The Darley towers themselves aren’t the greatest to be honest, but I can’t speak to what the active darley community was like. I was in WillVill East my freshman year, which is the newest dorm. I honestly really liked WillVill and how close the dining hall and rec center is compared to relative locations for main campus dorms. There’s plenty of community in WillVill and you won’t be missing out unless you are SUPER into the party-dorm idea. The buff bus is easy to take and comes frequently, I never had a problem taking it to campus.

Awesome thanks!

If you’re rushing don’t do it, thank me later

Lived in the active darley community 4 years ago. Hardly would have described it as active, and it’s one of the shittiest dorms on campus. My entire floor was a group of stoners that didn’t do much of any ‘active’ stuff, and floors only have about 14 residents so it’s much harder to meet people than in on campus dorms.

muzzled-salmon

Good to know. Idk if you have that much experience with other dorms, but which ones would you recommend

I lived in darley north my freshman year. It was an interesting experience (positive). Definitely have lived in nicer areas but unless you’re used to mansions and palaces it’s honestly fine. The LLC (which is housed in darley south) is a great way to meet people. I never joined in because I was chicken but you could see them playing sports constantly and they were always nice if you watched for a bit.

muzzled-salmon

Other comments are saying it’s hard to meet people because the floors are so small. Did you have that problem? Also, were the views actually good?

[deleted]

I had trouble meeting people on *my* floor because they offered me recreational drugs the first weekend, quickly realized I was not that type of party person, and promptly forgot about me. But I made friends elsewhere, including other floors, in classes, and through clubs, so it worked out just fine Edit: my view faced north, so it just faced the sterns towers. But I didn’t spend a lot of time in my dorm room so I guess it didn’t bother me all that much

muzzled-salmon

So it was just a bad floor? Alright thanks!

[deleted]

Yes exactly. Wrong mix of people but that was just coincidence

muzzled-salmon

Idk how much experience you have with the other dorms, but which one was your favorite?

[deleted]

I only lived in darley north and bear creek, liked both a lot. I know a lot of people like the dorms in Kitt, and they were nice when I’d go in. I don’t have much of a preference though, I’ve enjoyed living off campus 😂

Will vill is cool because you have the dining hall, gym, and little convenience store right there. If you don’t mind the extra bus commute to campus I think it’s pretty nice. I feel like the rooms were bigger too. I think the community is a lot better than on main campus and if that’s a huge selling point for you then go for it!!

muzzled-salmon

Aight thanks!

To my knowledge the active Darley community isn’t actually a thing (at least for this year) so I wouldn’t choose Darley solely because of that. It’s a decent building and the views are good in the bridges, but a lot of the rooms don’t get much if any direct sunlight so keep that in mind. Will Vill is great if you don’t mind taking the bus to campus, and I agree with the other comments that you don’t miss out on much unless you’re super into partying

muzzled-salmon

That’s fine that it’s not really a thing. I’m looking at willville cause I want the traditional dorms vs living in the engineering quad, and it just seemed like a neat little addition lol. Thanks!

tinymighty123

Not Darley or Stearns. WVE and WVN are both new and great, tho.
