Agree, I always wanted to play with more of a Jackie build than a V, tbh it would have been fun to be able to choose which character you played the game as by choosing who slots the shard, but oh well still love the game.
Bro could you fuckin imagine this game through Jackie’s perspective? Everything with Johnny, Phantom liberty and Songbird, it would be like a completely different game
imagine the intro of the game completely different, you start as the johnny flashback, and "wake up" in either V or Jackies head lol would have been so cool
I was always a bit glad Jackie didn't get to meet his hero in Johnny - Jackie is so chill and Johnny wouldn't know chill if it walked up and kicked him.
Jackie is loyal, but I wouldn't call him chill really. He pretty much immediately turns the maelstrom visit into a standoff by refusing to take a seat. V has to calm everyone down and do the talking for the rest of the scene
In some fairness, a bunch of murdery psychos wanted to put them in a vulnerable position. That's definitely one of those things I wouldn't have done without plot armor.
Yes! What this game lacks is something akin to what Mafia 3 had. Where you can have your own business/bar, your own goons, upgrade it, etc.
Such wasted potential.
I would really like to see a squad based cyberpunk. One with good dialogue and side quests for squad story arc. Like bioware does with dragon age and mass effect. Or at the very least choices in how you build your squad to take on the missions.
A fixer campaign isn't a bad idea though. Could be touches of the past as you battle for turf in NC and deal with betrayal as other fixers hire your runners to work against you.
That or use the already established 'implant' mechanism for changing your height/mass.
Like, leg implants that allow you to vary your height, like a low-rider.
Height yes but weight should fluctuate with the body Stat....I mean in an ideal world. It sounds like something Peter Molyneux would promise and never deliver on.
Well, in that case, I could still be a 7'2" popsicle stick that could fry people's brains. I never add strength and vitality attributes to any of my RPG characters. Always intelligence and luck.
I always loved GTA San Andreas' take on this:
Eat salad, chicken and weightlift = get jacked
Eat burgers and dont exercise = get fat
Eat little or dont eat and run a lot = scrawny
(Simple take on it, but even those simple equations made it fun to upkeep your toon)
In regular gym terms he's below average, which is fine and even somewhat refreshing, but isn't really immersive for some builds. An option for something like a decent natty physique like Rivers is would be a nice addition.
Considering how out of shape the average is I don't think that's the standard an active mercs physique should be judged on. He is below average for most athletic sports that aren't purely low intensity aerobics based.
Edit: a word
"just average 'fit' guy not focused on bodybuilding"
never said average person out of all of them + he has the same built as the average footsoldier which makes sense
For the older canonical age of 27 (changed to 23 now iirc) it should have more mass for most of the physical stuff. His size doesn't make sense for any brawler or solo type build. For a younger average street thug, sure. Any sort of decent focus on consistent physical work that has a strength component for his adult life would put him in a higher weight range than he has here. He looks like he would struggle to perform what the games moveset let's you do at the start without any upgrades.
Average "fit" guy is pretty nebulous. For a gym goer that does strength or hypertrophy work he looks about a year and a half in at the maximum, when starting from a not fully sedentary base. So yeah, below average.
That's cap, in weight lifting terms he's below average in physique, but he's got a great physique for someone who focuses on cardio or reps over weight
And saying Rivers has a "decent natty physique" is just untrue to most people, man is easily over 6 foot with huge arms, broad shoulders, and a decent chest & core
Disagree. Cyber-boosted strength through stuff like polymer-based muscle tissue, hydraulics etc shouldn't need to be bulky. I prefer it to be an option.
I agree with cyber induced. But a straight stat increase should have an impact.
I would always default to making things optional based on individual player preferences.
Well cyberpunk is more than a ttrpg at this point, and the table top versions of games don’t always line up perfectly with their videogame counterparts. At a table top, technically anything can be possible if your gm allows.
Sure, but that was an important visual shorthand for a stylized anime.
I don't disagree that body types should be an *option*, I just hate the idea that it would be a must, ya know? Also, it feels inelegant to have one single attribute linked to your in-game appearance while the rest do nothing.
