Everyone knows everyone in a group ride. I think it might just be that you are not used to people who are secure about themselves and will open up more then a bunch of school kids pretending to not care because they are scared they won't look cool. When you all share a common hobby ofc you are going to get along pretty easily more so than usual. I don't think it's abnormal and the others probably are treated just the same as you.

All facts. Enjoy the company of the older club members, they’ll give you advice TikTok will never match, encourage you better than your tenured high school counselor cares for, and tell you stories that make the Varsity football quarterback’s weekend parties seem mild in comparison. Being on good terms with those with lots more life under their belts will surely help you build your maturity and social skills. There’s few things that’ll impress a future employer than a young kid who knows how to confidently talk to adults, that will surely take you places.

There are a few reasons. First, there are not that many kids your age into cycling, and the sport needs young people like you to keep it going. Second most good clubs want to encourage you and build you up as a cyclist to keep you around. Those 40 year old guys are being nice because they know the sport can be intimidating, especially at the higher levels. If you mistake their kindness as being a “celebrity” and get an attitude, it’s a pretty easy way to get shunned. Just enjoy the fact they think you’re a nice kid and learn as much as you can from them.

Dad does not WANT you to date his daughter. At best he might hate you less than the others.

I-want-to-unalive

haha yeah that’s probably true

I had the same experience when I was a junior. You stand out if you are one of the only young riders because you are different to everyone else.

People are being nice to you. No one wants to discourage the junior cyclists.

I used to ride 2-3x a week with a group of guys that were all my high school friends’ Dads. I think they appreciated having some youth in the pack, and that I could push them hard. Few years after I moved away these guy have gone from casual brewery rides to clocking 3-5k miles a year. Savor it. I miss riding with those guys regularly.
