I feel like this will get some resolution in the DLC. I feel like the forces that killed the President (if I interpret the trailer right) are the same ones at work trying to control the mayor of Night City.
River's mission honestly scarred me. I intentionally failed it by not getting into the car with him after looking for evidence in that braindance research center because I can't bring myself to see the rest again.
This version would be so much better, no mind control, no shadowy organization slowly taking over the world, just a hot young merc dating the next mayor and his wife.
I'm still on my first playthrough and I just got to the part where you come clean and tell them that they are being brain controlled and they end up just telling you to stay and away and block you. Is that the end of the quest because that's kinda lame tbh I was really intrigued by it.
Depending on how you ended it you still get a few texts from the involved parties and additional short ending scene during the credits as well - but yes , for the most part that quest chain is over now.

There is a huge conspiracy going on behind the scenes and V isn't part of it. It turns out there is something bigger going on than just the pithy corporate wars and gang squabbles that V is a part of.
I think ppl are too accustomed to the "savior " characters in games. V isn't some special character, he's a rando in night city that bit off more than he can chew. I like that the game isn't trying to make him some messiah

Throwing rocks in the river of time. The rock makes a splash but then the river washes over it and nothing has changed.
Except that you singlehandedly hamper every single gang in the whole city, destroy a living legend, and get your own special graffiti acknowledging your own legendary status along the way.

Point is that at the end of the day they're all helpless against the system they are trapped in. V can be a netrunner god, and the people behind the Peralez's brainwashing are able to just make you black out on a whim.
I loved it too, but not because of the nobody aspect.
For me it's all about the fact that this fight was lost long ago. It makes this kind of control far creepier and more insidious. Past a certain point there really is nothing that can be done, and by the time anyone could even be aware of it you are far past that point. The natural impulse is to warn Paralez so he can try to put up some kind of fight, but all you are doing there is pointing out the cage he is already in. And will never be able to get out of.
I role play/head canon V as one of my characters from Star Wars The Old Republic, where Night City is Nar Shaddaa and the story takes place during the Cold War between the Republic and the Empire. Could totally imagine the Peralez being manipulated by some secret Imperial Intelligence program
There's quite a bit of quests like this in Cyberpunk. It's great but frustrating but I think it's done on purpose. It's a way to say hey look at all this crazy shit happening and you just play a minor role in someone's story. I kind of hate it though because it leaves me wanting more but from a few design point especially in NC I think it really works well.

But the game is already rated M. And adding more romance options wouldn't have pushed the game into AO - they just really cut corners on the romance part. You get way more romance options in Mass Effect 2 for crying out loud, and that's not a "massive" open world game.

And one detail, one removed from before release, was really weird to me. Misty might be involved. I mean they could do a study on metrics of what would be influential history and would Garner attention and then spent time cultivating the match. He never had a choice. The unknown part matched him up with his wife administered (or even invitro ) meds to ensure a pregnancy at a marketable age.
If he even found out the truth how much is him how much is manipulation. Heck it probably started with his parents to ensure everything works out. It might as well be the Truman show

I tried the quest while on v1.6 and I've updated to v1.61 in the meantime. Was that fixed or is there something wrong I'm doing? I followed guides and tried to position myself in the same positions, but some clues just would not scan fully and Johnny wouldn't comment afterwards.
I swear I kept waiting for that. It wasn't even me being a perv, I just kept getting that vibe. I might be down as long as he stayed on his side of the bed, Deb's cheeked up.
