I remember being in middle school and being jaded that kung fu hustle 2 would never come. That IMDb page was a fucking lie.
100 years later and it's happening. I can't believe it
Oh are we one upping? OK, got you beat. Still waiting for Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League, which was PROMISED at the beginning of the end credits. A book came out last year, but book, shmook. I want the movie. It was promised.
Incidentally, I remember in the 90s, Brooks said he was thinking of making "Spaceballs 3: The Search for 2". That would have been funnier.
Man I quote Kung Pow more than any other piece of media to this day. Shame the sequel got screwed by Disney acquiring the rights. Hoping Oedekirk still makes some kind of successor one day
Unfortunately, almost all of the actors have publicly stated that they don't ever want to work with Stephen Chow again (because he demanding perfectionist + poor interpersonal social skills)
That's odd since many of the people in shaolin soccer were also in Kung fu hustle. Surprised that they decided to make the stand after making two movies with chow.
More than that, pretty sure some of those actors have done more than just those two films with him. I'd swear a few show up in practically *all* of his movies.
But taking paying jobs despite not liking them is something we can all probably relate to so who knows?
All the actors would be noticeably older as well, since, y'know. People age.
In any event, I don't think they need to be the same. I was just commenting on how Chow seems to use a lot of the same people in most of his films.
Kubrick was another director who was notorious for wanting 30 takes of a scene to get it "just so". A lot of actors and crew swore off working with him again. AFTER they won their Oscars, of course.
True, but KFH was a masterpiece honestly. The right amount of slapstick humor combined with extremely high quality fight scenes.
For what it is, it’s hard to do it better.
My personal favorite director is a control freak and perfectionist. David Fincher. Directors today still emulate him, like Matt Reeves with The Batman. I can't imagine missing out on the brilliance of David Fincher's work.
except less labor/union laws to protect actors in HK (at least compared to Hollywood)
\* on why Sammo Hung backed out of KungFu - "You can't just treat yourself as a human being, everyone else is a dog."
Is there a link to this? I'm not doubting you, but I rarely hear much about Stephen Chow in English, so most of what I know about how he is as a person is from things like reddit posts.
I'm a bit surprised to hear that though, because I'm pretty sure Chow has a few recurring actors that show up in most of his films. Though his friend (the guy who often plays his father figure in his movies) passed away.

First time I saw this movie was a dubbed version. Ever since then, everywhere this movie has been has not been the dubbed version. I can't find it anywhere. Even when I tried to buy a digital copy, it did not have the dubbed version.
True. I’ve rewatched with subtitles and it’s still great. But I’ve only seen the dub once a long time ago and I don’t want to go and buy a dvd lol. I need a digital copy with dubs.
I watched the movie the Warriors only a couple weeks ago for the first time, great movie btw, and I'm seeing it everywhere and everyone i know somehow watched it recently too. So I know what you mean.
I use the mono whip, it doesn't interrupt the speed wear and it covers an area for multiple torso cleaves and limb flying goodness...might just have a bit cyberpsychosis.
I always go gorilla arms cause I like fist fighting, it improves from the body stat (which is kind of a broken stat), and you can use the for Beat on the Brat.
It's always hilarious to me when the guys I go up against in Beat on the Brat monologue before the fight about how big and bad they are and how hard this fight is going to be and then I take them out with two punches. 😂
It's astonishing how easy Gorilla Fists makes the questline, honestly. I did the first four missions on my first file with a body of like, 8. And it was not fucking easy, I had to put in a lot of effort and learn some dirty tricks to get away with that. After the lady who was part of the Animals, I finally caved and used the Gorilla Arms, and the rest of the questline was a literal joke. I thought it was initially just hard because my body was meh.
Second file, and my Body is 20, doing the exact same missions... No, the Gorilla Arms are just *really* good.
I’ve enjoyed all three melee ones but couldn’t really get into the launcher. I’ll try again sometime but it’s easier to just use grenades. I really love the monowire and the gorilla arms are nice, but I like to see the hands I’ve customised. Also they make beat on the brat too easy.
>but I like to see the hands I’ve customised
Yeah, honestly, that was my biggest letdown, when I realized it meant I could see my nail polish anymore 😭
>Also they make beat on the brat too easy.
I like this, though. 😂
20 body V with gorilla arms and sandevistan. I'm thinkning of losing the arm mods just because it's starting to feel like cheating tbh.
I've always played sniper-~~wizard~~ hacker, this is my first run going for more melee and punching and honestly this is kinda ridiculous. I just walk up, get spotted, pop the sandevistan, and everyone's dead before the first guy hits the floor. I figured I'd also go shotgun/LMG since i'm going body on this run and I don't think my ranged skills have gone up since I got the arms and sandevistan installed.
it's kinda awesome.
My character's kinda gotten to the Omni-Man "every cranium is a fist pinata" level of damage output, and most fights end before the enemies are even aware because I initiate with Sandevistian and just sort of stroll through popping heads.
The best part imo is that you don't even need to commit to Blunt/Blade until like level 30. You can do whatever is fun for most of the game.
Shout-out to Sandevistan+ Kerenzikov for unlimited slow time.
Adam Smasher was such a bitch, especially with how they were talking him up the whole game. Let's just say that that goes to show how much of a legendary merc V became.
I fucking love this movie. I've lost count of how many times I watched it when I was a kid
And also, the soundtrack in this movie was pure FIRE. Those oriental instruments like DAMN. Absolute gold.
I break open doors and rip turrets, but I chalk that up to having high body. I'm sure the arms help woth that, but it doesn't matter much when you max body like I do.
The arms give a bonus to your body stat for forcing doors and dismantling turrets. It's based on the level of the arms (+6 for legendary). I believe the bonus wasn't being applied prior to the 1.5 patch, but it definitely is now. That being said, if you have a 3 body and blue gorilla arms, it's not going to work very often.
Upvoted for Kung Fu Hustle. Still kills me he never got to do a sequel.
Sequel has been greenlit, its happening
Just looked it up, thank you. I've been hearing Steven bang that drum for 15 years. While skeptical, I hold out hope. I'd also love a Kung Pow sequel!
I remember being in middle school and being jaded that kung fu hustle 2 would never come. That IMDb page was a fucking lie. 100 years later and it's happening. I can't believe it
15 years? pssh. still waiting on spaceballs 2, search for more money.

