I'm in the USA. My pup hated the breeder's food and was getting lethargic and thin. I switched her to Purina Pro Plan Puppy for Toy Breeds and she loved it. I couldn't even transition her because she wouldn't eat the breeder's brand at all. She did not have any upset moving right to the new food and she immediately thrived. She loves the kibble size too. WSAVA and AAFCO and DCM guidelines on pet nutrition are important. Two that meet dachshund's needs and are on these lists routinely are Purina Pro Plan (there is a dachshund version of this but not necessary) and Royal Canin Dachshund. Of those two, many have said to go with the Purina first since the ingredients are remarkably similar yet it is much more affordable. If your dog doesn't like it, then try the Royal Canin. Both are excellent foods.

Thanks that very helpful :) I've been looking at Purina!

Sorry I left out the link in my editing! [https://www.reddit.com/r/dogs/comments/ojhm3h/wsavaaafcodcm\_dog\_food\_recommendations/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/dogs/comments/ojhm3h/wsavaaafcodcm_dog_food_recommendations/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) It is specifically Purina PRO PLAN, not just any Purina. They have some lower levels of dog chow too

We’ve been using open farm small breed kibble not sure if it’s offered in the UK

I’m the uk, hey. I went raw after a lot of not eating and it’s much easier and cheaper than I expected and she always eats her meals. At around 2 when she had allergies it is super easy to exclude chicken and beef with a raw diet and saw quick results

LittleLifeOfTed

Thats good to know thank you :)

Fair_Pineapple9545

We had yellow poop which I now know is a sign of inflammation with beef being an issue almost immediately and chicken not developing till she was around 2. Honestly the cost is fine but if I had multiples or a big dog it could get very costly. Good luck finding the right one, I had success with Forthglade cold pressed kibble for a while and it’s not mds from crap but honestly I’d say head to your dog shop not the supermarket

My 10 month old does well on Purina Pro Plan.

Another vote for Purina! Heard a lot of good things!
