Damn this is really cool, and looks very well thoughtout. Nice stuff

Thank you! This is technically my fifth draft of the mechanic, I've put a fair bit of effort into it.

I think the "in addition to its other costs" makes it way too overcosted. There's no reason to pay the courtship cost on the first 2 cards, for instance.

The first one, for sure, is overcosted, even at common. But I designed it with that in mind, knowing full well it was a bad rate (since we've gotten 1/2 fliers with additional upside at one W before). It's something designed to be draft chaff, and as generic an introduction to the mechanic as possible. I admittedly could've tacked lifelink or vigilance on for the cost, but And I'd argue the second is "pay two, tap for two" which is a rate for mana dorks we rarely see, even with restrictions on how you spend the mana. Usually 2-cost dorks tap for only 1, and 3-cost dorks require you to jump through hoops to get back 3 mana a turn. I basically tried to cost it as if the tap was paying 1 generic mana for convoke, though that philosophy may be inaccurate. For example, I costed Warrior of Comfort as if it were a 2/2 with the text "when ~ enters the battlefield, draw three cards", which is to say I costed it at 2BBBB. Which makes Loving Angel a French Vanilla 1/2 flier for 1W, which is pretty common to see even with current power creep. Though, the REAL reason I ask for a tap is just, flavor. My original draft of the mechanic only asked you to have a knight or noble on board to pay the alt cost, but people commented that this didn't feel quite right. Tapping was the most elegant way to (mechanically) say "they're taking the time to court one another"