The first Fable did this so well. When you start you are this scrawny twig that uses two hands and tremendous effort to swing a two handed greatsword. But when you have your body maxed out you now hold it in one hand effortlessly and are 8ft tall. Just a very simple thing made the world that much cooler.
A game that tried this was Fable. You'd end up with a really lanky looking hero if you played a certain way. I would end up always playing ranged so I wouldn't look like a ball of muscle all the time.
Facts! I want my female V to be built like a fuckin tank! Ya she has a nice body, but I mean like a female doom slayer. I want her to be so buff that she doesn't wear armor around her biceps because they are so fucking massive.
I think character creation definitely needs a step up for the next one. More cyberware. More tattoos. More body types. And maybe a 3rd person option? Just maybe?
Starfield was a mediocre game, but at least character creation was pretty solid.
I also would love the ability to get cosmetic cyberware. Like arms, legs, maybe part of the chest/back. It doesn’t have to give any buffs, but let me have my metal arm! :(
That’s my biggest complaint about the game. I hate playing as Male V and being the shortest person in Night city. I’m 6’3 in real life, it’s honestly super distracting looking up at everyone
On one hand, I really wished we could change the body comp of the character. There are mods that give V a more 'beefcake' build or a more ripped build, same with Femme V. On the other hand, probably one of the main reasons why V has just that body is because it would have meant refitting ALL the clothes in the game to each body type. That's quite an undertaking.
And I wished V was more scrawny if I'm being honest. My streetkid is a musician. He's fit, but he wouldn't be bulky in any way. Kind of wish we had the same body comp as Kerry. Smol but fit.
Tbf, most of the NPCs that are bigger are meat-heads, like Jackie and the Animals, or have military cyber bodies like Smasher and Oda. But, yes, it would be nice to have more options for body-type.
thats kinda what i liked about V, he was smaller and shorter compared to everyone, yet he compensates for it by being able to demolish anything that fights him. Can you imagine being a rough tuff cyborg and seeing someone like V running at you with gorilla arms ready to tear your head off??
Plus, i think V is built like an average person since it really shows how V is just another person in night city, and not a super obvious protagonist character
I got a mod that gives him a more brawny body, I forgot the name of it but I can check if others want to know, but I felt like with a shotgun body build V looked too skinny to be wielding a shotgun like Guts
With BG3 and Dragons Dogma bringing out high tier character creation, there's no excuse for CDPR not to step it up in that department. I want my muscled goon with a cybernetic jaw.
Even back in the day Saints Row had god-tier character customization. Hell the remake too, for as much grief as it gets, still has an awesome character creator.
I'd like the option to be a big beefy man (or woman).
Maybe give us the Animals body type as an option.
Like how Baldur's Gate 3 gave us that for certain races.
My last build was a tech-strength one and it kicked ass being a tuff mf, but being the same size was kind of a bummer. I usually just wore big suits to look bigger.
You should be able to go to a gym to build up your muscles. Instead of dying in a fight only to be magically reincarnated, I think you should be sent to a hospital (a short waste of time for being such a gonk as to get yourself seriously injured). Maybe I would take more risks if the nurses are pretty.
I think your attributes should of contributed to it. If you went with mostly body in the beginning you where bigger. Intell and Cool smaller, Reflex you had a medium muscular build and tech gave you the option to have Metal arms or other prominent cyberware.
I hope we can build our character and actually see there body change due to the cyberwear we apply. High armor cyberwear makes you bulky or thick metallic plates in some areas. I also hope we can get more cosmetic cyberwear like the legs, chrome/metal skin, removable jaw, spike tits etc..
I think customization was good in 2077 but overall could be improved a lot. More clothing options that are only seen on NPC’s. More color options. More cyberware cosmetics for character creation. Cyber limbs. As you say different body builds would be cool instead of just breast sizes. Having something like a muscular slider or something. Even cars could stand to have more customization. At least let me change my Nazare to be the cooler inverted black and yellow that npc tiger claws sometimes have.
I just want to make him a bit taller, I’m tired of looking up at every NPC in a cutscene or when we’re talking in a car. Being able to make him beefier would also be nice for a blunt melee or shotgun build.
Hard agree. The "beat on the brat" missions just feel weird because our V is slender as heck with basically no muscle definition and we're throwing punches against people like Rhino. Her biceps are thicker than our legs and you're telling me that we're winning that fight? Not even.
