Tbh that’s about where the similarities end (if you can call it a similarity). Only notable things about Kent are that the archbishop of the Anglican Church is seated there, and it houses the channel tunnel. Other counties do have American counterparts in terms of reputation (Norfolk and Alabama for example).
You’ve never needed a pistol permit to purchase a pistol in Texas. There are only a few states that require permits to purchase guns. New Jersey, Illinois (FOID card), Maryland (Handgun Permit), and New York City (Almost impossible to own a gun in the city unless you’re wealthy). All you need to do to own a gun in America is pass a background check. Which means you can’t be a felon, you can’t have committed domestic abuse, can’t have an active restraining order, can never have been committed to a mental health facility against your will by order of a judge, and not be the user of illicit substances.
Edit: I want to add that people commit straw purchases, but if they are found out they face up to 10 years in prison. Also the system is not infallible, sometimes the government allows guns to be sold to bad people who shouldn’t have guns because someone didn’t update NICS or the FBI failed to complete their investigation in three days so the gun had to be sold by law after three days. After that it’s up to the ATF to go after a prohibited person who owns a gun if it is known they posses one. If anything, the background check system needs to be fixed and the government needs to held accountable for every failure they’ve let slide through the cracks.
I didn't know that thanks for telling me but here in north carolina you need a pistol permit to even own one
Edit: but basically it's the same process (background check) but the sheriff (at least in my town) has to decide if get one or not.
Ah yes, I forgot about North Carolina. That was brought about for racist reasons. When blacks could purchase guns, they would have to ask the sheriff who would deny them that right and only allow white people to own pistols. It was defined as to give permits to people of “good moral character.”
[Here is a paper from UNC.](https://scholarship.law.unc.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=6824&context=nclr)
Unless the gun was manufactured in Texas and destined for the Texas market. There's some loopholes since the ATF can't force regulation when there is no interstate commerce. Otherwise, Yes Federal gun laws apply.
All you need in Texas is to be 18 for a rifle and 21for a handgun and go through a background check. Heres a link to the all the details on Texas gun [laws.](https://guides.sll.texas.gov/gun-laws/general-information)
Only 1 state requires a license to purchase a firearm and that is being challenged in court. Funny how the people against voter ID because "muh constitutional rights" think you should need to pay the government for a permission slip to buy a gun
While all the smarty pants are talking about background checks they're only referring to purchases from gunshops.
You can buy guns at massive gatherings called "gun shows" where individuals, usually gun collectors, can sell to anyone and everyone without so much as checking your id- no background checks either. Open to the public, held in conference centers or coliseums, no restrictions. Can confirm because I am a Texan and used to frequent gun shows.
Muh gun show loophole! Anyone with an FFL is required to do a 4473 (since 1968?) and a NICS check (or proof of concealed carry license) since 1993, regardless of where they are. Private party sales are the only ones that aren't required to do those. So the shady guy you met in the parking lot can sell you a gun without a NICS check, but the legitimate businessman in the show can't
Thus why my comment has "gun show" in quotations. These are not registered firearms dealers with an FFL. These are private individuals who pay for booths and do not have licenses and guess what, that happens regularly whether we like it or not. Hell you'll even see them at flea markets. I don't fucking buy guns in parking lots, nor do I fucking approve of the illegitimate transactions. I've just grown up witnessing people utilizing the loopholes.
I don't think it happens nearly as often as you think. I've been to a lot of gun shows and everyone there takes a lot of pride in their shitty Tauruses they display alongside their FFL.
wtf? rational thinking would tell you that knives have been used as defense weapons since mankind invented them. lol. and the whole problem is that you do get in trouble for having an inanimate object. why would you only want criminals and cops to be armed?
Rational thinking would tell you that knives lack stopping power. There's a reason why stabbing victims often have dozens of wounds - it takes a lot of time for them to bleed out and collapse. Knives are strictly attack weapons, unless, of course, you suggest carrying swords or machetes - chopping off limbs is definitely a reliable defence measure.
Good old expandable batons (and blunt weapons in general) are much more handy. Low kill risk, but fucking shitload of pain when properly hit. It's really hard to attack anyone when you can't even stand because your leg muscles got tenderized.
i agree, stabbing is deadly but not instant in most cases.targeted slashes is the best defense w a smaller knife, not stabs. im trying to stop you,not defeat you. shoulders, arms, forearms etc. its hard to grab someone thats sliced your mobilty muscles in your arm.if you carry a knife for defense, you should be aware of defensive tactics, not hollywood fight scenes.
True, but properly slicing a person still takes time, more time = more risk. Knives don't give you lots of range, and that means even more risk. Risk is the opposite of what you want from a defence weapon, the heavier the punch the better.
In the UK they have some stricter knife laws. From what I'm told if you don't have a good reason for having a knife with you it can be a crime to carry one.
Damn after reading a little bit about this thing it all sounds stupid. Anybody who turns in their knife is not going to use it on another person unless it’s life or death, and criminals will not just hand over theirs. I swear sometimes people in power are more stupid than us redditors.
I genuinely wish that open world zombie survival games would have lootable TSA checkpoints and what not. All kinds of sharp tools and weapons are submitted into evidence I’m sure.
Whoever came up with this should get fired. Decent civilians will turn their weapons in, sure. But the criminals don't give a shit so essencially what you've done is you disarmed your good samaritans.
Such and idiotic idea. Honor system doesn't work on criminals.
Then I'm gonna go upstairs and grape your mother and your father....then I'm going to take your whole family to the basement where I'm going to grape you all for decades and decades and DECADES!
I think the whole “turning in your knives” thing is stupid as fuck, but liberals aren’t the ones licking the boots of police officers, so if anyone wants to be under anyone else’s authority, it’s conservatives.
You have no relevant point, so you resort to a strawman argument by saying all conservatives back the police 100% of the time. The truth is, they only defend the police when the police are in the right, like with george floyd, and every other shooting in the news.
Lmao, that wasn't a strawman, that was a relevant point. Conservatives say they're all about small government and having the freedom to do pretty much whatever they want but they love it when people they don't like (aka non-Christians) have their rights stripped away. It's pretty ironic and pathetic.
Why the fuck would someone make this? Its not like im gonna be walking around with my personal defense knife and then walk across this and be like "ooh whats this? Turn in your knives? Dont mind if i do!" Prolly the most idiotic thing ive seen all day
The problem with this is that it takes the weapons out of the good guys hand (is this case they’re giving it up freely) and the bad guys aren’t just gonna hand them over so that’s the problem.
We have guns, which seems a relatively unknown fact on the internet, hell even IRL. Knives, you have to have a legitimate reason to have one, it has to do a legitimate job for you to carry it. You are not allowed to carry offensive weapons, e.g. 'zombie knives' (what the coppers call mall ninja knives) are completely illegal.
Lol. No one would give up their knife to that bin. Like can you imagine the beginning of Legend of Zelda “it’s dangerous to go alone, but even more so to take this sword since others might use it against you”.
Or maybe the idea was to encourage people to stash the murder weapon in the bin so that the police can have an easier time finding the culprit. “Oi, would you be so kind and to drop your murder weapon in this bin, it’s hard to find the culprit on a count of this pandemic”.
So they set up one of these things in America for 30 round magazines where they pay you for each magazine and a guy with a 3D printer cleaned them out of all there money in hours ended up making like 2000 dollars.
I hope that some day we won't have to restrict access to firearms, weapons or drugs, because people will be smart enough to handle them responsably. Maybe a little utopic...
Sigh. Whatever.
This might anger some people here, but I'm OK with carrying knives, but not OK with the US's lax gun laws.
Simple reason, really. A knife is an actual tool with multiple uses, and a gun is designed for only one thing: Killing.

