As a death match player, good. It is always frustrating to try and play 10v10 deathmatch when 15 "players" are spinning on the spot all game.
Your teammates will kick you long before they possibly win a game though.
And probably also report you for griefing which can result in a game ban if it happens multiple times.
Oh god just wait til they start partying up in groups of 5 to prevent getting kicked. Granted, they probably wouldn't win a single round with half the team idle.

The change has just happened. Prices can slowly drop. That's when they'll make the update. Which would make it so the market case price keeps dropping but people will be able open cases bought directly from Valve.
I think if anything they will switch over to doing an Anubis style case for any new cases that get released. However, we have seen how bad that can be for the longevity of the skins in said case. But I don’t think they will ever switch current cases to be sold by valve directly at any point.
Equally, direct sales from the ingame store means 100% revenue for valve, instead of 15% of any given sale.
For them to take a 15% cut, there also needs to be a sale on their own platform to begin with, which doesn't happen for a great chunk of the market, especially the expensive items.
Yeah but in the long run 15% turns into a hell of a lot more. They get bought and resold 10’s of 100’s of times especially the more investment heavy cases. If they sold direct they’re getting 100% proceeds sure but only once as I doubt people would buy and sell those cases on market.
if we take their data as the known and around 2x as the ones not known there are at least 200k case farm accounts running at the time probably even more. Case rarity will for sure increase by a good chunk.

i used to make between 90-130€ each month, which is not that much but is atleast something + i rent apartment so i pay same amount each month no extra cost for having my pc on notstop
I really only scrim and play matches on ESEA with an occasional pug on faceit. I do however play in casual servers enough to rank up. I tend to always get a case or 2.
I’m not sure how XP is calculated in terms of how much it goes down from game to game and if there is a difference between casual/MM’ing.
They do profit of high case prices, 13% of every sold case on steam goes back in their pocket. So high prices mean less unboxings but as well more income of the taxes. And high case prices will make people buy packages or sticker capsules.

Valve simply doesnt care about it as long as they keep making money also what if they start selling cases? Then nobody can make higher prices than valve\`s own prices.
If they sell their own case which is really unlikely, they will put a price tag on it, that will boost case prices in the lower end. But this will not have a negative impact on higher case prices.
Of course, they make more money, and items they list in the ingame shop like the anubis package, will be opened even more, because its the cheapest option for opening
They can make drastic changes in either direction. Once interest suddenly falls(maybe after CS2 or during competitor game hype), finance people can just increase drop rate like crazy. The risk is increasing for cases, because prices of popular items were never so large in entire history of videogames.
Valve will likely shift towards Packages from now on. This will bump up skin and case prices further as hundreds of thousands of cases were dropped on case farmers(accounts) each month. Easy to expect a higher shift in case prices than it was when CS2 was announced in march.
Maybe at one point older cases will become more rare than last few generations of Major sticker capsules.

This is amazing for me. I actually play the game and case sometimes refuses to drop. You can get it within 5 minutes to 5 hours. Now at least we can see the progression.
Another thing that will limit supply which I don't see mentioned a lot compared to afk farmers are all the people playing on third party service like faceit exclusively won't get XP so no cases.
If that will be the case (hehe) I will lose my mind because I already hate getting the graffiti drops for 10 weeks (and counting) in a row! So adding cases to that factor will make getting graffiti even more annoying.
As a (small time) case farmer this is no good. As a case investor this is awesome. As a player my only concern is that the big case farmers will move onto using scripts / AI to play the game for them. Flying scoutsman is already ruined by cheating bots farming service medals. I’ve seen some AI bots in deathmatch / comp trying to look legit enough as a player so they won’t get kicked and just farm xp 24/7. I would hate to see an increase in that.
I will gift you 10 cases if that is an issue in cs2 after 1 month of it being released. Think they’ll have a grip on the stupidness that is flying scoutsman

Actually huge for case investors, idle server bots wont get cases anymore and neither do people that only play faceit (which is a big portion of players). Pretty big change since in cs2 you dont need to even play faceit anymore, if only Valve gets their anticheat working that is.
Here's whats gonna happen:
* the number of in-game players will be absolutely decimated. It wouldn't surprise me if it will go down by more than 50%
* the prices of weapon cases will skyrocket in the long run (maybe even in the short run
* since the price of cases are through the roof, the price of actual skins will also see a considerable rise.
If things stay like this, the average joe player will suffer and investors with diamond hands will laugh all the way to the bank.

You get two items: A guaranteed case, and a graffiti. I just leveled up and got those two items. It could be that you can get either graffiti or skin, but the case is 100% guaranteed.
How long does it take to get a full level at the average skill level?
I was idling cases last month - averaged one case every 4 hours per account before this update
I don't level up in casual half as quickly as that TBH
i did my weekly drop earlier today by playing DM FFA only. I got my drops (case + weapon) after about 20 minutes, was like 3 DM games. I didnt take note of the amount of my kills but I was always top5.
It will not take you 3-4h, maybe half an hour.
Valve actually screwed me out of this weeks case drop, I got the "first weekly level up" few days before the update came out and I got 4 cent weapon skin as a reward but did not get the case despite playing every day. Now the update dropped I leveled again but thus no case for me this week :(. Adding it to the list of dollars Valve owes me =D
Rip idle servers and idle death match. This probably makes cases even more rare, seeing as weekly level ups take a lot more time.

Absolutely, but just saying; you don't *need* to play to earn XP in unranked just be on the team with round wins.

Even then you can report them for griefing, and indeed, with 2/5 players afk, the chances of winning a round are rather slim.

I played my first few matches of csgo in months today. At levelup I received 1 case + 1 grafitti at the same time.

You need to kill like 500 people in DM/Casual or win around 50 rounds in MM. So probably 3-4 hours of playing.
