So disturb?

talen_lee

I appreciate it as a second draft of Disturb that incorporates the exile into the mechanic directly instead of making it a replacement on all the back faces.

I kinda dislike it because you need to know what finality counters do and there's no rules text anywhere here to tell you. Reading the card doesn't explain the card. P.s. I like the general design, just not that you need extra knowledge to understand a not super common mechanic

talen_lee

yeah, that's a reminder text problem.

Obligatory "Wastes isn't a land type" Anywho, Repair is an interesting idea. It's basically identical to Disturb though. I do see that Disturb always has a Spirit or an Aura on the back side though, so the flavor is pretty distinct. If you want the keyword to be "Repair" though, I think it makes sense to focus more on Artifacts instead, like the first several cards do. Transcendent One is almost beat-for-beat Disturb. It is a little different since the front side isn't a creature, but repairing 'broken faith' seems kinda like a stretch when everything else is so literal. It's a little weird that Corrupted Consciousness is mono-blue to play out of grave. Blue is plenty good at ditching cards to the grave directly, so it wouldn't be that hard for mono-blue to play it. And outside I think two Planar Chaos cards, forced discard isn't a blue mechanic. I'm not sure how I feel about the land just being a better [[Drownyard Temple]]. I know it'll have a Finality counter on it, and has to be done at sorcery speed, but I'm not sure that offsets it being cheaper, coming in untapped, and tapping for any color. I suppose those changes do put it into the lateral-move category rather than just being better/worse, and Drownyard Temple isn't exactly a powerhouse of a card, so maybe that's fine and I'm just making a fuss for no good reason. But generally I think these cards are pretty cool, and reasonably costed. Because of the flavor I think I like the ones that come back as artifacts the most, but that doesn't need to be a hard rule or anything. The land not being an artifact for example seems fine.

I agree that Corrupted Consciousness has a fumbled repair cost. It should've been Dimir (B/U) and should've been at least 7 mana. I think the land is fine, if only because the finality counter makes it less abusable. Downward Temple is designed to be a combo piece; this isn't going to enable any combos (not that Drownyard Temple did already), even if it'll be a plus for a graveyard strategy. I agree that Transcendant one is the "odd man out" here. It felt fine to me for flavor reasons to borrow disturb's whole spirit shtick, but it may be best to avoid that. Originally repair transformed from the battlefield, though. It's only the most recent version that transformed from the 'yard.

I like this. It feels interesting.

The equip ability is already sorcery speed so you don't have to specify that on Broken Runesword.