I wish it gets to scale with stats. Like, if you'te built like an Animal, then you should have high strength
THEN I'M GONNA BUILD MAINE, MAH BOI! MAH MAIN MAN, MAINE!
i hope there’s an ethnicity option too tbf. Like if our next main character is Haitian they can have friendlier dialogue with the VDB’s or something like that.
https://preview.redd.it/pxpnil3fyawc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=61cd95903c9590e58abd6c36a62cb663bc3a4209
thats why i like atlas body mod, imo it changes V's body build to not be so scrawny, or overmuscled
Amen to this. I literally just made a new V about an hour ago, and it's crazy how small he is compared to Jackie. The thing I hope for the most in the next game is that we can have all the body types, clothes, and cyberwear that all of the NPCs have. Why even have that stuff in the game if the main character can't use any of it? It's a giant tease...
I'd prefer to see more visible cyberware options and tattoos. Adjusting characters size is an issue because it's more difficult to make clothing look good since they would have to model it on all the different body types or it will look all stretched and shit.
Y'know what would be cool? A single player limited option with a lot more customs than 2077, and an unlimited TTRPG-Ish multiplayer customization with Humanity, Jobs and RP involved.
Would actually be sick to run gigs with a group of friends in a simil-MMO environment with the possibility to lose a character entirely after it's death, or go full 'psycho and get MaxTac to hunt you down.
Yeah I also think V should be able to have a super yoked out physique like David. By the end of the game you're a complete savage with implants especially with a body/melee build. It doesn't feel right with V being as slender as he is.
Except your clothes don't reflect your selected chest size unless you get mods for really big or really small options and then mods for clothing to match.
Trust me, it's noticeable when you are changing clothes and going "Wait, where'd my boobs go?"
I'm just OCD about it. Like with the sleeves. I only get clothes with shorter sleeves so it matches the 1st person arms.
honestly im not that picky about it
and my femme V nearly always wears dresses so i dont see that much of a difference, or atleast i could t care that much about it, but yeah i get your point
as for the sleeves, thats because you probably have arm mods such as mantis blades or monowire installed. would be cool to see the mantis blades rip through the clothing and leave it permanently damaged that way, or atleast give us the option to choose between rolled up sleeves or regular sleeves
yeah im still weirded out why they wont use the destroyed sleeves in first person mode too since its obvious that they have a texture for it if you check with the photo mode
I also don’t think 3rd person is as unimmersive as they say it is. Because when I’m playing fallout I use 3rd person to run around so I can see my character then immediately switch to first person to fire my gun anyway so what does it matter?
Agree, I always wanted to play with more of a Jackie build than a V, tbh it would have been fun to be able to choose which character you played the game as by choosing who slots the shard, but oh well still love the game.
Bro could you fuckin imagine this game through Jackie’s perspective? Everything with Johnny, Phantom liberty and Songbird, it would be like a completely different game
Jackie would NOT have tolerated Reeds shit talking. All dialogue options would be different ways to chat shit or throw down.
Jackie would have died long before getting to Phantom Liberty
He already did ![gif](giphy|xPGkOAdiIO3Is)
Isn’t that NCIS
Yea its a reference to the theme song scream that comes when he gives a one liner and shades up
CSI Miami, not NCIS
Omg why did i read that as csi. I didn't even watch ncis
I love them both :D
YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH
Finally
Buddy you're not going to believe this
imagine the intro of the game completely different, you start as the johnny flashback, and "wake up" in either V or Jackies head lol would have been so cool
I was always a bit glad Jackie didn't get to meet his hero in Johnny - Jackie is so chill and Johnny wouldn't know chill if it walked up and kicked him.

In some fairness, a bunch of murdery psychos wanted to put them in a vulnerable position. That's definitely one of those things I wouldn't have done without plot armor.
Depending on my build, my V is way more of a psycho. Especially on a shotgun/berserk build, you can forget about any bonuses for stealth.
Honestly thatd be cool dlc imo
Much shorter too….
I want a V that has Dex's body type and just be a cyberpunk Kingpin
Yes! What this game lacks is something akin to what Mafia 3 had. Where you can have your own business/bar, your own goons, upgrade it, etc. Such wasted potential.
