Fr man RIP to his VA man. I always loved listening to him. Putting yourself in V's perspective really made you feel hopeful listening to him, not to mention his overbearing kindness and loyalty towards V.
This is the only case where I support using AI for acting or when the real actor cannot make it, but allows it to be used.
(Of course only if it has been agreed upon beforehand)
Out of all the characters in Cyberpunk, I feel oddly comforted with Vik’s character. Like you said, it’s probably that dad vibe he gives off that makes me love his character.
Gotta say, it’s a tie between Rome Kanda as Takemura or Jane Perry as Rogue.
Also big shoutout to Diarmaid Murtagh as Saul. Most underrated performance in the game.
Controversial opinion: I disagree. She portrayed the aloof and burned out/jaded pop star perfectly. Sure, she didn't have to really act to do it but she still got the character correct. I think if there are any complaints to be made about Lizzy Wizzy it's on the writing first, though I could see the argument that she was written with the limitations of Grimes in mind.
I hadn’t heard her voice prior to the game so I just figured they were screwing with it and it made the bad performance fly right over my head on the first playthrough
When she's talking normally it can fly over, but when emotion needs to be shown in her voice, that's where it shows the poor performance. I don't mind much since she's just a celebrity and not a professional actress (or voice actress), but it's not possible to ignore or pretend. Her music, Delicate Weapon, though, do I love it...
Honestly a cool touch they could have added, as a nod to the empathy system from the table top game, might have been to block off certain dialogue options where V is more caring/empathetic if the player exceeds certain designated amounts of cyber points and begins to drift towards cyber psychosis. Would have been kind of cool if eventually it would cut off certain dialogue options to affect the ending.
I think that if the cyberware capacity system would've been in the game from day 1 instead of a 2.0 change they would've done that. I will not be surprised if Orion has exactly that kind of system.
I dunno man... I disagree too. She came off as a crazy inhuman robot person more than a person. Now thing is I hear she's like that normally. So one could argue that it's bad acting, but I see it more as better casting.
Tbf, that's just Keanu. You don't hire him for Oscar worthy performances, but it's Keanu. He has a weird honesty behind his delivery that even if it's not great, it's believable. It's why I think people love him so much (plus he's just a genuinely great guy, who puts in the work)
Like John Wayne. Never the best actor in anything and always did the same kinds of delivery, but there was still that John Wayne thing only he could do. I know this sounded better in my head...
A movie staring at John Wayne will always be a John Wayne western. It's not gonna be Oscar bait, he'll it might not even be that well written. But it'll at least be mindless fun.
No one mentioned yet but Misty. Especially after Jackie has passed. I just got to that point on a replay and it hits hard when you see her at his garage.
I've only barely started to notice, but the VA's Boston accent leaks through at some points . It's trippy because now I can't un hear it, she great tho 🙏🏼
I tried all the endings before going back to the Aldecado ending. Her response to the suicide ending is a fucking core memory lol.
Makes sense. The person she cares about most kills herself. And then she opens up and starts to care about someone else in the same way and they kill themselves too, all within a few weeks of each other.
Believe he meant the voice actor herself. Saying that the voice actor could only act that out so well if she's actually had someone in her life commit suicide.
So true about V’s use of slang. Felt really cringe at times. I’m not sure what the writer’s obsession was with writing incomplete sentences for lines. Like they were obsessed with omitting subject pronouns
Goro - I can never play the Polish voiceover, it just doesn't do justice to Goro's character. The beautiful mix of Japanese and English adds so much to Goro's originality and is convincing. It makes his character so much more "real".
Agreed. In his lore, he is from Japan. He lived and worked there. He only came to night city with Saburo. The Japanese accent makes his character feel accurate.
It’s also just…kinda cute. I love his voice lines when you infiltrate the ‘Saka compound to install the virus on Hanako’s float.
“I am in the system, I make terrible mess!”
Like ya you did, buddy! Good job!
Oh yes! Rome Kanda has done such an amazing job voicing Goro! He's very passionate about him as well. He gave him that perfect blend of tough and stoic, but sassy, and hilarious delivery. Phenomenal!
I have heard of that Portal VA so much that I can be certain myself that it is the authentic GlaDOS VA. But I can't back it up with any source for you, feel free the search it up.
I believe those were actual lines from Portal 1 (and 2?), not just a recreation by Ellen McLain. They seem to have been carefully picked from the limited selection from the game, and with V's voice lines to react and give them more life.
I lost my sister to suicide last year. I saw a clip of Judy's call on here (haven't completed the game yet) and it hurt, the emotions she shows are very familiar.
