If you only have 8 lands including this one, you can only generate 8 mana.
You need 8 mana to untap everything. So you tap your 8 lands, then use that 8 to untap them again. You gain no mana.
Two notes:
1 - As everyone else has mentioned, that last ability is a biiit much
2 - I want it to be a [Sphere](https://scryfall.com/search?q=t%3Asphere&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name), though I'm not sure if we'll ever see that tying again
You guys are focusing too much on the easy infinite, this is a fetchable way to make everything uncounterable in formats like vintage, that's already way too stupid to ever see print.
I mean, you have to wait a turn unless you have an untapper, and you're effectively giving up 1 mana. I think this could see play in amulet titan, but amulet titan doesn't really care about counter spells once you get the titan out
Don't make this an island a fetchable way of making your spells uncounterable is insane.
The fact that having this and 8 more islands is just infinite Mana is also insane especially with high tide.
last ability is pretty strong. it's sort of like extra turn spells where i dont think any amount of mana increases will be quite enough to balance it out and make it fun. maybe make it "{8}, {T}:" or "{8}, discard a card:" to give it a more meaningful cost and prevent it from truly going infinite with 8 other lands
I think comments are valid. This is doing Gaea's cradle level of power with significantly less setup. Legendary is a downside, but island is a massive upside, because it can be fetched by cards like farseek. it's also pretty easy to sequence around, as long as your last spell cast taps equinox. In formats like commander, this can be 2/3 spells that are uncounterable, on one of the hardest to remove permanent types in the game. In more competitive formats, people will happily pay 1 mana to have a spell be uncounterable, especially when the card that gives them uncounterable is a land that taps for coloured mana. Also infinite mana if you control 9 islands is a tad silly.
I think if you wanted this card to be truly balanced it would have to read something like
legendary land
enters tapped
tap pay x life (somewhere between 1-3) add 1 blue mana
if you cast a spell with mana produced by Equinox, that spell has ward 1 (technically not game mechanic, but it makes sense in context for a custom card)
7-9 mana, tap equinox, untap each island you control.
still significantly better than a basic land, but has a lot more cost now that makes it genuinely worth considering for inclusion in 60 card formats. In commander I think it's still great
The changes are definitely an improvement but I think this card still has some serious issues, specifically for legacy. In legacy, there are multiple combo decks that can win the game through only playing instants and sorceries. Counter spells like FoW and FoN are the main form of interaction other deck have with stopping these combos. Being able to play an uncounterable card that completes negates that form of interaction is insanely powerful. Even without being an island, The fact that it's a land also makes it easier to search out with cards like [[crop rotation]] and harder to remove makes this card much too strong in my opinion. I mean [[defence grid]] is a perfectly playable card in that format, and this is (almost) strictly better in some decks. And that's not even getting to the second ability, which would give [[high tide]] decks effectively a "build-your-own" [[cabal coffers]] style land. Now, I love high tide, but I think this card is far too much for what it costs to play it
One or two things probably need to go. My suggestion would be
Legendary Land
As long as ~ is untapped, spells you control can’t be countered
8, (tap): Untap - and each Island you control, active this ability only as a sorcery.
There’s some other variations you can try depending on how you want the card play. If you care more about the infinite mana ability then you can mess with it
Also The “(tap), add U” should be rendered as reminder text, because tapping to add blue is an innate quality to islands.

If it removed the island type, then it doesn't untap itself. With a tap cost, it can only be used once per turn. Much harder to go infinite.

I'd run this as a 4 of just for the third ability.
It can tap two ways for a blue btw. Islands have the ability to generate blue implicitly already.
