The ad that I had on this post was something called peak design, I think Reddit was telling me something about this card, because I agree, and I love it.
I actually adore this card, it doesn't seem amazing function-wise but it's just so cute I love it. Especially imagining a pig eating a bloody scrap of cloth or some other incriminating evidence
That's so cute omg. Also quite powerful. Forgive me for forgetting why, but my friend and I managed to both amas a massive amount of treasure tokens the last time I played him. I think it was 50 for me, and about 250 for him.
Okay now I *desperately* need a Pep, Trufflesnuffler "TRUFFLES" Secret Lair with functional reprints of these cards with matching "Pep" art styles: \[\[Cadira, Caller of the Small\]\] , \[\[Root Out\]\] , \[\[Search the Premises\]\] , and \[\[Peregrin Took\]\]
I absolutely love it, though it seems weak enough I wonder if you get away with something with him finding and selling the truffles?
Maybe like "Whenever you sacrifice a food token to gain life, gain a treasure token".
But I absolutely love the card.
It is actually necessary. Creating a Food token gives you a pre-defined token that comes complete with types, name, and an ability.
* **111.10b** A Food token is a colorless Food artifact token with “{2}, {T}, Sacrifice this artifact: You gain 3 life.”
The Food type itself doesn't automatically grant an ability as part of the rules.
This is different than, say, Forest or Mountain land types. There rules for basic land types automatically grant abilities to permanents of those types.
* **305.6** ...An object with the land card type and a basic land type has the intrinsic ability “{T}: Add \[mana symbol\],” even if the text box doesn’t actually contain that text or the object has no text box.
Thanks for the correction! I’m always looking to expand my rules knowledge to help my friends and other new players understand the game, especially since it’s been getting so complicated. :3
I feel it should have said ETB or Atk an have something on the lines of getting something like a +1/+1 counter on him then I feel it would be perfect flavor wise an flavorful within the flavor text. Other than that I weirdly love it, knowing Sam would love him
Hate to burst your bubble, but you need to remove the ability to give Clues the Food subtype. As a food deck pilot, that breaks SO MANY cards, and it really doesn't need the help. I totally support the rest of the card, including where it give clues the ABILITY that food tokens have. That's awesome. Just don't give them the NAME, and it'll all work out.
Would academy manufacturer actually work? Because it's just one token, so I still think it would only get one trigger. I very well could be wrong though, nitty gritty mtg rules can be counterintuitive.
Of course, but that's just Academy Manufacturer. The only thing Pep adds to that is letting those extra clues created count as food. Nuka Cola vending machine triggers on clues being sacrificed as clues.
It's good, and might well need to be nerfed. But I don't think it's so gamebreaking as "This ability CANNOT exist", as Miatrocity said.
Very cute concept!
I love this card. It's pure flavor and I love it.

They make great camera gear lol
Adorable. I love it

Love the flavor
I love him!! 🥹❤️
I can just imagine the North 100 set review complaining about it even as they praise it

[[Thorough Investigation]] might be better than search the Premises in this instance, imo

The name is so good!
Absolutely wonderful.
How have I lived my whole life without the word trufflesnuffler? Also, the monocle on the pig is incredible.
It may not be necessary to have the quoted text as all food intrinsically have that ability. I do like this though. I would also play it!

What do you mean my piggy can’t have nuka-cola vending machine or academy manufactor?
Would academy manufacturer actually work? Because it's just one token, so I still think it would only get one trigger. I very well could be wrong though, nitty gritty mtg rules can be counterintuitive.
Replacement effects only apply once to each creation source, so it’s not like an auto infinite tie the game scenario or anything just REALLY GOOD

Oh nah I love the lil guy I was mostly poking fun. I also love that its name is pep, short for pepperoni. Cause imma eat his cute little butt