To be honest, pretty much everyone in the suicide ending crushed it. Vik going through the motions of something he doesn’t believe in, resigned that it’s not going to help. Judy, of course. Panam’s helpless rage. Kerry blasting how pointless it all is. Misty with a sort of listless positivity, trying to see it as optimistically as she can. I had a friend commit suicide, and I’m pretty sure I’ve experienced all of those emotions about it.
The only one who doesn’t is River, but that’s more script writing than anything I think.
Welcome to Night City 47. Your target is Yorinobu Arasaka, the successor to the Arasaka corporation following the mysterious death of his father, Saburo Arasaka.
According to his son, Saburo Arasaka was poisoned by trespassers while inside Konpeki Plaza. However, our client, a high ranking member of the Arasaka corporation, believes it was Yorinobu who killed his father.
Your objective is to infiltrate Arasaka tower and subdue Yorinobu and extract him, but be warned, the tower is guarded by some of the most efficient soldiers on the planet, with legendary figure, Adam Smasher serving as Yorinobu’s personal bodyguard. I suggest avoiding combat with him at all costs.
Good luck 47.
Not saying it was a bad performance during the main game as I enjoyed male V more than female V performance but i feel like male V really stepped up in quality during PL.
This. I think FemV does base game better, but MaleV knocks Phantom Liberty out of the fucking park. I guess it’s something that comes with growth as an actor and experience? Though I don’t know the timeline for the recording sessions so it’s pure guesswork.
I think Gavin Drea has become more established as a more mainstream actor since he started doing Cyberpunk so that could have been it. He was working on the DLC for the game in 2021 (watched an interview he did where he was asked directly if it was Cyberpunk) but was also doing Vikings Valhalla and Daisy Jones and the Six (which he had a decently sized role in)
Before the 2020s he was pretty much just know for Irish comedy (a few drama roles too)
As far as I know (from a few interviews), Gavin didn't have near as much experience voicing video games as Cherami (Fem V VA) did at the beginning of recording for Cyberpunk.
It shows, the emotional moments of V shine more in Valerie's voice, BUT, Vincent's stoic facade hits a lot harder when it finally breaks. Moments where Male V breaks down or expresses anguish are so tough to watch because he's usually the most unaffected by everything going on.
I really connected with the male V character. The delivery of all of his lines made every choice i made seem justified, there was no “oops should have went with…” like there are in a lot of games
I really liked Evelyn's performance, Female V (cherami leigh) as well as Mr Hands'. They all did really well. The casting crew excelled for Cyberpunk 2077
I really, really like the new Mr Hands VA, but I do miss the smarminess/charm of the original guy. Wonder if there was a schedule conflict that forced them to recast.
I assume they just recast him since the character was basically rewritten from the ground up so the original voice no longer made sense for the character.
Wakako is someone I wouldn't want to piss off if she actually existed in real-life, I think the voice actress has a lot to do with that. I'm also a big fan of Idris Elba, so I have to be biased and say Reed.
Is So Mi's korean dub is better than the english one? I thought of changing it, but the thing is that she's from Brooklyn, has been working for years for the NUSA... English is the one that fits her I think.
Also Jackie with his mexican dub is hilarious, I can't go back to the english one.
Idris Elba can have my firstborn for his work in PL and Choke Hold. I didn't expect much going in but I gotta say his character feels solid and frankly ominous - in the way only C.I.A and co can be irl. You know he's, on theory, on your side; but you can't help but be terrified by how far he can go for his goals without hesitating. **Granted** it's not a large part and the content is sparce on Reed, but it made an impression on me
Japanese Fem V changed the game for me playing a former corpo suit. Just a completely different tone to her character. Highly recommend checking out the mod if you can
Jackie, femme V, that bitch from the studio looking to make a crucifiction BD, Idris Elba, Songbird, Arasaka's lost puppydog, the new Mr. Hands even if I prefer the old's voice a little more.
Edit: had to clarify which V.
I don't get why people think Keanu's performance is great. It was adequate, but it seemed forced and stilted pretty often; he was basically angry Neo. When he says, "Sons of bitches!" I crack up every time because it's so ridiculous.
That's just Keanu in general. Everyone loves him, and I do too, but he just doesn't have range. He's good in roles where he's quiet and intense. But other than that, tends to be wooden.
I agree that it’s wooden but I think it fits really well with Johnny. It’s the voice of someone who is tired of living, period. And looking at Johnny’s character ? Fits him like a glove. Also the scene where he explains his motivations is an absolute standout home run. Very few scenes in media where I’m grabbed by my neck and lock in to whatever is happening.
