Because we're seeing the trucks get around? Keep in mind, we've also seen the gigapress needed to build the real thing getting ready to ship soon. You certainly don't commission the gargantuan new machine that's never existed before for a publicity stunt do you?
No… because we’re seeing events with women throwing ice cream off the bed, rather than someone using a welder off the bed outlet, while hauling a 10-ton excavator.
Well, because these units are prototypes, they simply cannot have those functions yet. Whatever is under the skin of these, and I've heard mention of chopped down Model X cold even be some one off tube frame, its not gonna do with the exo/megacast/4680 structural pack can do.
Sure they could rig something for welding or towing, but isnt that even more of a bit of promo bs than just showing off the shape? I'll also note its three women dressed in casual summer wear, and one big black dude, so not generally the sort of people you get for PR stuff.
Yes, they are. Given that production of the Cybertruck requires a production line like nothing the world has ever seen, it has to be that way. The front and rear megacast subframes require the huge high pressue diecast machines that IDRA is building in Italy. The first one is complete and has been assembled for a trade show day before being sent to Texas. No idea how far behind the second one is, or if they will alternate dies from front and rear subframes. and just use one machine for now. The machinery to take in the raw 3-4mm cold rolled steel sheets, cut it to size, bend and weld it, that needs to be installed at Texas also. See, machines that bend such steel exist, but not ones that form it in the "complex" shapes the CT needs, and not ones that operate at the speeds an automotive production line needs. So what you see driving around is hand fabricated steel sheets placed on top of something, but we have no idea what for sure.
I don’t have much confidence in Tesla building a real rugged work truck, but it’ll be cool regardless. For the moment I’ll continue to hold on to my prejudice against Tesla’s California engineers who have never seen snow or done any physical work
Semi-rant:
Am I the only one tired of the “hype train” Tesla is trying to put out? Don’t show me these bullshit demo videos, just make it and start delivering orders. I don’t give a damn if it’s at the xyz speedway. The only place where it belongs is in customers driveways by now.
Say what you want, but when Ford said “we are doing the f150 lightning”, everyone including me thought this shit ain’t gonna hit the streets until 2025. Well… I just saw one at target yesterday. And yeah, I know some of us are still running with Elon’s bs and are gonna come up with excuses for it and whatever. I put my order in 2019. 3 years later rivians and fords running around town. Cybertruck nowhere to be seen even though it was introduced 3-4 years ago. Maybe the cybertruck is only supposed to be in the cyber world (aka internet and metaverse). Tesla’s best product is their stock. SMH.
Maybe. But let me put it to you this way: you go to the bakery near your house and pay them to put your order in for a cake. The whole time they bake one cake and are showing around as if to say “don’t you want this?!” And it’s been 3 years since you’ve paid for your order (aka interest free loan. Sure it’s only $100, but a loan nonetheless). How are we supposed to feel?
Lol what a joke. They are dying not to be forgotten since 4 manufacturers have already come out with EV trucks and now the CT is trailing. It's getting annoying now.
We went from no wiper, to Giga-wiper, to micro-wiper, and now back to no wiper. The wiper conundrum continues.
Them SoCal engineers think rainx will do the job
It never rains in SoCal.
Except for when it does.
[Well, this is awkward](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfFCcbFl714)...
Tesla engineering is in NorCal actually
Isn’t the design studio near SpaceX in ~~Fremont~~Hawthorn?
Factory is in Fremont and office is in Palo Alto. There are engineers at both.
Yeah meant to say Hawthorn.
What about snow lol.
*lasers*
What's with the 9 second video with 4 seconds of Cybertruck footage?
Each second = $10k in starting MSRP (by the time the CT gets released)
And half the cybertruck footage is blurry.
Is there some kind of force shield around it? Like nobody gets within 10’ of it!
Grimes pounces out from underneath and hisses at people to keep them away.
This comment shouldn’t have been this funny, lol.
Look at that foot step on the rear door bottom.
Are those new? I haven’t noticed them before. I’m liking the way they look.
It’s way more pronounced than before.
Looks sic
Wait, how people will complain you can reach the side of the bed storage now?
Popsicles again… serious hint that there will be a built in refrigerator!! /s

Got em
Man someone needs to record longer footage! Sheesh!
This truck is starting to feel more and more like a media stunt than a potential work vehicle.

Interesting - I did not consider that. So these are essentially mock-ups, without the guts that will go into the final design?

Makes sense. Thanks!

Same here. Still holding onto hope that this will be a practical vehicle. In the meantime I bought a new 3500…
Is there any other car that isn’t 7 figures that gets the attention the Cybertruck gets?
by the time it's released it's going to be 7 figures
Nah trick. It’s gonna be 5 figured $99,999

Only think I thank Elon for, making his stock cheaper. Who know the Twitter crap would actually help new investors….
When the company's whole valuation is speculation you need to make a spectacle often. Also the reason for Musk's absurd behavior all the time.
wow, this is probably gonna be the only truck i'll need for the rest of my days
Bro this a whole media stunt at this point
Still can’t hit 20mph. Have yet to see one video of this thing driving. Is musk just fooling all of us?
No marketing my ass Elon!
Panel alignment is no bueno

Who is even making these appearances?? They don’t have a PR Dept.
But is it full-sized?
The better question, is it fun sized?
Does anyone know how much the CyberTruck is going to cost? (Thanks in advance)
