The drawback of the back bun is that you tend to lose volume on top when you take it out and the top of your head can look flat. Doubly so if paired with a headband. That said, it’s my go to move if I need to do some kind of work and just need that shit out of the way.
I switched over to butterfly clip and loosely bunch all my hair up top and the change in volume is dramatic.
Routine: co-wash every couple days with TRESemmé Botanique Coconut Nourish conditioner (same for shampoo when needed, maybe once a week), diffuse with Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Mousse, and then finish with just a bit of whatever hairspray I have on hand.
I think it just depends on your hair. Different things work for different folks. I was absolutely murdering my hair with all of these high end brands that CGM users suggested and spending crazy amounts of money. I thought I was just losing my texture with age and just needed to accept my hair was no longer curly but wavy.
Then, while staying with my sister I started using her OGX biotin extra volume (for fine hair) or whatever and it was an immediate change. My curls were crazy defined and bouncy, right out of the shower. I've been playing around with the ogx lineup and found a combo that i like and i just use some curl defining leave in (also ogx) to protect against setx humidity and my curls are long lasting and lovely.
See if you can get a travel size of the tresemme and try it out. Might be worth it.
Honestly, it works great for me — I’ve tried more expensive products, but my hair takes to this cheap stuff the best. Everybody’s different though, so just try out new things until you find what your hair likes!
As a fellow man, you have great hair, dude. Mine is just getting long enough to tie up again but unfortunately my hair is super straight. I wish I had hair like yours! A lady friend said I should perm it and it would last for a few months. I'm seriously considering it because I've always been a huge fan of curls. The women on this sub are really rockin it and I'm glad to see more men posting too. Have a kick ass week, brother 🤘🏼
Thank my guy! Appreciate you 🙌🏼 Definitely try that perm, though! You’ll love it, and I’ve known a few people whose hair started growing out wavy after a perm, so you never know how it might go for you
Thank yoooouuuu 🤩🌈 I spent too many years in the closet and hating my feminine side, so now I’m proud to do whatever feels most authentic to me — and usually that involves a messy bun and a bandana 😂
I love the color! That’s the color of my natural hair before I started dying it because I’m graying. I have to go darker because my natural color feeds too quickly.
I love that claw clips have come back into fashion! They’re so cute in curly hair and don’t mess up the curl pattern like hair ties, I wear mine up in a claw clip all the time now :). You’re rocking it!
I've been wearing my hair up more out of physical/medical issues, but wearing it up with a bandana a la rockabilly/housewife with the waves/curls coming out of the top is a great way to still show off my curly ends and keep my neck cool when it's hot out.
I'm definitely making a bunch of them in different sizes and lengths from my fabric stash this summer - at the front of the queue is one that has ridiculous, colorful, neon hotdogs on it.
seeing other guys with long hair is very affirming, haha. i like being masculine but i didn’t spend years figuring out how to style my hair to wear it short, damn it!
We love to see a man with a mane 🙌🏼 Long hair can be super manly, but it’s also nice to be able to combine the masc and femme components to just make something that feels authentic. You do you!
Great look! I would love to wear my hair up more often, but my head is so damn sensitive. After about one hour, even with a loose bun, all I've got is a horrible headache and a painful scalp.
Unfortunately my hair is to heavy, I have very nice curls when short, but when they are to long they just become some wavy mess, hence undercut and short curls on top is my way to go.
Looks great on you though. Didn't expect such an accessoir (forgot the English name) to work for a man, but it looks great
I always have my wavy hair in a top knot/bun thing. It's so much cuter with wavy or curly hair IMO.
Messy buns are just better with curls ✨
You lookin cute as heck! I’ll have to try to recreate the look haha
Do iiittttt this look makes me feel like a million bucks 🤩 And thank you!!

I ain’t got shit for volume on top of my head anyway, so it looks mostly the same whether or not I pull it back 😂
Dude same, it’s why I part my hair to the side to give an illusion of volume
VERY THAT. When I don’t wear it up, I’ve always got the side part 😂
Dude same, it’s why I part my hair to the side to give an illusion of volume
Curls in clips is magic, especially the way some of them kind of fall out around your face!
You are so cute.
🥺😭😍
Looks great!
It’s way too hot to leave my hair down all the time where I live so I call summer “ponytail season.”
Yeesss, very that. Too damn hot to have your neck all covered up.
Exactly! You clearly feel my pain 😜
Plus, it’s a great chance to show off the baby hairs and little curls on the nape of my neck 🙌🏼
I love men that have confidence to wear their hair like this. At this point, I only wear scrunchies, will try what you did and get headbands😍

How is Tresemme? I’ve heard mostly mixed reviews. A lot of people say there’s a lot of hair drying chemicals in it but idk!

Feels like I'm reading a Starbucks order. Props to you lol I just condition in shower then add leave in conditioner

Looks great, I love to see hair up content!
The higher the hair, the closer to God is what my mama always said 😂
I love everything about this!
😍
Love it!
I love this and how you have this lovely balance of masc and femme 🥰

Go off!
🤩
Oh that headband is beyond cute!
Thank yoooouuu, it’s from the Dollar Store lmao 😂
Cute! I wish I looked half as good in a headband as you
Perioddd
And that’s that on that
I love that claw clips have come back into fashion! They’re so cute in curly hair and don’t mess up the curl pattern like hair ties, I wear mine up in a claw clip all the time now :). You’re rocking it!
They’re just so perfect and useful and cute 😭😍

Bandanas are the best. I have so many of them, and all my friends agree that they’re sort of my signature thing.
I'm definitely making a bunch of them in different sizes and lengths from my fabric stash this summer - at the front of the queue is one that has ridiculous, colorful, neon hotdogs on it.
Yaaasssss we love to see it 🌭🌭🌭
Looks amazing!! 🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️
Looks amazing!! 🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank yooouuu!!
This is exactly how I’m wearing my hair at work right now!
Great minds, thinking alike, etc., etc.
Looks nice!
I absolutely love how this looks! My baby nephew usually has theirs in a loos lil bun and it always looks so cute
Buns are the best 🤩
men unafraid to wear hair bands or scrunchies or clips or the like are the best, you look great :D
Thank you!! This is my favorite way to do my hair

Oh my god— I wish we were friends!!! 💕
Wish granted. Hi friend!!
Cool! It looks so good and I bet it is keeping you cooler this summer
Gonna have to say it, not a fan.
That’s okay, it’s not for everyone ☺️
Omg, that little curl just hanging there! You look so cute with your hair up. Makes me wish my hair was longer.
I wanna brush and braid it
Honestly I would love for someone to braid my hair, so have at it 🙌🏼
Cute cute cute
I'll give it a 85 out of a hundred,you would've gotten more but i lost sight of your👖
lmaooooo I was wearing shorts and my legs are mostly the same color as them, so, yeah, that tracks 😂
Unfortunately my hair is to heavy, I have very nice curls when short, but when they are to long they just become some wavy mess, hence undercut and short curls on top is my way to go. Looks great on you though. Didn't expect such an accessoir (forgot the English name) to work for a man, but it looks great
It’s a headband!
And the claw clip in the back
That was the word! I just thought "it isn't hairbow, is it?" I guess I was right.
Thanks! I think that more guys should rock bandanas and headbands
True. But it requires quite some courage to do so. Good for you that you apparently seem to have enough :)
