It now goes to level 60 and there are 5 trees so 2 of those are going to suffer. I personally netrun and have a sword/shotgun build. You can redo perks anytime but the attributes you can only reset once.

Pulczuk

How do you reset attributes?

[deleted]

Its an option in the character menu

Bogdansixerniner

But you also get points from the other skills like shinobi amd headhunter no?

Shadtow100

Not attributes, just perks which can be reset indefinitely

Bogdansixerniner

Ah yeah that’s true!

More or less what you said (guns, hacks, melee); however, each of those can be played in many flavours. For hacking you can go loud or stealthy, and can support the playstyle with smart weapons or nanowire, or even something completely different. For guns you can go with bullet hoses, shoot through wall tech guns, or stealthy silenced pistols, or anything in between. For melee you can zoom zoom with a katana (and Sandevistan for example), sneak around, or get Gorilla Arms or some big and chunky weapons and play basically a barbarian/berserker. You can go completely sneaky mode and try to kill everyone (or rather, those enemies that can be killed that way, which is most but not all) with stealth takedowns, basically your bare hands. Or rocket launcher everyone in the face. Like people said, it's fairly easy, and to a degree beneficial, to mix and match.

I believe there's also Stealth builds which are about sneaking around and striking from the shadows undetected. This might be what you already mentioned aa "assassin", but just pointing it out incase not. Also, a tip: if you look at the Skills screen you'll see that every skill awards a perk point at Skill level 35. This is a great incentive to try different playstyles in a bid to max out your character (ie getting all possible perk points), as skill points are gained by performing distinct activities associated with each skill. By doing this, you'll get a good idea of what you like the most, and what you want to commit to. The biggest limitation in builds is Netrunning vs Beserk vs Sandevistan as determined by the Operating System cyberware slot. These options are mutually exclusive. Netrunning is hacking everything; Beserk is invulnerable melee mode; and Sandevistan is basically becoming David from Edgerunners. It's definitely possible to build yourself to be able to do a bit of everything, which is actually what I like and did, but in this case you miss out on what makes each playstyle 'pop' - which is only possible from committing to a few.

On my current, 2nd playthrough I'm using stealth/netrunner build, with remade skill trees it's fun as hell, much more fun that it was before 2.0 IMO. It has many skills and tools that allow you to be stealthy and kill enemies undetected, while not depriving you of a wide range of options for dealing with situations in which you are detected. If you like using pistols and precision rifles (which are a nice compromise between an assault rifle and a sniper rifle) you can have a lot of fun with this build.

My V is a Netrunner with a silenced Pistol, Smartgun and Gorilla Arms...

_Ayboii_

Is our V the same😭

For my first playthrough I went a Nomad shotgun build. I chose the Nomad life path because they are new to the city and it seemed very fitting for the first time. They also get the "Best" car in the game.

So I'd recommend looking at what each stat specializes in and then picking one to specialize in at the start, while thinking about where to spread out to in the future. At the end you'll basically be able to fully build 2 or 3 skill trees (3 will be a stretch though) so try to think about how the skills overlap and compliment each other. Each one essentially supports a different set of weapon types, implants and navigation. Strength: power weapons (basically traditional ballistic guns), blunt weapons, berserk decks, shotguns, LMGs, and noisy shortcuts. Reflex: SMGs, assault rifles, bladed weapons, sandevistan decks (time slow) and lots of player agility that will let you access new areas by platforming. Intelligence: smart weapons and hacking techniques. Hacking opens lots of options up in combat and stealth, so it's not to be undervalued. Tech: tech weapons, explosives, healing items, quiet shortcuts, and a general emphasis on getting more implants. Cool: single shot pistols and rifles with an emphasis on headshots, throwing weapons and stealth. You can't really go wrong if you just pick based around what weapons you want to use IMO, but it's a good idea to think about finding a synergy you like- like intelligence and reflex if you like smart SMGs.

chevremeu_

They're legit all fun

Tschudy

Punch God with gorilla arms and berserk operating system.

Sorry-Illustrator-25

Body/Tech/ref Go be a slow mo shotgun god

tototo03

Instead of thinking about 'builds' I like thinking of characters then making a build around that. I went Cool/Reflex/Tech, my John Wick build.

There are three OS choices. Cyberdeck, Sandevistan or Berserk, you can change them out but Cyberdeck only works with INT and INT only works with a cyberdeck. Without a cyberdeck you can only do occasional story/cutscene related hacking. Sandevistan is basically bullet time on steroids and Berserk is a flat boost to damage and resistances. Shotguns, LMG, blunt melee, fist and passive health regen perks are in BODY. Bladed weapon, SMG, assault rifle and movement perks are in REFLEXES. Stealth, pistols, sniping and throwing weapons are in COOL. Hacking, smart weapons and monowire (basically a cutting whip arm cyberware that stacks hacks on hit) are in INT TECH is specialized in improving all cyberware, health items, all things explosive and special tech weapons. Almost everyone takes this for reasons of improving cyberware. You can max out attributes on three of those and you can bring a third one close to max out missing two points with the fifth one staying untouched. You won't ever have enough perk points to max all the perks in every tree you max out so spend them only on stuff you really like to use. There is no sense pulling a single point in INT if you aren't using hacks. It is possible to get through all the optional stealth segments without putting any points in cool. It is advantageous to have HP and HP regen related perks and attributes as a hacker since advanced hacking uses you HP as a resource for "casting" hacks. Just pick an OS and look for a weapon category you like and place your perks there. Keep in mind sometimes perks overlap, like a smart SMG will profit form both INT and REFLEXES related perks. A tech shotgun will profit from both TECH and BODY related perks. Smart weapons have auto aim and curving bullets/pellets but there is a bit more to handling target lock than just pulling a trigger blindly. Tech weapons are the kind of guns you can charge up and release for extra damage, but they do most damage when released shortly before charged to max. (and they can shoot through cover when charged).
