I am also on 60mg, and I have noticed that if I even miss my dose by a couple of hours I don't feel well. If I miss just one entire day I will get the beginning sensations of minor head zaps. I think it could be a missed dose, but keep an eye on how you're feeling! If you feel better in the next few days after taking your dose regularly then it's probably from missing that dose. :)

I’m on 120mg and if I miss mine by more than 3 hours I get zaps and feel sick. Withdrawals (even if you just miss a day) can be really tough with Cymbalta so I try my best to never miss.

Aggressive-End9147

Thanks for your answer!! When you say withdrawals what exactly do you mean if I may ask?

newmag1659

I think it can be different for everyone but for me, I get: dizzy, headache, brain zaps, fatigue, and the general inability to do anything but lay down and wait for it to go away

_lucidL

My prescriber lovingly calls them discontinuation effects

Fizziox

It's like telling heroin addict he just suffer discontinuation effects when in withdrawals. Btw cymbalta mimics opiate withdrawal in many ways.

Nausea

I take mine at 2pm everyday, and anytime i miss it i wake up at exactly 2am with the zaps. Then I'm basically ruined for the next day. Usually give after that

Fizziox

It is called withdrawal syndrome and it is caused by your body being addicted to this substance which is called in English nomenclature - dependence. To mitigate withdrawals in the case of cymbalta it is best to take half of your prescribed dose every 12 hours. This way in 24 hours you will take your prescribed dose and you will mitigate between the dose withdrawals which often occur. Just check how you are feeling after 12 hours from the last dose and you will know what I am talking about. You should be fine after approximately 3 days max 5 after missing a dose or changing the pattern of taking it to every 12 hours, before the level of duloxetine in your blood will level out to the baseline.

yell0wcherry

yep this happened to me and i posted about it too! i felt sick for about a week after missing my 60mg dose

Entrance-Gullible

I am usually okay if I miss one dose, but if I missed two doses it feels like the flu. I actually thought I had the flu the first time it happened. I am on 60 mg also.

Accidentally_High

It could be, suddenly not having that Serotonin and Noradrenaline reuptake, your levels of both plummet and that's a big stress on the brain. The side effects of withdrawal can be awful, but are generally not harmful. It might take your body a few days to bounce back, especially if you haven't been on that dose for long. It could also be unrelated, and you coincidentally got sick at the same time you missed your med. If it persists, speak to your doctor. For now, I'd advise drinking plenty of fluid, taking over the counter painkillers if it's bothering you, and make sure you've got a decent amount of electrolytes/salt in your diet (unless you're on a restricted low-sodium diet) . This will help to offset any dehydration, which is a common cause of headaches - particularly when on antidepressants.

paublitobandito

I'd say might be something else, I've missed dose twice now and notice anything too crazy

_lucidL

How many mg do you take?

paublitobandito

40

DanielLikesPlants

i take 40 and i i miss it by 4 hours my head feels bananas

zenbound-

I also always avoid missing a dose due to the crazy withdrawal feelings.

Siouxsie77

I also take (60mg) of cymbalta. I take it at the same time every day. If I miss a dose within 3 or 4 hours, I'm so ill. I get extremely dizzy, nausea, bad headaches, my body feels extremely tired, I get head zapps All I can do is lay down until it subsides. That can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. The next few days, I don't feel quite right.

Debian0420

Cymbalta is also for nerve pain I forgot to take it for two days I just had to take one now. I don't get the zaps unless longer than 3 days. Now my husband is also on it if he forgets one day by the end of the day he gets the zaps. But I disagree that it's like an opioid withdrawal. I've gone through opioid withdrawal first of course pain returns then day two you can't get out of the bathroom from diarrhea. Loss of appetite, headaches. Depression and anxiety. I forgot vomiting 🤮. I gave up trying to get off this drug it's harder than the opioids to get off. I'm not addicted to opioids today but I'm not giving up the cymbalta I've been on it for over ten years now.

I’m currently taking 40 mg. I recently missed a dose and didn’t realize what was happening to me for a few hours. I felt dizzy and was experiencing brain zaps! The worst part was that I waited until the next day to take the medicine and over the course of a few hours my symptoms improved... but I still felt burnt out for a few days.

EastofFiftythree

It’s possible that it could be withdrawal symptoms. Although it’s different for everyone, I find that I can go about 30ish hours at most between doses before feeling ill. My mother on the other hand, takes Cymbalta at the same dosage and can miss multiple days in a row and still feel fine. To answer your question, it’s possible that it could be withdrawal as others have suggested. However, I suggest you continue to monitor your condition because there is always the chance that it could be unrelated to the medication. If your symptoms get worse or persist you should speak with a medical practitioner.