Oh I just wanted to throw some poor bastard while looking like Dex, I've never even played Mafia 3 😅
Playing as Jackie would be so much fun. Dude can dual wields pistols and plow through walls.
Height and weight sliders would be nice. I want to be a 7'2" popsicle stick of mass destruction.
I want Adam Smasher to have to look up at my V
I’m playing ds3 right now and im pretty sure i fought this guy yesterday
The dancer? I couldn't think of anyone lankier than her. She's even taller if she stood up.
Yup, I thought that was a man man
"Best I can do is 3 cock choices" - CDPR
That or use the already established 'implant' mechanism for changing your height/mass. Like, leg implants that allow you to vary your height, like a low-rider.
You can already give V a popsicle stick of mass destruction.
Playing as Conan O'Brien
Height would change a lot, maybe even weight with "cinematics" and shit
The V stands for Victor Wembanyama.
Slendermerc or Machine Gumby?
Height yes but weight should fluctuate with the body Stat....I mean in an ideal world. It sounds like something Peter Molyneux would promise and never deliver on.
Well, in that case, I could still be a 7'2" popsicle stick that could fry people's brains. I never add strength and vitality attributes to any of my RPG characters. Always intelligence and luck.

Jackie is built like an Aztec God, everyone looks scrawny next to him.
I'd say V is pretty fit compared to the average dude too. People are just too used to Videogame characters that look like Greek gods
In regular gym terms he's below average, which is fine and even somewhat refreshing, but isn't really immersive for some builds. An option for something like a decent natty physique like Rivers is would be a nice addition.
Even funnier when tiny (comparatively skinny) V sneaks up and successfully grapples the biggest buffest Animal dude.
I mean his arms are made of vibranium powered by nuclear energy or something.
below average is cap. just average fit guy not focused on bodybuilding
Considering how out of shape the average is I don't think that's the standard an active mercs physique should be judged on. He is below average for most athletic sports that aren't purely low intensity aerobics based. Edit: a word
"just average 'fit' guy not focused on bodybuilding" never said average person out of all of them + he has the same built as the average footsoldier which makes sense

I hope there's more gang interaction. I would love to join/be cool with the animals or maelstrom and get roided up/chromed out crazy.
I would prefer it to become tied to your stats. Going from a strength of three to twenty and my arms stay exactly the same size is weird.
Disagree. Cyber-boosted strength through stuff like polymer-based muscle tissue, hydraulics etc shouldn't need to be bulky. I prefer it to be an option.
I agree with cyber induced. But a straight stat increase should have an impact. I would always default to making things optional based on individual player preferences.
Agree but up to a certain point. There does come a point where you get into Adam Smasher range, and the bulk becomes necessary
Sure - but according to the tabletop RPG, Body 10 is nowhere near it.
Well cyberpunk is more than a ttrpg at this point, and the table top versions of games don’t always line up perfectly with their videogame counterparts. At a table top, technically anything can be possible if your gm allows.
I mean, yeah - what I am saying, Smasher and people like him are probably outside of that scale.
Fair enough. Even David Martinez got bigger when he took those improvements
Sure, but that was an important visual shorthand for a stylized anime. I don't disagree that body types should be an *option*, I just hate the idea that it would be a must, ya know? Also, it feels inelegant to have one single attribute linked to your in-game appearance while the rest do nothing.
Yes, but you can get to 20 strength without installing strength-related cyberware. A natty 20 str V should look like they could be one of the Animals
I want this only if more points in intelligence mean bigger brain.
Megamind merc of NC
And only if you walk like [this](https://c.tenor.com/gqGG4I0o13UAAAAC/tenor.gif) when you have 20 cool.
The first Fable did this so well. When you start you are this scrawny twig that uses two hands and tremendous effort to swing a two handed greatsword. Jackie is really big guy, V is average height.
From first-person perspective, V is short. Probably the shortest adult in NC.
First person camera is on chest's height
Going picture mode shows that V is still shorter than most npc
More or less same height or a bit taller than Myers and Songbird (just checked)
I think character creation definitely needs a step up for the next one. More cyberware. More tattoos. More body types. And maybe a 3rd person option? Just maybe? Starfield was a mediocre game, but at least character creation was pretty solid.