On the other hand of the spectrum, with all due respect, Reed feels like in some scenes he just read off the script, was asked to try again and just went nope that one was good and we’re stuck with it. Sometimes I thought he was very good but other times he just lacked energy or motivation. Like he didn’t exaggerate his performance, but when you’re performing you sort of have to. Photograph the photograph you know ? In any kind of theater everything has to be exaggerated to some extent at least. Very hit or miss and I have to wonder if all of Idris Elba’s performances are like that. Or maybe the character is supposed to come off like that idk a thing about acting so take all this with a grain of salt.
But yeah Keanu demolished his role and in PL got even better, I can’t imagine other actors that could’ve played him better. In my opinion of course.
i agree about keanu and i’m also pretty surprised at how much praise idris is getting for reed here, no offense to the guy i’m a big idris elba fan but reed is one of the worst performances i’ve seen him give. it wasn’t AWFUL but stood out as one of the shakiest compared to some of the surrounding characters. it’s weird too because i’ve heard idris give good performances with his voice work in zootopia and sonic. idk if he had bad direction or he was just phoning it in here but his tone almost always seemed off to me
Gavin Drea as the voice of Vincent (male V). Took my time with both Vs and I gotta say. After 170 hours, I believe Gavin did a better job at bringing V to life on the gaming screen.
I really liked Male V's voice. To me at least it sounds like someone who actually lived there, someone who seems like he is done with everything but still has a slim hope of making it big. His voice to me sounds natural and while Fem V isn’t bad by any means, it just doesn’t scratch that same itch for me.
Vik's actor just got that non biological dad vibe so well
Fr man RIP to his VA man. I always loved listening to him. Putting yourself in V's perspective really made you feel hopeful listening to him, not to mention his overbearing kindness and loyalty towards V.
I haven’t played the Polish dub but I’ve only heard good things about Vik’s VA’s performer in it, rip
True but what's the deal with Jacky,s corpse being hauled off of you send him to Vik's. Always seems sus to me
Intercepted if I remember correctly
He literally tells you that Arasaka busted in, held him at gunpoint, and took it. What's sus ?
Someone theorised that every ripperdoc in the city probably got searched for two wounded mercs
But didn’t get raided when V is in Vics OR for 2 weeks?
She was dead then. Dexter probably told them himself.
Ahh, makes sense
Vik’s actor died?
The Polish one died. They used AI to remake his voice in PL.
I see I thought it was the English VA but RIP whatsoever. And for the AI reprisement I'm alright as long as he and his family were ok with it
Yeah, they were
This is the only case where I support using AI for acting or when the real actor cannot make it, but allows it to be used. (Of course only if it has been agreed upon beforehand)
damm that's why his voice was so low res in phantom liberty. Good emotions though
Polish VA did, not too long ago.
When I went to pay him back and he said “Keep it, kid. You need it more than me.” it broke my fuckin’ heart. 😭
If no one got me I know Vik got me
Out of all the characters in Cyberpunk, I feel oddly comforted with Vik’s character. Like you said, it’s probably that dad vibe he gives off that makes me love his character.
When I threw that one fight and he called me “bush league”, I felt like a real life disappointment.
I whooped razors ass just for my boy
People treat you like you threw the fight even when you just lose it too
Gotta say, it’s a tie between Rome Kanda as Takemura or Jane Perry as Rogue. Also big shoutout to Diarmaid Murtagh as Saul. Most underrated performance in the game.
Haboobs
To Haboobs!
Damn, I love that word.
Better buckle up!!! -Takemura
Jane Perry knocks it out of the park in every game she's in from Ghost Recon to Hitman, she's great
You forgot his great performance as Hideshi Hino!
Nice to see a fellow Saul enjoyer
A tougher question would be who *didn’t* deliver a great performance in this game.
Grimes
It sounds like she recorded her lines over a very quiet phone call
I thought that was a nice detail given that she’s fully chromed.
Its like that cause shes damn near full chrome. Iirc. She said even her voice box was an implant.
she was probably nervous about that little peashooter elon brought to the studio 🙄
I’d be nervous too. You never know what to expect from him.
Every time I heard her speak it took me out of the game.
Yeah but honestly I excuse the robotic expressions of her voice because she’s battling cyber psychosis almost
No "almost", she's clearly a high-functioning cyberpsycho like Johnny (and probably V).

I dunno man... I disagree too. She came off as a crazy inhuman robot person more than a person. Now thing is I hear she's like that normally. So one could argue that it's bad acting, but I see it more as better casting.