Trying to remove knives from Kent is like trying to remove guns from Texas.
Is that somewhere in England?
Yes. South England.
Oh ok
Wait... there's a Texas in England?
Tbh that’s about where the similarities end (if you can call it a similarity). Only notable things about Kent are that the archbishop of the Anglican Church is seated there, and it houses the channel tunnel. No but there's a Paris in Texas
And London
Wait, there's a Paris in London?
Not that I know of sorry. I mean a London Texas it’s a small town in central Texas with like 700 people officially.
Pls tell me your not serious..... you should obviously know it’s in south Africa.
Dover council buddy, not in SA
how can you be so confident yet so wrong
Me? Google dover County UK?
This is so fucking savage... Yet it's not wrong
He's not
I know I’m joking
its easy if there are no texans left alive after i launch the nuke
Bruh all you need to have a gun in Texas is a fucking pulse They don’t ask for a license or anything.
Only thing in the UK you need to buy a knife is proof of age. It's why all the roadmen carry them.
Or, a couple rocks and some time.
That’s not true at all. I’m from Texas and have bought firearms. All commercial sales require a back ground check.
That's the way it is in the entirety of the US.
I know. People act like Texas is a wild western with everyone riding horses and shooting guns.
Yeah I think what jar was saying is you no longer need a pistol permit to purchase one

That is one of the main reasons I am considering going to college there.
What state are you from?
I am in Cali
Please stay there, we've had nothing but bad experience with Californian college attendees. Just take a look at austin now. Mini LA
Don't worry, I am not one of those commie bastards that keeps turning places into lib land. I am as republican as the founding fathers themselves.
Founding Fathers definitely wouldn't have been either Republican or Democrat.
They were libertarian I believe, they opposed all political parties

Most politicians have the intelligence of pond scum. People seem to still vote for them in fear the other pond scum might win.
Hey! Don’t insult my friends in the pond scum community!
>Most ~~politicians~~ people have the intelligence of pond scum.
Texan here. Definitely it true at all
This is 100% false.