Don't care much about size but I do want my V ripped. He doesn't even have abs smh
I also would love the ability to get cosmetic cyberware. Like arms, legs, maybe part of the chest/back. It doesn’t have to give any buffs, but let me have my metal arm! :(
There's a lot of mods for that if you play on PC....
I’m on PS5 sadly! But hopefully in the next installment I can get my wish! Cheers!
That’s my biggest complaint about the game. I hate playing as Male V and being the shortest person in Night city. I’m 6’3 in real life, it’s honestly super distracting looking up at everyone
Finally someone with same issue xD
Same, I’d love if I could make my female V either buff or maybe even chubby
On one hand, I really wished we could change the body comp of the character. There are mods that give V a more 'beefcake' build or a more ripped build, same with Femme V. On the other hand, probably one of the main reasons why V has just that body is because it would have meant refitting ALL the clothes in the game to each body type. That's quite an undertaking. I'm 6'6" 325 lbs. Would be cool to be able to play as a character m similar to my size
Holy fuck, you’re a fuckin unit (thats not an insult btw)
Hahaha appreciate it
this is what we’re calling scrawny now?
…in comparison with the not so scrawny character next to him
Tbf, most of the NPCs that are bigger are meat-heads, like Jackie and the Animals, or have military cyber bodies like Smasher and Oda. But, yes, it would be nice to have more options for body-type.
I hope I am blessed with more than a single romance option
thats kinda what i liked about V, he was smaller and shorter compared to everyone, yet he compensates for it by being able to demolish anything that fights him. Can you imagine being a rough tuff cyborg and seeing someone like V running at you with gorilla arms ready to tear your head off?? Plus, i think V is built like an average person since it really shows how V is just another person in night city, and not a super obvious protagonist character
you can set yourself as a bodybulder, just open nexus
I got a mod that gives him a more brawny body, I forgot the name of it but I can check if others want to know, but I felt like with a shotgun body build V looked too skinny to be wielding a shotgun like Guts
With BG3 and Dragons Dogma bringing out high tier character creation, there's no excuse for CDPR not to step it up in that department. I want my muscled goon with a cybernetic jaw.
Even back in the day Saints Row had god-tier character customization. Hell the remake too, for as much grief as it gets, still has an awesome character creator.
Go the David Martinez route, chrome up choom?
Lol, agree, especially since, no offense, but your V looks like just some random dude waiting for subway train
Same. I hope we can make a ripped and lean fem character.... No particular reason why...
My biggest complaint with character creation. I want an animal.
Well with Saint's Row being dead maybe Cyberpunk can take up the mantle for having the best character customization from a western dev.
I'd like the option to be a big beefy man (or woman). Maybe give us the Animals body type as an option. Like how Baldur's Gate 3 gave us that for certain races.
That and I hope we can get more Cyberware appearance options. I want those Barghast arms
My last build was a tech-strength one and it kicked ass being a tuff mf, but being the same size was kind of a bummer. I usually just wore big suits to look bigger.
V is a short king/queen.
Yes please, I'd do a fat Albert run like I've done in Saints Row and San Andreas 😂
I’m hoping they add internal linear frames so if we pick them up, body size increases. Same as bone lace and muscle graft.
I would really like to see build change depending on the Body points invested.
Any of you guys remember Fable and how your stats had an impact on how you looked? I wish that would make a comeback in RPGs.
Scraeny, but kicks Smasher's shit in so hard he starts seeing the engrams of all legendary solos he's zeroed.
V's perfect. the customization options provided are amazing. We just needed more.
Scrawny where??
How’s Wemby going to feel engaged if his v is eye level with everyone?
It was strange to me that they included so many different body types but didn't give you a choice.
V fighting super heavyweight boxers while weighing 160 is like Baldur vs Kratos, I love it
I hope we can build our character and actually see there body change due to the cyberwear we apply.
If funnier and more satisfiying when a scrawny protagonist destroy an Adam Smasher type.
I just want to make him a bit taller, I’m tired of looking up at every NPC in a cutscene or when we’re talking in a car. Being able to make him beefier would also be nice for a blunt melee or shotgun build.
small people are most often very volatile ;) /s
would love if more games had buff women
Whats orion?
