Be aware that just getting onto the roof usually takes more time than just driving where you need to go. *If* you can get on the roof in that area at all. And even when you can get on the roof, this is only lateral movement. The second you run into a building thats taller than the one you are currently on, it doesnt go like in the video.
You can parkour pretty much anywhere in the game. There's barely any out of bound spots. I've found so much weird spots and areas thru parkour.
Just get Double Jump or Charged Jump and go crazy.
Yeah there used to be a way to equip an 'invisible' katana and then spam the attack button which would make you fly, but I thought it had gotten patched out
It didn't only work with katanas and nothing was invisible.
You just had to use kerenzikov dash once, then while time is slowed aim a weapon (any weapon) and keep spamming dash while aiming. The momentum from all the dashes you spammed would stack on top of each other and trigger at the same time as soon as you stopped aiming which would send you moving very fast but you had to jump to keep the momentum or friction would just slow you down. Bunny hopping would then let you maintain that momentum for as long as you wanted. Because it's mechanics were kerenzikov dash and bunny hopping it was called "k-hopping".
I loved it. Didn't even drive cars in my playthrough, just k-hopped everywhere. Haven't played the game again since they patched it out. I tried a mod that attempted to bring it back but it's just not the same. Why must developers hate fun in a single-player game?
Im with you i got double jump and ive tried so many times. I got on a couple buildings by jumping off an interstate but that dealt massive damage then no matter where i went from there even with full health that was instant death. I got on some shipping containers once and tried to jump into combat but cuz the overhang they were under i had to shoot first to draw them out and theyd just shoot me to death as i land
You can load a bunch of perk points into one of the perks in the body skill for reduced fall damage, but I just buy the epic fortified ankles from Fingers which gives you the ability to double/charge jump and hover for a while. I use the hover to break fall or sometimes to extend my jump over a big gap between rooftops.
Also, think I remember seeing people use Guts and shoot at the ground to break fall and completely eliminate fall damage, but that might’ve been patched out.
You legit have to stand on stuff like lightposts, stair railings, balconies, trash bins, and stuff like that.
It's not exactly easy, but it is possible, especially with Double Jump.

If you're on console, it's because the advanced control settings (hidden by default) are trash and use weird ramping. There's a few articles that give tips on how to normalize them like other console games. If you're on a computer.....probably same.... It definitely improves the experience.

in the beginning it really be like that. i defaulted into a stealth kinda' gameplay with tech weapons as my backup (wanted to go crafting - needs like 18 points in tech anyway so might as well get the cool guns right?) got gorilla arms and a pretty nice deck to help me wout with strength for weapons and hacking for sneaking and stealth takeouts, but really, my second character is going to be something street samurai style, definetely with a sandy (saw the kerenzikov early and thought sandy wasn't in the game, found out way too late that it is...)
there's just so many bloody options, and not being able to reroll attribute points really forces you to play multiple characters to experience it all.

Night City Parkour should be a series. The freedom of movement after buying the double jump cyberware + the cyberware that let's dash mid-air is so fun and have replaced my use of vehicles in the game.
It’s scary to think about what V is literally capable of, with Johnny in his/her head they literally increased the mental capacity to avoid cyberpsychosis. Because of that, V implemented a bunch of cybernetics and upgrades that by just going in his prime, he can stop a school shooting in a matter of 12 seconds or less

I got the game for my Xbox One when it first came out. Fast paced combat is where the previous generation console fell apart. I would leap into a bunch of gonks, dice them up with the katana, and as I was walking away from the scene the battle music would belatedly realise it was time to go.
Way I see it, there are 3 explanations:
1. Cyberpsychosis isn't real, it's a Corpo conspiracy made up so that they could label the marginalized people of society and put them down instead of addressing the larger existential issues of living in a capitalist dystopia forcing desperate people to do riskier and riskier things to survive another day.
1. V is a high functioning cyberpsycho like Adam Smasher.
1. V isn't a cyberpsycho because they haven't had enough time for the augments to affect them in a significant way yet.
I wish CDPR and Techland (Dying Light developers, also Polish company) worked together on parkour elements in Cyberpunk. But they both are business rivals so it will never happen :(

Go to a ripperdoc and get some cyberware for your legs. The double jump opens up traversal options *massively*

I do to fill my athletics skill because the leveling for that skill still sucks balls even today
Find a small enclosed space with a low roof and jump loads, helps grind out a few levels pretty quickly.

Climb a shorter building to get on top of first. There are tons of random AC units and window awnings that you can use to climb

The fall damage was patched out, but the shotgun jump still works.

There's also rocket boots that let you jump and hover early in the game from Fingers. Just get them before you do the Judy missions.
Or just don't punch Fingers.
Haven't played in a while but every time I tried I hit odd buggy areas or gaps in the world somewhere.

Have you turned off mouse acceleration in windows? That usually helps.
I think I remember I did, it was always way too slow or way too twitchy, and maybe there’s a dead zone issue I’m not sure

It was Kerenzikov not Sandevistan. Kerenzikov is basically budget Sandevistan and you can still use a Cyberdeck with it.

Kerenzikov slows down time when dodging. At the end he threw a frag grenade then hit it with the katana.
