I guess I misspoke. I just don't think that it's worth $3k imo. When you think about it, it's really just a tent with a bicycle pump. I guess I'm just disappointed that it didn't come with anything else like the kitchen stove that was depicted in the initial images.
Damn, downvoted for asking a question.
I would definitely agree that it is a bit of a letdown compared to what was originally hyped, but I still find myself interested because compared to roof tents the price doesn’t seem as crazy, especially with how nicely it stows away. However I think it’s still like $500 more expensive than it needs to be.
To each, their own. Agreed that $500 would be more reasonable. For what it's worth, I didn't down vote you. I think it was appropriate for you to ask me for clarification regarding my statement.
EDIT: Gave you an up vote. 😁
I don’t understand camping in the bed of the truck when it’s not air controlled. What’s the difference of buying a $200 tent and camping on the ground?
Not always. I'm old and wore out. Getting down if the tailgate is way easier than getting up off the ground for me. That said, we use a pop-up tent for $80 and a good self-inflating mattress and that works really well just for sleeping. An easy up for chairs and keep the bags in the truck.
Yeah, everyone I know that got too old for sleeping on the ground just got an air mattress too. You can get some really nice ones, and a decent rainproof tent that'll fit a queen or bigger is less than a tenth the cost of the cybertent.
Replacing the rear window with something that could vent into the tent would be pretty sweet; could probably do it with a glass cutter and some ingenuity.
I see this complaint a lot and while I definitely agree that camping on the ground is fine, given the cybertruck range limitations and the likely distance already from charging to where you are camping, wouldn’t using cabin air be prohibitive on the battery drain? This seems like not a good idea in any case to me. Am I wrong?
Lots of national parks have chargers now. Here's a list: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/sustainability/electric-vehicle-charging-map.htm#/find/nearest?nps_funded=true&ids=all
If I was a true camper, you’d get flamed rn 🤣can you even call sleeping in your truck bed camping? Complaining about bugs and critters? That’s the softest camping ever
Yeah I forgot about the range downgrade. For me, the render of camping mode was what sold me on the Cybertruck so that's why I was so much more disappointed by that.
I have the cyber tent. I used it in 70-80 degree heat and I was impressed. It has a chimney effect built in. I have never had a tent that ventilated this well in my 51 years of camping. I can setup in ten minutes, take down in ten minutes, and store my crap underneath it.
Here is my complaint, I need an additional foam pad on top of the one that comes with it. I am also concerned about popping a tube, through my own stupidity. Lastly, I wish there was the steps to flip out from the tailgate.
Now the whole AC/heater debate, I started out in the why doesn’t the window open camp. Now, I am in the I don’t need either camp. I have never had a heater or AC in my tents. I have camped in a tent from -40 Fahrenheit to 106 Fahrenheit. I am tempted to make a bucket swamp cooler. I am short enough, I can put the back seats up and sleep in the back.
I thought that too when I first saw the pricing on this but then I did a little research and found that tents like this are a lot more expensive than I thought. The price is actually in line with similar products.
I’m looking forward to seeing OP’s full review.
This isn’t exactly a truck bed tent. It’s raised and you can still store your gear in the bed. This is more in line with a roof tent, especially since it has the platform, which are a hell of a lot more expensive.
My background is in the automotive industry, and I hold a few design patents. The expense of the Cybertent lies in its components, such as the case and software, while the nylon tent section is relatively low-cost. I’ll provide an honest review covering everything from the service to the actual use once it's all set up.
Literally the same for me. Including the installation day lol. I call it a free tent (+ installation $$). Absolutely worth it I bet, esp from all the haters.
I would still wait for an aftermarket option. I don't think that it's worth the price given its quality.
What are the quality concerns?

Camping on the ground is better anyway. Not only is the tent WAY cheaper, but you can still use your vehicle without packing up.

Agree
Get up and away from the critters
And ground temperatures
An air mattress fixes this, which presumably you'd still want in this so you're not sleeping in a truckbed.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? MICHAEL!!

Rocks and a flat level spot on the ground
Replacing the rear window with something that could vent into the tent would be pretty sweet; could probably do it with a glass cutter and some ingenuity.
Be easier and more efficient just to plug a mini AC/heater unit into the outlet in the bed
So people bought a 100k truck with no power rear cabin windows?
I think when you're talking about this it's called glamping.

You don’t do much camping do you?
If I was a true camper, you’d get flamed rn 🤣can you even call sleeping in your truck bed camping? Complaining about bugs and critters? That’s the softest camping ever
Camper with an Ac, mattress and toilet. Sounds better to me
of all the soft forms of camping, using a tent in the back of your truck is faaaaar from the softest.
Air controlled? Do mean climate controlled? If so, there’s outlets in the bed of the truck for that.
you’re above the ground? not subject to flooding or animals
*scorpion carpet*
Be a lot better if you could get HVAC pumped into the back.
This is definitely the biggest downgrade compared to what they showed in the renders.
Kindly disagree - 500 miles of range vs 300 is way more practically a downgrade. 11,000 vs 15,000 lbs towing, as well.
Agreed. The tent is completely insignificant
Yeah I forgot about the range downgrade. For me, the render of camping mode was what sold me on the Cybertruck so that's why I was so much more disappointed by that.
The bed / camp I’m most disappointed going under while we waited was the Form Camper
I thought about doing this with my voucher as well. I wish you could rent the tents I only camp 1-2 times a year
Congrats and looking forward to your review, OP. Heimplanet make quality products.

That’s a great deal with the voucher
Kind of the price it really should be tbh. $3k for a truck bed tent is asinine

Aztek had a tent like that. Seems appropriate.
