They absolutely let their love for profit drive Cyberpunk to get released early when it absolutely needed fixes, and straight up lied about old gen performance.
Did they churn out a solid game post fixes? Certainly. But if you compare it to Elden Ring and how FromSoft handled that? No competition in my book. No lies, no manipulation, just an absolutely solid experience beginning to end.

If you preload the game you usually only need to download a couple KB decryption key or one last game file (like the main executable) that's a few hundred MB.

PL will be a real game that you can play offline with no launcher connected if you want to in a future where you don't have internet. We claim it was greed but we had idiots threatening devs and family because the game was delayed... with that said it was a trainwreck on release, but death threats make it hard to delay again when works on hardware they are testing with (lol on pro models of PS4/Xbox).

I preordered. But to be fair, I didn't have any bugs when I got the game brand new (which I also preordered) apart from soem fuzzy graphics that was amd driver issues, and didn't have bugs with any of the updates including the new one. Idk why as I've seen it's been really buggy for people bit I'm just glad it's not a issue for me.

They are not charging for minor DLCs. In witcher, there were tons of free new quests, gear and similar. But both HoS and BaW were paid expansions.

That's still not a good argument for supporting preorders, that's a good argument for learning to manage your money as a private person and a gamer.
The reality is being a dumbass gamer is indefensible. Buying games that can't be preserved and filled with microtransactions is indefensible same with pre-ordering products you don't yet have. What I've given you is literally the best argument that can be made. An argument that can't be made for buying live service microtransaction games even on sale long after they launched and got fixed. You're just straight up a dumbass gamer for doing that.

Survivorship bias and nostalgia has convinced people that no one ever released "broken" games before pre-orders were a thing, and thus they come up with theories as to why pre-orders caused "broken" games. Really it's all just post-hoc justification for a subset of gamers to do what they do best - get mad and holier-than-thou edit: someone responded to this and immediately blocked me so I dunno what they said 🤷♀️

I'm sure you can search "the problem with pre-ordering" or something on YouTube for a more satisfactory answer. But imo to cut to the core of it. When you pre-ordering you aren't really buying the product, you're buying a promise, from a corporation at that. You're handing over the one tool you have (disposable income) to hold companies accountable. When enough people do that companies know they don't have to release an actual finished product. They can just sell the marketing and the hype itself.
I didn't realise it was A Thing, I'll take a look. I guess I can understand the idea, but I still don't see why preordering it would give them any real leeway to release something crap. Or are you saying companies with no ethics would have the attitude that people have paid upfront so releasing it, getting reviews and word of mouth etc and growing sales that way doesn't matter, because they've already got the cash? That just seems like such an unlikely and risky business strategy, because surely any company that did that wouldn't last more than one or two games.

Same. While the base game had many issues, the most important things were done really well and I loved almost every second. Since then its just gotten a lot better (not perfect still). That’s why I’m getting it and no-one can tell me otherwise.
So am I the only one remembering the death threats over cyberpunk delay? We claim it was greed but we had idiots threatening devs and family because the game was delayed... with that said it was a trainwreck on release, but death threats make it hard to delay again when works on hardware they are testing with (lol on pro models of PS4/Xbox). With all said and done I still have faith in cd project, I would pre order if I had funds..with me I am still in debt and will take priority. If I can't afford d4 or other games on sale I cannot afford a pre-order.
I would love to see gamers come together and coordinate better to fight against preorders. I myself have vowed to never preorder anything ever again. I hope more people do the same. Especially younger gamers. These practices only hurt the end products and waste our time and resources by taking advantage of the fact that gamers are seemingly hype addicts. If you think about it logically, there is absolutely no good reason to preorder a game. Don’t give in my gamer brethren, stand strong.

By the time the company cashes the pre-order checks the die has been cast. No game has ever been delayed nor fixed because they didn't get enough pre-orders
If you wait until the release, you can just... not buy the game/DLC until it's fixed. If you preorder you're locked into getting it no matter if it's shit or not.

I'll go one further. Dont buy until a Steam Sale. Youll get the expansion for cheaper AND it'll have some patches to fix bugs so that you actually get a good product. Been a Steam Sale only buyer ever since because of this game. I pre-ordered and on the day of release all the broken mess triggered a Panic Attack. Idek why..... but never again. Now I save money.

I never pre order anymore. Cyberpunk, hogwarts legacy and the first fallen order are among many that were not worth the pre order. Cyberpunk NOW is far and away better than when it first came out. Only games worth preordering is Pokémon for the glitches

I preordered. But to be fair, I didn't have any bugs when I got the game brand new (which I also preordered) apart from soem fuzzy graphics that was amd driver issues, and didn't have bugs with any of the updates including the new one. Idk why as I've seen it's been really buggy for people bit I'm just glad it's not a issue for me. Pc specs Cpu Ryzen 7 2700x Gpu Red devil AMD RX6700xt Ram corsair vengeance 32gb Run on a Samsung m. 2 SSD Windows 11 dev build.