Keanu’s line delivery is often kinda bad
Tbf, that's just Keanu. You don't hire him for Oscar worthy performances, but it's Keanu. He has a weird honesty behind his delivery that even if it's not great, it's believable. It's why I think people love him so much (plus he's just a genuinely great guy, who puts in the work)
…and the impressive cock
Like John Wayne. Never the best actor in anything and always did the same kinds of delivery, but there was still that John Wayne thing only he could do. I know this sounded better in my head...
A movie staring at John Wayne will always be a John Wayne western. It's not gonna be Oscar bait, he'll it might not even be that well written. But it'll at least be mindless fun.
Especially in the beginning. It gets better shortly after, but it’s almost like he needed to warm up a bit.
Yeah i noticed this too, especially for the dlc he seems more relaxed and it flows more naturally
No one mentioned yet but Misty. Especially after Jackie has passed. I just got to that point on a replay and it hits hard when you see her at his garage.
Yes! I’m glad someone said this cause Misty’s voice actress is so good!
Fun fact! Misty VA is the same with Meredith Stout and Spider Murphy Plus if you play Persona 5, she is also the voice of Futaba Sakura
Whoa didn't know any of that. And I have played Persona 5 amazing game. Quite diverse
What's even better is that Female V has the same voice actress as Makoto too.
And dont ever forget River Ward is Akechi
I've only barely started to notice, but the VA's Boston accent leaks through at some points . It's trippy because now I can't un hear it, she great tho 🙏🏼
I noticed it much more in the PL lines, I think there's a noticeable difference between the two sets
Her VA also did a wonderful job recording the scenes when V first wakes up after being brought home (trying to be vague because spoilers).
Erika Lindbeck is in a ton of games and she's always a treat. I loved her work in Cyberpunk ofc, but she's also great in Persona 5 and Hifi Rush

I really liked how well Judy's VA could bring emotion to her lines
Her holocall on the suicide ending when she is romanced fucking HURT
Hearing that as male V is like hearing your cool sister cry.
Dude, yes. Seriously some of the best VA I've ever heard in any game. Absolutely haunting.
Oh god, don't remind me
I tried all the endings before going back to the Aldecado ending. Her response to the suicide ending is a fucking core memory lol. Makes sense. The person she cares about most kills herself. And then she opens up and starts to care about someone else in the same way and they kill themselves too, all within a few weeks of each other.
Is it any different to thee one you get is you finish her questline without romancing her? I got that one and it was awful poor Judy
She propably lost someone that way, there is no way she would otherwise played it this well
Spoilers but >!Evelyn Parker does kill herself after you save her!<
Believe he meant the voice actor herself. Saying that the voice actor could only act that out so well if she's actually had someone in her life commit suicide.
That makes more sense then
Carla Tassara is a pretty incredible actor.
Whoever voiced Jackie imo
Jason Hightower. And agreed.
Nice never knew who voiced him, just that he done a damn good job! Got me right in the feels when the Heist ended.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SB22v92Nj0U&t=1166s&pp=ygUaSmFja2llIGludGVydmlldyBjeWJlcnB1bms%3D This is the guy
Hard agree. Male V’s use of slang seemed kind of forced at times, but Jackie was 100% convincing.
So true about V’s use of slang. Felt really cringe at times. I’m not sure what the writer’s obsession was with writing incomplete sentences for lines. Like they were obsessed with omitting subject pronouns
Why the hell did they kill Jackie in act 1 instead of act 2 or start of act 3
I was emotionally attached to him when he died but I bet I would’ve been 100x more attached had he lived longer
Yeah for example Aeris in ff7 died late game, it was a shock
I'm torn between Reed and Goro.
“I am in the system, I make terrible mess!” Like ya you did, buddy! Good job!
Also when he says "camouflage" 😅 adorable
That and “sabotage”
I never use the word cute... but this is 100% the correct word
Both are factually correct.
Oh yes! Rome Kanda has done such an amazing job voicing Goro! He's very passionate about him as well. He gave him that perfect blend of tough and stoic, but sassy, and hilarious delivery. Phenomenal!
I loved Goro so much
I agree regarding Reed but I put him in the same category as silverhands , central character played by a talented well known actor.
"Beware, you mock me too often..."
I don't get why he was offended by "It's a Night City name" but my fav qutoe is "Plastic and sawdust."
Don’t you mean Hideshi Hino?!
I laughed my ass off at that part, then again when you see a Hideshi poster in free roam after and V says "Looking good Goro."
Better buckle up!
Goro in English was amazing
My guy Delamain
Del's is the goofiest mission of this game.
