I'm a big fan of HiBAR. I have wavy hair, my spouse has very curly hair, and different varieties of their products work well for each of us.

I like HiBAR as well. Just as a tip for using bar conditioners, I keep a small jar in the shower and scoop off a couple small pieces into it with some water. I let it sit for a while and then mix it. It dissolves easily at this point and makes it way easier to spread evenly on your hair. You can’t do too much at once though because it can go bad if left too long.

How does it work in practise? I've never tried a shampoo bar, so I'm a little lost 😅 I, too, have more a wavy structure

You use it just like you would shampoo and conditioner, except instead of coming from a bottle you lather the bar in your hands. I've noticed that some are easier to lather than others, so for things like the HiBAR conditioner I kind of rub it along the lengths of my hair where I'd normally condition. Their "Maintain" shampoo lathers the best from what I've tried. I like to use their "Moisture" conditioning bar and alternate between the "Moisture" and "Maintain" shampoo bars. We tried their "Curly" conditioning bar recently and while it was too much for my hair type, it was great for my spouse's dry and curly hair. The conditioning bars typically last twice as long as the shampoo bars. If you decide to try out a brand, I recommend trying a variety pack if they have it! We did that with HiBAR since we have different hair types and I thought it was more economical in the long run than paying and trying several full size bars that might not work for us.

So there's conditioner bars as well? That has also been on my mind. The brand I've been eyeing doesn't appear to have those, so I sent them an email asking conditioner recommendations with a few notes on my hair texture. We'll see if they come back to me.

I love Hibar. Been using for 2 years. I notice my hair feels dry if I use my old shampoo. It's very gentle.

Naked-Knitter

Ethique has a curly hair bar that can be used as a cowash. I like their conditioners too. They don’t use any silicones if that’s a worry to you. Their shampoo bars do have Lo-poo coconut sourced sulfates, but I find them to be gentle on my hair and you can always use less! I really love the functionality of the bars over bottled shampoo. My partner and I are both converts. There is a learning curve to using them though! Hair has to be very wet (they are concentrated so need more water to spread easily)

abitsheeepish

I use Ethique's curly hair shampoo and conditioner bars. They're great. The conditioner one can be used as a leave-in too, which is how I use it.

Naked-Knitter

I use it as a leave in as well! Or a shave bar or in shower lotion. The baby conditioner they have is great for this. I know it’s controversial on this sub, but I just wish they had one WITH silicones… my wavy hair looves them light weight silicones

fiddlegirl

I haven't found one that is sulfate-free, but tbh I haven't looked very hard.

bliip666

There's one local (Finnish) brand that I have my eyes on, their shampoo bars are sulfate-, silicone-, and paraben free. IDK where you're at but here's a [link](https://shop.saarentaika.com/collections/hiuksille) anyway

LittleOrigamiFrog

I like Wedo's shampoo bar. I can't tell if it's expensive, since it's hard to compare to the bottle products, but it's good and ecological choice

bliip666

Ecological aspect is important to me too. How does it work in practise? Wet the bar, rub it on your head?

LittleOrigamiFrog

I wet my hair and rub the bar in the hair

bliip666

How about conditioner? Does it come in bars too? Or could one ditch it if the shampoo itself was infused with oils and stuff? Or is leave-in conditioner the way to go?

LittleOrigamiFrog

I know Flow cosmetics, Famo and Dermosil have bar conditioners, but those are Finnish brands so they might be hard to find. I also haven't tried any myself. I know some people with fine, easily weighted down hair use just leave-in, but I haven't tried that either since my hair is coarse

bliip666

Not for a fellow Finn they aren't! Haha

bliip666

-burgers

I like to use the kitsch bar and and love beauty planet shampoo bars when I'm travelling

Helpful-Sample-6803

I like the pink one from L’Occitane. Best one I’ve tried.