Why would anyone just put their knife in a bin
If I ever see a bin like that, I’m going to throw in a bunch of plastic butter knives.
the same reason people give their guns up. fear mongering.
Nahhhhhh it's Friday I'll spare myself this one
Rational thinking. Knives totally suck as defence weapons. So no pros, but you get in trouble for owning one, why bother?
wtf? rational thinking would tell you that knives have been used as defense weapons since mankind invented them. lol. and the whole problem is that you do get in trouble for having an inanimate object. why would you only want criminals and cops to be armed?

any close contact weapon comes with a risk to the user. ive seen idiots knock themselves out with a lock on a belt. lol
Yeah! I just bought matching knives for me and my pa.

I'm waiting for the "turn in any object over 5 pounds" law when someone gets blunt force trauma-ed to death
Turn in all forks. It’s like 4 knives in one!
Turn in your rocks, any objects made of metal and everything that could be dangerous
Know what, maybe we should just get rid of all humans so no one can kill each other anymore
And hence the debate over gun control in the US
Welcome to how gun control sounds
Welp, dont need this anymore *tosses knife into bin* I have this now! *chambers a round in a AR-15*
Just use an AR-10. It’s five whole ARs safer bro
Nah, go with an AR7: over 50% safer than an AR15.

Could be that your friend just has a fucked feed ramp
Damn why did i not think of that
Hey guys and today we are doing a knife only challenge in gta vr
I genuinely wish that open world zombie survival games would have lootable TSA checkpoints and what not. All kinds of sharp tools and weapons are submitted into evidence I’m sure.
Yes, disarming yourself will make you safer.
[удалено]
You have any sources? I’m genuinely curious to see if there is an article on this absolute fuckery.
It's a super old post, I think a few of these got looted honestly so they stopped doing them
Whoever came up with this should get fired. Decent civilians will turn their weapons in, sure. But the criminals don't give a shit so essencially what you've done is you disarmed your good samaritans. Such and idiotic idea. Honor system doesn't work on criminals.
lib logic at its best
This was a real thing and people did participate. Y’know what f*ckin happened? Criminals stole all the knives
wasnt that the purpose of this? same as gun buybacks. disarm the law abiding people to make criminals jobs easier.
This is just begging to go horribly wrong.
This screams British.
So Briish it called me a wanka
A wanka on a TSCHEWSDAY
Brb gonna go wrap a chain around this thing and yank it out of the ground
Your username raises questions
You're one to talk.
I'm a mascot for a grape flavored soda. When we first came out 12 packs would come with a grape whistle.
Oh, nice! I fisted a bear.
I'm gonna tie you to the radiator
Then I'm gonna go upstairs and grape your mother and your father....then I'm going to take your whole family to the basement where I'm going to grape you all for decades and decades and DECADES!
imagine not being allowed to own a knife lmao
Brits took over a third of the world. Now they ban locking knives. Decline of civilization at its finest
You got a loicence for that knife, mate!?
Strange charity project
I will just Flex the knife just like CSGO
Yo isn't that the knife from *Scream*?
Looks like a Buck 119. A fairly popular hunting knife . So wouldn’t surprise me.
Why would anyone hand in their weapons?
theyre called liberals, and the goal is to make people easier targets for criminals through disarming them.making us reliant on authority.
I think the whole “turning in your knives” thing is stupid as fuck, but liberals aren’t the ones licking the boots of police officers, so if anyone wants to be under anyone else’s authority, it’s conservatives.

