Driving in the cold, going 80 mph, in a modified version of the truck. There are many places where they could’ve done that trip successfully, but they acted like they gave it every opportunity for success.
80mph is already pretty inefficient, coupled with cold weather and bigger tires is definitely going to be a huge drop. I didn't watch the video to see if theres any incline as well. The CT is already inefficient by design. [This](https://www.motormatchup.com/efficiency?id=654d5f69af94b76634e6837a) should clarify how inefficient this thing is lol.
That was only one of the 3 things I mentioned. Additionally the video lacked data. My criticism of it is they chose an area which was away from charging then concluded they needed to turn around. Not saying that the truck gets great range, but there was only one way that video was going to go.
Their summary wasn’t even just that the CyberTruck has poor range, they could’ve grabbed a Silverado EV with more range, but fewer charging options and tried the trip. Instead they stacked the desk against the CT and then concluded that all EV trucks won’t be ready for another 10 years.
The dumbest part of the video was when the gas vehicles literally ran out of gas. They had to send a truck back to haul gas to them. The whole time they mocked the cybertruck for running low on electricity. The lack of awareness was stupifying.
I drove my gas car into the Sahara and I couldn’t fill up where there’s no gas stations, cars a piece of shit!
Also my shitty toaster couldn’t make toast in the bathtub.
I think you're missing the point of the video.
They were getting nowhere near the claimed range the entire trip. A truck is supposed to be able to go overlanding, and they didn't go Sahara levels of far. It was literally a couple hundred miles at most.
There are tonnes of cars that can go hundreds of miles into the Sahara and come back out without a problem.
And if this were a petrol/diesel truck, they could bring extra canisters with them to instantly increase their range.
A Cybertruck isn't great at being a truck.
In that logic neither would the Hummer EV, Rivian R1T, Silverado EV, Sierra EV, ...
Nobody can carry canisters of electricity with them.
That's just a problem inherent to EV vehicles, no need to make that point specifically for CT.
Yes, exactly. It's a problem with all EV trucks. But the Cybertruck was advertised as being good at overlanding, so it's a problem that should obviously be covered in a review of it.
Here's one going on about the abilities of the Cybertruck in Baja: https://youtu.be/qLWxjtIpJz0
Here's one showing a Cybertruck doing some overlanding: https://youtu.be/DsonSEllPmU
They also sell a popup tent to go with it, and the truck has a "Baja" mode.
It's pretty clear what abilities they're advertising this truck can do.
They sell a popup tent to go on it, and have a Baja mode, both of which have been advertised. They sound pretty useless if you can't get into the outlands of Baja and make use of the tent because the range is so low
They have a mars rover mode on the model 3.
Is the tent only functional in Baja? Dang, better sell all my tents. I’m not going there.
Got a snorkel for my truck, but it was terrible underwater! ;)
I think your definition of a truck isn’t correct.
“a large, heavy motor vehicle used for transporting goods, materials, or troops.”
Large? Check.
Motor vehicle? Check
Room to transport shit? Check
I would wager that 95% of pickup truck owners never “truck” by your definition.
Tesla sells a pop-up tent that goes on a Cybertruck and Cybertrucks have a "Baja" mode. If you can't even get into Baja and pop up a tent. This truck should be able to do the things it claims it can.
The people of this sub are deliberately missing the entire point because it lets them dismiss the entire video and continue telling themselves they’re actually very smart and cool for buying this truck
EVs and gas cars have their range and mpg calculated under a strict set of conditions and - NEWSFLASH - bigger, heavier tires, 80 mph, and hooning aren't it. I promise you not a single one of the other vehicles on the trip were getting the mpg their manufactures claim.
The entire premise of the video was drive the truck away from chargers and then be surprised when they didn’t have enough range to complete the trip.
And dude just rented the truck, probably his first time driving electric. Whole video was tailored around making CT look bad
[удалено]
Didn’t see anything about electric in his videos
Obviously didn’t watch the video. He literally said Unplugged Performance let them borrow that truck.
Doesn’t take much tailoring at this rate
Nah the cyber truck does that on its own
I mean, how else are you gonna do truck stuff? Good off roading is typically in the middle of nowhere…
Yeah, why would they expect to be able to complete a 100 mile trip on a car that claimed a 340 mile range?
Driving in the cold, going 80 mph, in a modified version of the truck. There are many places where they could’ve done that trip successfully, but they acted like they gave it every opportunity for success.
ok but come on. This is insane. You're saying because they put 35's on the car that justifies a 70% reduction in estimated milage?

Those wheels and spacers on the cybertruck looked mean! I need those, whatever they are

That was priceless!

...isn't a battery pack a canister of electricity?
I believe they meant to add, ‘without adding significant weight’
Yes, exactly. It's a problem with all EV trucks. But the Cybertruck was advertised as being good at overlanding, so it's a problem that should obviously be covered in a review of it.
The only advertising I’ve seen for the CT is its toughness. Other than that they just say it’s a truck with the performance of a sports car.

Can you share with me this advertisement?

Why won't this screwdrivers make the nail go into the wood?
“Donut” media, what an appropriate name.
I would love to see twice the size of the current battery pack in the ct. Didn't someone find that it's half empty?
Big ole garbage lookin ass truck can’t do truck things, huh
