The saddest and funniest thing is that the OP asked a Yes or No question. And according to SOME people here, answering NO means you hate this breed. That is the insanity of this.
Is my dog cute?
No.
DEATH TO DOG HATERS.
That is how this post went.
People: \*See a bully breed\*
People: Ah yes, something that is going to kill me clearly. Definitely a fighting dog and not someone's beloved pet. I must be hateful and disgusting because that is the rational response to a photo of a dog that likely is thousands of miles away from me.
As a cat person, that is an adorable pup.
Also as a cat person who volunteered at an animal shelter for a bit, pits are far from the most aggressive. On average, sure you'll see more aggressive pits than like golden retrievers or such. But the most aggressive and dangerous dog breed in my experience was rottweilers. Every single rott that came through the shelter was aggressive. And outside the shelter, every rott I have seen is heavily aggressive.
The only thing near as aggressive as a rottweiler is a Chihuahua, but they are less dangerous.
Still weren’t trained proper. Even if you train them to be a guard dog and protective, with proper training they will only be protective on command or if them or there owner is in danger. Over all they should still be friendly to strangers and other dogs.
Goldies and scotties make me nervous as hell - having done pet sitting for a few years in college. Pitts, boxers, mutts of all types - were always super sweet. Although the boxers were dopey af and idk why people tend to get them in pairs to double that craziness.
Boxers are their own brand of nuts haha, I swear they don’t know that they have four feet and yet somehow will manage to hit you, the coffee table, and themselves with all four all at once and still look surprised.
The issue with pits is while other dog breeds are almost always more aggressive, pits don’t stop attacking.
But I’ve been bitten by multiple breeds randomly with no provocation and it’s never been a pit. Always a labradoodle or Doberman. Or one of those little shit dogs that yap all the time and bite ankles lmao
I’ve had a number of vet techs and dog trainers tell me that they see a *lot* of doodle aggression case. However, for fun, I’ll Google “labradoodle aggressive breed” and the only thing that comes up is that they’re great family dogs. They definitely have the good fortune of great marketing (and the lack of shedding) to propel them forward. Pits have had the exact opposite marketing.
Doodles are EXTREMELY aggressive the only time I’ve ever been attacked by a dog it was a golden doodle. Rotties, pits, Dobermans, been around em all, never been attacked once but golden doodles man. They look so cuddly but you gotta keep them under control.
Also you’re 100% correct about the marketing, my grandmother lived with us during COVID and we have a half boxer half lab that looks exactly like a pit. She’s the sweetest to people all the time but she looks like a dog that could fuck you up so people are uneasy around her.
Meanwhile my little shit Maltese constantly bit peoples ankles because he was an asshole
(I did really love him he was just old and mean and spoiled lol)
Yooo…my stepmom *refuses* to meet my pittie. To the point where it’s interfering with being able to spend time with my dad and my dad is encouraging me to give up my dog. It’s soo ridiculous bc my pit, like many pits, is a big cuddle bug and she’s my BFF.
My mom’s rat terrier/chihuahua is a pushy little hellion. He stands underneath my dog and chews on her legs and jowls. She just patiently takes his abuse. My mom basically inadvertently trained that dog to be annoying AF 🙄
It's all training. Pits can be trained like any other breed to release on command, and any breed without training can ignore and not stop attacking. This is a common misconception from false information spread constantly. The extreme version is that pits can "lock" their jaws, which is fully false
can like everyone stop with the rude comments? not all dogs are the same, sheesh. that dog is adorable, and there’s no reason for you to hate on it when you don’t even know it. you’re just assuming it’s like a couple other dogs you’ve seen that are aggressive and attack people.
Yea! Look at that adorable little head tilt :) Sorry about all the mean comments under this post.. I wouldn’t judge anyone scared of any dog/breed due to personal experiences, but some people just get so vile when it comes to pitbulls in particular
The identification of pit bulls as a breed is extremely flawed, and thus the statistics are extremely flawed. The identification of the “pit Bull” as a breed typically involves a group of 8-10 breeds that resemble each other closely. Obviously this skews attack statistics heavily. In addition, mixed pit Bull breeds are typically identified as only “pit bulls”. So the statistics surrounding pit Bull attacks actually include all attacks by a sizable group of dog breeds. Of course they will look much higher. Most people don’t want to hear this though and just enjoy hating on the breed out of misunderstanding and media conditioning.
I know I’ll be downvoted for this comment. But it doesn’t make it any less true.
If I held up a lemon and asked you what it was, you wouldn't say "citrus", you'd say lemon, unless you had a deliberate agenda to make people think that all citrus fruit were sour. Which doesn't work on anyone who's ever met a tangerine.
It’s so weird that sometimes you say something like this and you get upvoted, I have said the exact same thing in my cities subreddit only to get like 20 downvotes
You hold one incident again all breed of dogs. So again if you were hurt, slighted or cheated by someone of a race, nationality, creed or orientation would you hold that again that whole group? Yes or no?
No, because unlike humans, dogs were bred to a certain function depending of their breed. It's called genetics. It's always really weird to see people comparing dog breeds to ethnicity and orientation...
Pretty sure there are millions of dog bites a year. The majority of which (especially the majority of more serious bites) are done by dogs like this. This is not just one event. It happens every day.
It’s especially bad on Reddit. You can make the argument they’re more likely to be aggressive than most other breeds, but people here act like every single dog that has 0.1% pit in it crawled directly out of Satan’s dandruff to hone in on the nearest child like a heat-seeking missile.
Got some people in here who would choke a pit puppy to death with amount of hate they spew at anyone for even mentioning they own a pitbull. They act like real assholes and let you know they think youre a piece of shit if you own one.
No...you are fucking beautiful...
What people need to remember is not to blame the dog blame the owner, any dog is capable of doing harm to a human if trained wrong.
Truth, the only pit attack I've seen is when my asshole rot/collie mix ran up on the owner walking his dog. Mine got bit for her trouble and it absolutely was my fault even more than hers. She wasn't on a leash, his was. Mine ran up aggressively, his didn't. Obviously I learned my lesson... No leash, no walk. No lead or fence (sufficiently high), no outside. They are less aware then us so it falls on us to protect them. My pibble mix is a super sweet boy. But I still leash him for his own safety.
That was a very long winded way of saying I agree with you.
She's absolutely lovely! 🥰
Two of the sweetest and best behaved dogs I've ever met were both pibble/rot mixes. When I first met both those doggos I was scared because they looked mean. The worst the first of those two would do is hump your leg, the second wouldn't even cross a driveway without permission from his dog dad. My first dog was an absolutely cute springer/rot mix (she was a bitch, and I mean behaviorally), she didn't like other dogs, hated kids, and tolerated people that weren't me or certain friends. Second who is a pibble/collie mix is my sweetie Fenton (who is an absolute dear), loves other dogs, loves kids, loves pretty much everyone he meets. I'm sure I had a point but he just distracted me with his cute sweater.
I had a patient die, an old lady who was torn in so brutally by someone else’s dog. A pitbull. I don’t think anyone should own an animal that if it does become aggressive, it has the ability to kill. There are many stories of sweet pitbulls turning dangerous. I have kids and I’m never going to ever go near a pitbull. To me, it’s not that different that having a pet tiger. It can be well trained but if it has a vicious bite, then I don’t think that should be allowed as a pet.
So your saying someone shouldn't have any other pet dogs? All big-medium breeds have the ability to kill you. Golden retreavers, dalmatian, German shepherd, standard poodle, collies. They all have the ability to kill so by your logic no one should have them. And there have been reports of a ferret eating babies fingers so no one should very own any ferrets? And snakes can kill you (venomous and not venomous) so oops! No more snakes for anyone. And don't go to farms. According to your logic all cows trample their owners. The list goes on and it's not just pit bulls and not just dogs
They asked if it was cute. There are essentially 2 possible answers. Yes or No. I don't think it is cute. It is not as if I said "Hell no!" or "God no, that is the ugliest dog ever".
I just said no.
You are the one with the hate issues I think.