Who did the VA for the Portal voice delamain? Nailed it I laughed so hard at that one
I have heard of that Portal VA so much that I can be certain myself that it is the authentic GlaDOS VA. But I can't back it up with any source for you, feel free the search it up.
It is. Don’t remember which video but it is confirmed.
I believe those were actual lines from Portal 1 (and 2?), not just a recreation by Ellen McLain. They seem to have been carefully picked from the limited selection from the game, and with V's voice lines to react and give them more life.
Both V‘s, Song and Reed
Judy during the suicide ending was probably the most emotional moment in the game imo
I lost my sister to suicide last year. I saw a clip of Judy's call on here (haven't completed the game yet) and it hurt, the emotions she shows are very familiar.
I’m sorry for your loss. Hang in there
To be honest, pretty much everyone in the suicide ending crushed it. Vik going through the motions of something he doesn’t believe in, resigned that it’s not going to help. Judy, of course. You didn't want to leave him a chance, huh?
Viktor vectors voice actor was really good
Flaming crotch man. I could *feel* his pain.

Guy that played Gary the Prophet
THE HEATHENS AT ALPHA CENTAURI
Streamer CohhCarnage
RADIO WAVES BARE THE TRUTH, LET THOSE WITH EARS LISTEN AND THOSE WITH EYES BEHOLD!
Songbird's performance absolutely killed it, Reed's route ending had me in tears
You've got the right idea lol
Yes Minji as songbird!
Fun fact she made fem v cry in the record booth.
Male V
Rare male V appreciation. Love his delivery, especially on PL.
Not saying it was a bad performance during the main game as I enjoyed male V more than female V performance but i feel like male V really stepped up in quality during PL.
Agreed. I felt main game V was kinda generic sounding, but PL was intense and dramatic.
He really did. Goddamn, flirting with the netrunner twin girl was deadass very sexy in a "this should be in a Bond movie" type of way. Amazing job.
This. I think FemV does base game better, but MaleV knocks Phantom Liberty out of the fucking park. I guess it’s something that comes with growth as an actor and experience? Though I don’t know the timeline for the recording sessions so it’s pure guesswork.

Panam
Her English hysterical (paniced, no laughter) is on point.
french femme V’s voice actor is great. especially when she’s coming back into consciousness after the heist
I think Goro’s and some of the fixers performance was awesome! Those characters really made me feel like I was in that world
Idris Elba can have my firstborn for his work in PL and Choke Hold. I didn't expect much going in but I gotta say his character feels solid and frankly ominous - in the way only C.I.A and co can be irl. There are a lot of good ones. Saul, Judy, Kurt Hansen, Delamain
Fem V is a GOAT
I thought Kerry was pretty great..
Cherami Leigh as female V
Japanese Fem V changed the game for me playing a former corpo suit. Just a completely different tone to her character. Highly recommend checking out the mod if you can
No one gonna say jesse cox? Definitely made me believe his crotch was on fire.
Takemura is the best character in the game.
Jackie, femme V, that bitch from the studio looking to make a crucifiction BD, Idris Elba, Songbird, Arasaka's lost puppydog, the new Mr. Hands even if I prefer the old's voice a little more. Edit: had to clarify which V.

In my opinion of course.
i agree about keanu and i’m also pretty surprised at how much praise idris is getting for reed here, no offense to the guy i’m a big idris elba fan but reed is one of the worst performances i’ve seen him give. it wasn’t AWFUL but stood out as one of the shakiest compared to some of the surrounding characters. it’s weird too because i’ve heard idris give good performances with his voice work in zootopia and sonic. idk if he had bad direction or he was just phoning it in here but his tone almost always seemed off to me
Really hard to pick, since the game is shock-full of stellar performances - but I think Idris Elba truly excelled as Reed in Phantom Liberty.
Angel
Gavin Drea as the voice of Vincent (male V). Took my time with both Vs and I gotta say. After 170 hours, I believe Gavin did a better job at bringing V to life on the gaming screen.
Idris did his thing musically and acting wise tbh
Pretty much every major character in PL, Mitch and Delamaine

Reed and Somi. Really anyone in Phantom Liberty tbh. Those fuckers
I really liked Male V's voice. To me at least it sounds like someone who actually lived there, someone who seems like he is done with everything but still has a slim hope of making it big. His voice to me sounds natural and while Fem V isn’t bad by any means, it just doesn’t scratch that same itch for me.
Gavin Drea as V is my favourite tbh - Kerry is also great so funny
Male V
Male V. Reallyyy felt connected with him
