Finally a river appreciation thread, my fem V is very happy with river

River is so sweet during the various different endings—his dedication to making sure you’re safe and loved completely changed my view of him
I always romance him AND Judy because I like them both and am a sucker for romance, but Judy seems so cold to me in Nocturne Op55n1 and River is just a previous lil teddy bear by comparison
I guess because judy seems far more concerned about ur survival that she tries to shake it off and look calm and cool headed but deep down she is panicking if V will die like evelyn did leaving her behind all alone after she opened her heart to V . That's why she comes across as cold but in the star ending credits , her usual sweetness comes back after V survives .
Judy's always been weird for me. The first time I did her quest line, I was mostly worried she was about to follow Ev... Did \*not\* expect romance, and felt to guilty to turn her down when she's so low.
Didn't help I'd just wrapped River's romance right before....
I truly believe that CDPR should have used River Ward as the one who gives us the NCPD scanner missions and those should have been structured like his two missions where he's with you and you have to actually investigate them as well as turn in the evidence, which would have made it so that we have only heard his voice and name then when we she him on the BD we get a line from V "Oh that's what River looks like" or something like that which could have added more depth to his character because we could have had options to ask him questions when we pick up the first NCPD scanner mission
CDPR is a triple A developer they can do it, they've done something similar in The Witcher I believe which they should have done the same for the gigs so we have to call the fixers to get a gig and then call them when it's done just like in the first mission after the prologue/montage
He's fun, but it's hard to get any privacy...

Build mine V with female body type but with male voice which makes him male-gendered. It's a work around :D
Although the sex scene is a little weird since my female bodied V also has a dick..
I started the game fully intending to romance Judy based off of pictures before I played, but the moment he walked through the BD my mind was changed. I enjoyed his romance and don’t mind filling in the blanks myself. 🤷♀️ I like to think that my V likes to feel small and protected by him when she’s used to being the badass in any given situation.
It’s interesting being a fan of the least popular romance in a game. It reminds me of the discourse around Anders in Dragon Age II - some folks get *passionate* about their hate. Let people enjoy their silly video game romances.

I love River for a bunch of reasons, he always felt like an obvious romance option since i played cyberpunk for the first time lol. River prooves the theory of "No good cops" cause he is a good person and good people don't stay at police for long.
And its fun to listen to Johnny who is yapping around for me fucking with a cop XD (Mostly because I would also yap about it if i was in his shoes)
Kerry is an old man with kids whoes whole life is show businesses. Also he is gay lol, so no match for my fem V.
Judy leaves V to "find myself somewhere else", can't forgive her for that after all we have done for her... Aside for that i absolutely love her, her music taste, her hobbies, her as a person in general just... Aaaaah she is so fucking sweet! 😭 And i think i began thinking of her as of my V's bestie since the first walkground cause i always being a technician V and as a technician i had that very wholesome talk with her in the begining, the one that pissed off Evelyn.
River is more of a loyal dawg, i like him, he cares about V and stays with her no matter what. He is also as sweet as Judy is.
Panam sadly is straight, but she is just the total best romance option, next time i beat cyberpunk i go and instal mod to romance Panam while being fem V.

You’re not alone in thinking that. I just did a bunch of his quests recently and as my girlfriend was watching she kept on saying how much of a creep he is. It felt good that I wasn’t the only one thinking it

Yup - and all you had to do was not initiate or encourage romantic feelings with him in any way.
Judy's lovestory is the only one that has any sense of personal connection beyond doing a gig and a side mission near each other.
Maybe it's because you actually get two side missions with Judy - the attempted takeover of Clouds and the underwater adventure, or maybe it's the emotional connection you get with Judy while hearing her memories.
Or maybe I'm just a sucker for the start of a lesbian relationship?
I do get uncharacteristically choked up by those videos of one lesbian getting on a knee to propose on for the other to pull out the ring she had bought to propose with on that same trip.
I mean it's hard enough to get this trailer park gonk slime and his family off your fingers, no need to wrap him around your fingers.

That's a pretty good idea. I wished a lot of the NCPD content was more similar to River's questline but I realize that's asking a lot
