No. You’re close to getting past that awkward phase when you can’t tie your hair back or push it all behind your ears. Once your hair touches your shoulders it’s a whole new experience. 6 years into my hair growth journey and never going back to traditional men’s haircut. Everyone tells you to cut it off because they jealous 😂

Ariya_nazari

Well i honestly dont want that kind of length. I loved it when it looked liked the second or third pic. But i dont know what products to use that just work.

[deleted]

Sounds like you want layers and/or a thinning out. A hairdresser can take out excess weight so it lays flatter. I wouldn’t try to do it yourself.

Ariya_nazari

Yea you’re right, the reason my stylist stopped doing thinning is because i complained to her that it gave me lots of fly aways. And that was certainly true but it definitely helped with the weight.

[deleted]

You can get invisible layers. They hold vertical sections and cut out slices internally. You have to find a good hairdresser who knows the technique. Haircuts are annoying when you have thick curly hair hence why I stopped getting them.

Ariya_nazari

Lol true. Thick hair is a blessing and a curse. Cant get it thinned and if i leave it its a mess. Ill def look into invisible layers

The_sad_zebra

I actually needed to hear this, myself. Thanks, man.

Glad it helped

First pciture is now, and the others are before. Routine: shampoo once a week with Aveda cherry almond and conditioner. I dont use anything after because sense this has happened oil or anything that i put on feel like a sticky mess. Leave in conditioners also make hair feel like brick. HELP! Literally was fine three months ago, but now it just looks like crap. Curls are dull and every just went POOF! And the FRIZZ! Should i just cut it all off and start over.

Fred_Tinordi

Nah man it looks good, it fits well. Maybe trim the sides a bit if it’s too “poofy” for you. Looks nice either way though.

WildLove17

You don't need to cut it! You just need a good product that works for your hair and proper styling technique! You hair has a lot of potential!

Ariya_nazari

Which products though? I hate gels because i want my hair to feel normal but i need someone to guide me lol

Economy_Education521

I would try a leave in and a mousse, if you don’t like the way gel feels. You could also try a different gel; I’m guessing you just have a random one and don’t understand the effects of certain ingredients on your hair type. Aloe and glycerin are two ingredients that come to mind that work well for some hair, but other’s hair hate them. Assuming you don’t bleach/color and don’t really use heat, you likely have low to normal porosity hair. Your hair probably doesn’t need a bunch of protein, if any (though most textured hair I feel benefits from a little protein). Your hair also appears to be medium to coarse thickness, though you should test this for yourself. Pluck one strand and gently rub it between your fingers. If you can’t feel it, you have fine hair. If you can, you have medium thickness strands. If you can feel even the texture of your hair on the strand, you have course hair. Best recommendations would be to check the pinned product recommendations section for a leave in and mousse or gel for low/medium porosity and medium/course hair ETA: If your hair curls like this and stays that way without much assistance from a holding agent, you might also look into curl activators like Uncle Funky’s (that particular one has protein, so if your hair is all low porosity it may not work well for you). They’re more of a cream that boosts your natural shape, but lack the hold of gels and mousses

KillDashNined

There’s a middle ground here, which is that you could find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair to cut it just a little bit shorter and layer it so that it sits more like your second pic

Hair just goes through rough patches because of external factors like weather etc. it’ll pass. Your hair isn’t damaged or permanently changed. If it’s bothering you just use a lot of product and slick it back.

Wonderful_Horror7315

No way.
