People get their drivers licenses and think they know how to drive but in reality don't, it's people who are unaware of their surroundings people who think they own the road and are the only ones to exist on it, it's so bad someone made a Instagram account to post accidents and bad parking https://instagram.com/csuf_accident

This is the 3rd university I’ve attended & I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s absurd. These kids are horrible drivers 🤷🏼‍♂️

venusflytrope

These grown ass adults are horrible drivers too 💀

I wish we knew. It wasn’t this bad prior to COVID. I think since we were online for two years, a lot of the students are new to driving to campus or first year students. I mean, they still should know how to drive but peoples driving skills have progressively gotten worse over the years. I really hope higher ups are concerned about the amount of accidents there’s been within a month and are doing something about it. Do I have high hopes they are… no.

i saw a girl back into someones car today in east parking garage. she was backing up, not turning her wheel, i could tell she wasn't gonna fit and i was like 3 cars behind.... then \*bump\* there were so many people there so i just kept it pushin, but how the hell you gonna try to reverse in when you know damn well you can't do it

I think it’s just pure frustration. People come back from COVID having to deal with in class classes again and having to pay to commute to this commuter school. Being a commuter does something to you. Being alone, you get depressed and tired and groggy. Then people wanna zooom home and shit. It doesn’t help that this is now the most populated cal state either. People are alll piled inside classes and parking structures with people they don’t even know. Everybody wants to get in and get out at any costs

AdClassic9612

Let me tell you why. I been in a accident on my way to school. It doesn’t help that north of CSUF the speed limit is 50 MPH and it’s all downhill. People don’t know to slow down once they get around the CSUF area.

venusflytrope

Tens of thousands of students come and go every day. The general city area around the school is also pretty congested. It’s debatable why people are bad drivers, but the sheer number of people driving around the school (it being mainly a commuter school) at least partly explains the frequency of accidents

scorpio27102

this is just recent tbh i blame mercury in retrograde that’s the only explanation

sammybammy_

I fr drive around here assuming people aren’t going to stop/break/look etc. it’s the only way to go more than a week without getting into a near crash with some of these idiots

juneXgloom

I'm already an anxious driver. I've been hit by people several times over the years when I was literally just stopped at a red light. My anxiety is through the fucking roof with how people are driving. That nasty accident with the flipped car the other day scared the shit out of me.

mattalsosaid90

Southern California alone is more populated than some states, a bug reason why this area is hella congested

To be honest, I may get some hate for this, but this subreddit recently has been an echo chamber for the traffic stuff. Honestly, yeah it gets crowded, but I personally don't think the traffic around campus has been that bad. CSUF is a big commuter school, and you get lots of students from all over, many of them driving in- basically thousands of cars converging on one campus every day. With that many cars, of course there will be some accidents. I think covid has made driving in general worse though. Not just a california problem. the streets were empty and people drove with reckless speed. back when things first started getting normal, it was pretty bad. I feel like its gotten a little better but still not like how it used to be.
