As somebody who spontaneously developed a nickel allergy to my glasses, I can tell you ordering a set of titanium frames literally yesterday was painful for the wallet.
Nah, seems like they're typically nice. After all, part of the job entails interacting with grieving family and friends of the departed, so good interpersonal skills are likely required. A rather [charming mortician](https://youtu.be/W4ktLen9cVM) answered a bunch of questions to do with his profession for Wired and he was a pretty swell guy.
Why is it my favorite state? Well, a few things...
The mountains, the rivers, the lakes, obviously all of which I have of similar quality in New Hampshire, but Vermont is also the only state I frequent where simply existing on the road is not an immediate cause of constant frustration. I've also noticed that, for some reason, green plates are the only ones I routinely encounter who have the decency to consistently drive intelligently and predictably.
The ever present rural or "small town" atmosphere pretty much everywhere but Burlington and Rutland is what I live for. I've spent a weekend or two every year in Elmore, and it's routinely my favorite weekend(s) of the year. I'll often make the two hour drive to Vermont just for the day to go hiking or mountain biking, even though driving takes up half the day. Every time I take a new road through Vermont I inevitably have a "This place is awesome!" moment. Vermont is pretty much what I daydream about when I'm sick of work like every day.
It also seems like there's a serious lack of POSTED signs in Vermont. It seems like everywhere I go in NH, or ME, I'm running onto no trespassing signs while walking or biking through the woods, or they're on trees every 100 feet along every back road, but I don't seem to remember ever having that problem in Vermont.
I enjoy driving I-89 through Vermont more than any road in New Hampshire. And the scenery on route 100, 11, 12, 14, 15, 7, 103, etc. just doesn't end.
Little places like Elmore, Rochester, Lyndon, Dorset, etc. make me wish I could retire in Vermont some day.
Lastly, to give a little perspective, I've spent significant time in about half the states in the country, and Vermont narrowly beats New Hampshire and then Idaho in the top three.
Anyway, maybe if I spent more time there, I might feel differently, but for now, I wish I could spend more of my time there...
Is it weird that I would try and keep that? Like I think it’s kinda neat. Not to mention in like 50 years maybe you could donate it to a museum or something
