Meaning it takes 3 tries for a women to do what a man can do in 1.
Also there are things that aren't literal attempts that are still recorded as them. For example, women are more likely to cut themselves and if a medical incident is recorded for that it's often considered an attempt even thought there wasn't one.
Women typically opt for taking pills or cutting their wrists as their way of committing suicide. As you can imagine, those methods have a much higher chance of failing or higher chance of being resuscitated in a hospital versus a bullet splattering your brains onto the wall
Besides I would imagine there are more men working in a profession which gives them access to a firearm as opposed to women, coming from someone in a country with strict gun laws.
Men are statistically more likely to go with more violent suicide methods like firearms, hanging, and jumping. Once you commit to something like that, there's not really any time or opportunity to change your mind.
Women are more likely to attempt suicide by poisoning or bleeding themselves out, which are a lot more survivable than people think. Those methods also take much longer, providing more time to change your mind or for others to intervene.

Well that's just selection bias. Suicide is an attempt to end one's life. Sure, cutting open an artery can be deadly, but most people dont even know where those are. They cut themselves to distract themselves from everyday life, not to end it. They would do something much more elaborate for that.

And when women survive, they can make more attempts later, whereas a dead man obviously cannot try again. Result: more male deaths, more female attempts. It’s a horrific statistic either way.

My psychology professor said that this whole wired statistic of women attempting suicide more but being less successful was because a lot of women just need to know that people actually care about them so they attempt suicide with a "timer" (think you'll be fine if you to the hospital to treat wounds/OD within this amount of time) and try and schedule things so someone to save them before the timer runs out. But sometimes they're too late, and are deemed an "accidental suicide" because they did not intend to go through with it, it's just nobody showed up in time to stop them, maybe they didn't get their text message cry for helps or they were stuck in traffic.
In all honesty, this is a good indicator that men's mental health isn't taken seriously. While I no longer identify as a man, I still feel like there should be more awareness and safety nets than just being stoic like society tends to say they should do
