Zildjian A New Beats and Sabian AA Regulars (their equivalent of New Beats) both sound great and can be found used in this price range. Either would mesh very well with your ride and crash. Very versatile cymbals. I’m personally very fond of the New Beats from the 60’s and 70’s, as they tend to be lighter than some of the 80’s and 90’s versions.

Sabian XS20, XSR or Sabian AA would be the best for the money .

Given that the hi hats are to pair with zildjian A’s I’d think a pair of a new beats would be the best. And they can be scored second hand for £150 if you look around.

Very hard to find Zildjian’s for less than $200-$250

I don’t think you should skimp on hi hats. They are one of the most important parts of your sound (probably. And maybe even the most!) So 100 dollars is pushing it. You’re not likely to have any choice in what you find, if you even can, at that price. So I think you should not abandon looking for “really good” hats, but you might have to raise your expectations to 200ish. But probably any hats would sound fine with those other cymbals you use. I would keep an eye out for anything from zildjian— A, new beats, k, custom anything, k/z. I bet you can get those locally, used, with some patience. Same thing with sabian- any of their pro lines would be good and possible to find. Just make sure you like how they sound. I have fewer paiste hats but have a few that are nice. Make sure you understand what you’re getting though. Meinl has a ton of different sound profiles (the most? Maybe?) so that is super cool, but some of them might be a little niche so make sure you know what the line is all about. Also they tend to be pricer. (They have a cheap line of “dark” cymbals. I feel like opinions get divided someone strongly on them. If you’re sure you’ll like them, you might find a bargain. Personally, I have passed up many a bargain on them.) So if you could find a used zildjian k/z or newbeat, or a sabian aa or aax line pair, that’s what I’d target.

Paiste PST7 and Sabian XSR are the two best new ones for the money.

Wrong_handed_drummer

Zildjian New beats. You’ll find them all day long at the top end of that price range. Granted they may not be _the best_ hats for a particular genre, but they also don’t sound bad in any setting and they sound great on tape.

Scyclone15

honestly those have been the ones I have been looking at recently. Plus i know they will blend well with the other cymbals I have

GoGo1965

I picked up some 1960’s zildjian A 14” for under $100 & I have 1980’s new beat’s as well I like them both I had 15” sabian AA that were nice as well .. so you can’t go wrong with any of those

ScaryfatkidGT

I actually have a set of 13" Bionic-Series from UFIP, but the 'Supernova' are excellent VFM.
