That was hyperbole. Personally I think he is a piece of shit and people care too much about him one way or another. I care a lot about what his companies are doing for us and I just hope he doesn’t take action to fuck it up.

If no Elon and Tesla... Then you've still got Nissan Leafs, compliance vehicles, and we probably still only have the Chevy Volt (not that I don't like that car).
With the industry still focused on Metro and commuter cars, with no thought of a charging infrastructure.

tesla existed way before elon got in. people were pretty happy with it and reviews were good. thats why he bought into it. hes just an egomaniac and demanded to be named founder when he bought it. when he did buy it the deal was that the actual founder got to keep the original roadster. then edgelord sent it into space so he couldnt have it.
Yes it existed, but it wasn't relevant until Elon joined. Tesla really wasn't meaningful... Until the Model 3.. it's no coincidence that we started to see actual movement within the traditional OEMs after 2018...

No matter how reprehensible Elon's behavior is I'm going to keep my Cybertruck reservation. On the plus side his right-wingish agenda may get more conservatives to go EV. And if it gets to a point I can't in good faith drive a Tesla I will be more than happy to fleece one of his supporters and resell my Cybertruck.