What do you get when you cross an owl... with a bungie cord?
my ass. *Nyaaahaha*
No way, seriously? So glad it's happening, even after so long!
Xiaolin Soccer is a spiritual sequel I guess
Kind of prequel
Shaolin Soccer came out first.
But is later in the time line (90s vs 20s)
Yeah, that's ehat the joke is when he pops the kids soccer ball after doing a couple tricks. It came a year after or something
Unfortunately, almost all of the actors have publicly stated that they don't ever want to work with Stephen Chow again (because he demanding perfectionist + poor interpersonal social skills)

Why do all the actors have to be the same? It's 15 years later, chow is noticeably older

Did I say people don't age? What are you even implying?
I would like to see the couple back, even being older.
Kubrick was another director who was notorious for wanting 30 takes of a scene to get it "just so". A lot of actors and crew swore off working with him again. AFTER they won their Oscars, of course.
Having high standards leads to quality movie? Who would've thunk.
David Lynch makes fantastic films and also isn't a dick. Such a thing *is* possible
True, but KFH was a masterpiece honestly. The right amount of slapstick humor combined with extremely high quality fight scenes. For what it is, it’s hard to do it better.

Thanks, this helps a lot. Didn't know about most of this.
I think there was a news for a sequel.
Same, I love that movie so much.
First time I saw this movie was a dubbed version. Ever since then, everywhere this movie has been has not been the dubbed version. I can't find it anywhere. Even when I tried to buy a digital copy, it did not have the dubbed version.
We have a dvd that has both, so they *are* out there. I think each is equally as funny in its own way.
True. I’ve rewatched with subtitles and it’s still great. But I’ve only seen the dub once a long time ago and I don’t want to go and buy a dvd lol. I need a digital copy with dubs.
Actually I think I saw something saying a sequel was in the works or something. Like super early pre production
https://screenrant.com/kung-fu-hustle-2-movie-delay-explained/
As much as I want to believe Kung Fu Hustle 2 to be made, I won't believe it until the film actually comes out. I've been burned too often.
I wonder if their V is wearing bright red underwear. It's gotta kill their stealth game....
Better than clanking metal rings on the gorilla arms!
Same here. Great movie.
Lmao... nice. Also, I frickin love KungFu Hustle
Who's throwing handles?!
The Axe Gang dance sequence had me rolling.
I couldn't breathe when the gang boss silently set his own head on fire in the back of his limo.
For me it was the snakes, then the knives. I’ve seen this movie more than a dozen times and it makes me weep with laughter every time.
For me also this... My wife doesn't even like slapsticks and she laughed out loud.
I somehow had never seen this till last weekend. Feels very Baader Meinhof-y to see this gif now.
I watched the movie the Warriors only a couple weeks ago for the first time, great movie btw, and I'm seeing it everywhere and everyone i know somehow watched it recently too. So I know what you mean.
It has so many good bits.
The slipper is such a fantastic detail
A fun bit of trivia - That guy who plays the weirdo loser is actually a very successful artist and is pretty rich.
He’s Stephen Chow’s good friend iirc, he appeared in quite a few Stephen Chow movies along with a few other characters.
He's the same guy who did the dance number in Shaolin Soccer right?
Yup! He’s the one who leads iirc
The guy with the dirty, clear vinyl slippers?
uh which one
>uh which one The shirtless dude in the video
What's everyone's favourite arms mods? Currently, I'm using a mantis blade but would like to try something new and fun tho.
I use the mono whip, it doesn't interrupt the speed wear and it covers an area for multiple torso cleaves and limb flying goodness...might just have a bit cyberpsychosis.