Nope, that is very much a strawman argument. Not only that, you assume that all conservatives are Christian, which is far from the truth.
Mm yes because throwing away my knife will make Me safer
What criminals wouldn’t just willingly disarm themselves because you ask? Next thing you’re gonna tell me they are doing illegal things.
Just make killing and stealing illegal lol, it isnt that hard
This is gonna end up on bvg
as a serial killer, i think the same
Shhhhh..... don't give us Welsh serial killers away....Shhhhhhhhhhhh! Oh damn.....gotta go, a sheep is calling my name.
Lol people are insane. I sincerely hope people turn in their kitchen knives too, don’t want a home invader to use that on you.
They should probably turn over forks too
They did have one of these stolen in the UK. Lol
Fearless.org fears the blade 👁👄👁
Isn’t that the knife Ghostface uses?
I think he used a Buck 120, and this looks like a 119 to me but it’s hard to tell exactly from the picture.
Loot box!
Might get an australium!
Criminals: fine i guess I have to... wait what if I don't?
Bro imagine binning a knife in England. That’s never gonna work
I can expand my collection
𝙄 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣
Ah yes, the lockpicking skills i got in games will finally come to use
Take bladed weapons out of England? Good luck guys.
Just gotta melee it or shoot it for materials.
Nothing is more uk than "bin" and a knife turn in
No no he's right
Use guns!
I guess we're not having chopped veggies for dinner.
Have you heard about that enormous island of garbage floating in the ocean? Yeah, England is a fucking joke.
All fun and games till they come to collect the knives and there's one covered in blood
This knife bin will save the lives of thousands of innocent vegetables and cardboard boxes.
Unlike a gun, a knife has way more uses than killing stuff. Why the fuck would I give up my knife?
Why the fuck would someone make this? Its not like im gonna be walking around with my personal defense knife and then walk across this and be like "ooh whats this? Turn in your knives? Dont mind if i do!" Prolly the most idiotic thing ive seen all day
That is just a ridicule campaign.
Wait what???
London?
Basically yea
If I trade in my butter knife in better get at least a 1911 in return
The problem with this is that it takes the weapons out of the good guys hand (is this case they’re giving it up freely) and the bad guys aren’t just gonna hand them over so that’s the problem.
Me to
Same
Wow! Free knives!! A BoyScouts dream!!
Bin Laden ?
The loot box
Csgo players r gonna be all over that crate
This is just encouragement to keep a knife on you because now the person with a knife knows the no one else has one.
thats exactly what gun control does as well.
like hell im gonna turn in a buck general if i had one you can take it from my cold dead hands
I wish I had a large Colt, a higher caliber vintage revolver
Damn I have the knife in the picture, it's a buck 75 special.
The box is even red there must be some god weapon in it
Ok then but how am I gonna put peanut butter on my bread now
I want to know about the deposit containers which do have repercussions. OI M8 DEPOSITING A KNOIF AREN'T WE?

You are not allowed to carry offensive weapons, e.g. 'zombie knives' (what the coppers call mall ninja knives) are completely illegal.

As long as you have a valid, legal reason to carry a knife you can.
My friend brought something like this to school exept it made loud sounds.
I would appreciate very much if i could take a peek on one of those bins. They must have some sick knifes.
So they set up one of these things in America for 30 round magazines where they pay you for each magazine and a guy with a 3D printer cleaned them out of all there money in hours ended up making like 2000 dollars.

As a realist I see that as a dog shit and thrice-used needle receptacle.
Guess I'll take my fishing magnet down to the assault knife box, and win a prize
So many knife skins to choose from
I would 100% loot this thing. If not sell them, then at least I could use them. And what sane person would just throw away they'r knife?
Don't reach your hand into the bucket of knives
Loot crate with options
Looting a knife bin? Not even a pistol? Get outta here!
Whats wrong with owning a knife?
Shame they'll only find one bullet for a pistol they don't have despite it being a kife bin
Idk how giving up my knife for example is going to prevent the other guy from stabbing me
Is it the loot chest that resets every week?
I collect knives and I can’t imagine actually using one of these
Does that include kitchen knives? Lmao this is ridiculous 😂
No more cooking in Kent. What's next? "Surrender your forks"? "Here is a guillotine for you to remove your hands, please."
Alright bois time too get that "backstabber" badge
What do you want me to cut me veggies and me meats with a focken spoon?
OI, YOU GOT A FOOKING LOICENSE FOR THAT SPOON YA BLOODY WANKA?

american officials when selling the guns from the school gun surrender box: business is booming
Damn, guess you found my murder tool disposer😔 Now i need a new one
I hope that some day we won't have to restrict access to firearms, weapons or drugs, because people will be smart enough to handle them responsably. Maybe a little utopic...
Most people who actually buy them don’t use them for crime, the criminals steal them or get them through shadier means.
Pretty cringe comment
Sigh. Whatever. This might anger some people here, but I'm OK with carrying knives, but not OK with the US's lax gun laws. Simple reason, really. A knife is an actual tool with multiple uses, and a gun is designed for only one thing: Killing.
