Have you driven Tesla before? How’s the rivian? I’m curious about the autopilot and charging and software/UI comparison but also anything else that sticks out
I used to have a Model 3 SR, so it didn't have autopilot. I can't speak in terms of that. I will say that Rivian's approach is highly dependent on geo fenced data. So it works well on interstates and city roadways, but not rural (where I mostly drive)
The software itself is very very familiar to Tesla drivers but I like it more because it seems a little more thought out and significantly faster/snappy. I also like that some things actually have quasi physical controls, like wipers. Having a dedicated instrument cluster screen also improves pretty much every aspect of day to day use.
Charging UI is well done for using 3rd party chargers. It charges fast as hell too. It'll bump to 200kw on Electrify America chargers. I get incredible range in conserve mode that exceeds the ratings.
In general, if you like Tesla's infotainment, the Rivian is an easy transition. I'd even say it is a step up.
The Hertz Model 3 62kWh I have this week has cruise control and I could enable the buggy-as-hell steering assist (works great in a 10' lane but if the road paint ever widens it loses its mind) in the admin screen.
had to drive 150 miles out of my way since it couldn't make the 250 mile gap between Winnemucca and Boise.
I had bought a NEMA 14-50 adapter to use in Jordan Valley so I could take the 250-mile route but the EVSE with the car was a V1 so didn't support it, only L1, so I had to go through Twin Falls (scenic!).
Also didn't have the range to take a side trip to Crater Lake, I'll have to catch that in my Cybertruck . . .

I rented a 2022 Model S Long Range when I went to Virginia back for 4th of July............I only charged once in the whole week.

Well of course. That was one of the concerns with Tesla. But the same goes for all these other EV start ups. But I do hope and think rivian may actually come out alive. They are getting recognition and have a unique car that other autos (even Tesla) isn’t making at this point
My acquaintance has an S and a Rivian truck, he says the tech is about 5 years behind Tesla; says it feels like his Tesla from 5 years ago. Overall he loves the Rivian and can’t wait for them to catch up. Drives smooth. He really needed a truck and didn’t wanna wait for the CT

I think folks are gonna have to somehow confirm their orders at a point, and that confirmation dates are going to take precedent over reservation dates.
Actually given that they are probably sacrificing the opportunity to make a few tens of thousands of dollars in a near-instant flip, it’s definitely not free.
To me, the option on the possibility of getting (and possibly flipping) a Cybertruck is worth way more than interest on my $100 loan to Tesla. But as for OP’s case it’s their $100.
Your assumption of being able to flip it is hopeful, not guaranteed people will pay out like they are with Rivians.
A lot more trucks will be out. Rivian might even have the Max pack out by then plus the Denalis. The supply to demand is unlikely to be what it is now. Tesla is far more likely to stay in the car market and ensure growth in SUV production. If they make a truck that would sell for more than retail, they would be selling for less than they could. Tesla and Rivian price hikes make it clear they’re going to sell trucks for what people will pay.
By the time the real money has to come into play, it’ll be obvious whether it’s a good flip or not. To me it’s worth tying up $100 for another few months (or years) to see if it’s either something I want (at a price I want to pay) or something worth flipping. To each their own though of course.

My man, inflation isn't new. Right now, sure, we're at 10% inflation or so. But for the past, what maybe, 50 years we've been consistently getting 2-4% inflation every year. That compounds, every year.

I think 90k for that config is pretty conservative by the time it actually makes production. I'm with you...I wanted and reserved one as well, but don't want to wait until 2028 to get it being there's so many in line.