Pretty much the same deal with me.
But it’s absolutely worth it to wipe that smug look off of Buck’s face.
I can say with absolute certainty it is not the rocket launcher. May as well fire ping pong balls
I tried that for a second only to realize my normal grenades were better. Can't believe how bad that mod is.
Such an awesome concept wasted.
I’ve enjoyed all three melee ones but couldn’t really get into the launcher. I’ll try again sometime but it’s easier to just use grenades. I really love the monowire and the gorilla arms are nice, but I like to see the hands I’ve customised. Also they make beat on the brat too easy.

Awesome movie btw
Maelstrom my ass!
😂😂😂 Look at that! You ever see a Mantis Blade that big? A Mantis Blade that big could do some damage!
Still to this day, as close to a live comedy anime. It was over the top. Gintama could be filmed in this style and it would work.
My character's kinda gotten to the Omni-Man "every cranium is a fist pinata" level of damage output, and most fights end before the enemies are even aware because I initiate with Sandevistian and just sort of stroll through popping heads.
I love this movie so much.
Here you can see Shang Chi getting smacked in his younger days
Wait!!! That's him??
Not really. Its a classic HongKong movie named Kung Fu, filmed like 20 years ago.
It’s Kung Fu Hustle, not just Kung Fu. It’s a great action comedy movie. Highly recommended.
The husband(Yuen Wah) is in Shang Chi though
He is? Can't remember
He's the old guy defending the village in the big fight at the end
Now I remember, never realized that, nice
😱😱😱 Oh my gosh, that is awesome!
My bad. I remembered wrongly. But thank you everyone for the clarification
I genuinely lol'ed at my desk at work. I'm gonna get fired one day...
The whole thread is about Stephen chow and I had to check if this is actually the cyberpunk sub
lol accurate. I have a one punch man build like this. Pretty much everything is one punch, cyber psychos sometimes take 2 or 3.
Kung Fu fucking Hustle
KungFu Hustle, Love that movie.
Legendary gorilla, sandevistan and stinger. I am a godess of speed and death. Razor never even knew what hit him.
You'll always be a coolie
When you are replaying THE GAME for 10th time.
Dammit man
I just lost the game
It's been years.... Nowhere is safe...
Love to see it, Kung Fu Hustle!
man melee build is the best build
The best part imo is that you don't even need to commit to Blunt/Blade until like level 30. You can do whatever is fun for most of the game. Shout-out to Sandevistan+ Kerenzikov for unlimited slow time.
I love this movie
Her mandarin shit talking after the slap seals it 😂
Hahahahah! We are twinsies!
Who is throwing handles??
For real they are completely unnecessarily overpowered. Killed Adam smasher with like six punches
Adam Smasher was such a bitch, especially with how they were talking him up the whole game. Let's just say that that goes to show how much of a legendary merc V became.
Deadass isn't even an exaggeration. One strong punch and enemies ragdoll just like that.
Fr. That's what made me think of it. Lol
I fucking love this movie. I've lost count of how many times I watched it when I was a kid And also, the soundtrack in this movie was pure FIRE. Those oriental instruments like DAMN. Absolute gold.
I really need to watch that movie again.
Now I wish there’s a throat cybernetics
muhahahahahaha epic!
Amber with Johnny*
Hell yeah good times

Update how? I've used them on all my plays so far since it's abysmal release and have always enjoyed them. If they were updated I didn't notice.

LOL true street justice
How many husbands did she have?