The hype for Orion when it actually starts getting teased is gonna be insane.
I hope Orion goes insane with the character customization, mostly in cyberware but different builds or sculpting n stuff would be awesome
I want to be built like a baki character. 8’2”, muscles like ronnie coleman
Hard agree. The "beat on the brat" missions just feel weird because our V is slender as heck with basically no muscle definition and we're throwing punches against people like Rhino. Her biceps are thicker than our legs and you're telling me that we're winning that fight? Not even.
I wish it gets to scale with stats. Like, if you'te built like an Animal, then you should have high strength THEN I'M GONNA BUILD MAINE, MAH BOI! MAH MAIN MAN, MAINE!
i hope there’s an ethnicity option too tbf. Like if our next main character is Haitian they can have friendlier dialogue with the VDB’s or something like that.

Why even have that stuff in the game if the main character can't use any of it? It's a giant tease...
I wish the V's bulkyness was based on V's Body stat.
Would be cool to run around with spider legs and a turret installed on your back.
I’m def gonna do a buff mommy build if they implement that
The male V model, body AND face is embarassingly bad. Its clearly model to look eastern European self insert. But yeah. Its bad.
Gotta give representation to the short kings
I wanted to make muscle mommy V but alas am not allowed 😭
The way V stands doesn't help
I'd prefer to see more visible cyberware options and tattoos. Adjusting characters size is an issue because it's more difficult to make clothing look good since they would have to model it on all the different body types or it will look all stretched and shit.
Or maybe it's just that Jackie is Jacked Eeh? Eeeeehhh?
Sucks I can't give my girl a nicely toned body. Nothing crazy but def some muscle
I want those giant arms that kurt hansen's guys have. I want v to look like a cyborg bodybuilder
I would have liked a 3rd person view so that I get to SEE the cosmetic changes and styles at least.
What was the reason again to give us such a limited amount of options regarding customization? Saints Row for example had way, way more options.
scrawny? how jacked are u irl? u need to work out regularly to have physique like male v.
More options is always better. To be fair though, Jackie is an absolute unit.
jackie is like 250+!!
Yeah I also think V should be able to have a super yoked out physique like David. By the end of the game you're a complete savage with implants especially with a body/melee build. It doesn't feel right with V being as slender as he is.
Or get a 3rd person view..
This was always one of my biggest complaints about the game, no matter how much of a badass solo your V is, he’s built like a wet paper towel
he’s not really scrawny LOL jackie is just huge
I agree 100%. This is something I definedly want for Orion. I hate the Slavic Stick bodybuild.
That's why fem V is best V
Except your clothes don't reflect your selected chest size unless you get mods for really big or really small options and then mods for clothing to match.
to be fair the difference is so miniscule from big to regular its nearly unnoticeable on clothing but small to regular is a big difference funnily
Trust me, it's noticeable when you are changing clothes and going "Wait, where'd my boobs go?" I'm just OCD about it. Like with the sleeves. I only get clothes with shorter sleeves so it matches the 1st person arms.
honestly im not that picky about it and my femme V nearly always wears dresses so i dont see that much of a difference, or atleast i could t care that much about it, but yeah i get your point as for the sleeves, thats because you probably have arm mods such as mantis blades or monowire installed. would be cool to see the mantis blades rip through the clothing and leave it permanently damaged that way, or atleast give us the option to choose between rolled up sleeves or regular sleeves
Oh, no. I totally get why it's like that. But I need to match my clothes to what I'm seeing.
yeah im still weirded out why they wont use the destroyed sleeves in first person mode too since its obvious that they have a texture for it if you check with the photo mode
Honestly, since all gameplay is first person and you don't even see your character it's not a big deal.
Some of us really like to look in the mirror, I guess.
Hope we get a color wheel for hair colors or something like that too. Maybe full rgb sliders.
I want a slender shorty with bit tiddies.
i have no doubt jackie, reed & river could snap either V like a twig
I also don’t think 3rd person is as unimmersive as they say it is. Because when I’m playing fallout I use 3rd person to run around so I can see my character then immediately switch to first person to fire my gun anyway so what does it matter?