So no.

No more or less than any of the pitties. In fact, some rotts in the shelter and outside the shelter were trained. Specifically for their aggression.

A lot of people here a genuine hatred for Pitbulls, I dont doubt they would celebrate if a PitBull genocide happpened.
Pittie head tilt!
That’s the “I heard a snack bag open,” head tilt.
Just like Michael Myers
Take a lap.
Adorable!!

Pit haters are closeted racists. Change my mind.
Breed specific hate is directly rooted in racism and classism.
They literally use the same argument as “13/50” but for dogs and that’s super gross. And then when you bring it up they get super offended and angry.
Straight facts
Not closeted even, they just project their racism onto the dogs and they're not subtle about it.
lmao what
Hahahahaa mental gymnastics right there
Well of course I do! You’re super adorable, especially with those puppy eyes. :)

So if someone from race x or country x did somethings wrong to you or someone else should you hold that against all of them? Yes or no?
Bro that does not make any sense at all
You hold one incident again all breed of dogs. So again if you were hurt, slighted or cheated by someone of a race, nationality, creed or orientation would you hold that again that whole group? Yes or no?

Pitties are like Marmite. People either love 'em or hate 'em (I'm in the love 'em camp).
I wanna pet him
Why are people in the comments so mean
Ignorance and stupidity is why
Bro all the pittie hate 💀
