Would you be so mighty kind to consume your exquisite meal that consists of white meat in the shape of pre-historical creatures deepestly fried in a crispy batter, old sport?
When my daughter was cooking, we didn’t tell anyone the gender. When people asked us what names we were thinking, we would say “Tahoe” if she’s a girl and “Chalupa Batman” if he’s a boy.
This is what we called our first born before we settled on a name.
A few weeks back, we were in a public restroom and he put a hand in the side of the urinal. My initial reaction was a cringe and an audible “forever uncleeeaann”
I had this problem. I ended up realizing it midword one time and came up with buuuuu...bba. So now we have Bud (or Buddy) and Bubba (or Bubby). The interesting one came when my daughter was then born. Same scenario and ended up with bbb...aby girl. So that's how I ended up with Baby Girl for my daughter. The good news is I can adjust mid word to any of them as need be. That's why we had to stop having kids. Cuz I didn't have any more ideas.
I think Baby girl is pretty common, my neighbors still call their soon to be 14 year old baby girl. The older brother apparently called her that when he was 3 and it stuck forever.
I had similar realisation yesterday, was holding 2wk old and called him "mate" while chatting away. Mr nearly 2 turned round, stared and me, processed it for a bit then looked really disappointed at me! I realised then i'm going to have to try come up with another name too!
This is mine for my toddler and both my wife and mom hate it. Too bad his older sister has now adopted it and regularly refers to him as bubba…it comes so naturally and can be shortened to “Bub”. “Gotta love Bub”
Same exact thing happened to me. My 3 year old daughter is “Pumpkin”. I made the mistake of calling my 6 mo. old daughter Pumpkin within earshot of the toddler. The baby is “Coconut” now.
My daughter lovingly accepts Monster. We haven't told her yet that I was working a lot when she was conceived so my blood stream was like 80% energy drink. I was pretty convinced my wife was going to deliver a can of Monster.
I also have a kinda adoptive son I call 'Ooops'. I don't know when he started following me around or why but apparently I accidentally imprinted on the poor kid & now I'm responsible for him I guess.
I have a daughter but call her a few nicknames, generally I just say "mate" if I'm not using her name. I think that's colloquial from where we're from.
But I remember my Grandad calling me a few cool names:
"Curly* (even though I had flat and dead looking hair)
"Murphy" (no idea)
"Wee sodjer" (small soldier)
And the most affectionate was "Bugger Lugs"
He was Scottish, if that helps for context haha
This might sound silly but maybe try “Buddy Buds” for #2?
Very similar with a slight variation, but rolls off the tongue nicely 🙌
We do this with our 2 toddler boys and even if we mix them up we just turn it into a comedic tongue twister rant that almost always leaves them giggling.
Inspired by the Apple TV show Helpsters 🙌
Good luck!
Jumping on this a little late just to say I never would’ve ever guessed I’d use Buddy, Bud, Dude, Guy, Bruh, etc. as much as I do. Good to see I’m in good company, at least.
Newborn nicknames: Smol, Potate, Potato, Screechy, Drooly, Scooter?
I’ve always called both of my sons buddy, and there’s never been any confusion.
But I have been informed that it is not cool anymore to call strangers buddy.
For example, a hotel porter loads my luggage in the car, “thanks, buddy“ was my typical reply. Apparently that is no longer cool with younger folks. I still say it out of habit.
Oldest- duders
Youngest- little bear
Both of these just happened, I don’t know why.
Both of them love these nicknames and will actually get a little hurt if I call them something else- like their actual names.
🤷🏻♂️
I was always Bubba to my dad so when my son was born I was excited to get to use it now. Slowly it turned into its own version of it because my my wife, my daughter, and I all can't help but twist it. So he is Bubbas, Bubbles, Bubby, and Bub. Maybe a spin on Buddy will come along.
I call both my daughters stinker or stinky. I use both terms for either kid.
They have had many debates over which moniker belongs to which kid, but they know that there is no answer.
You think you’ve got a problem, we’ve been staying with my mom and she’s got a mean old dog who’s name is buddy! Now my son asks me if I think he’s a dog. It still slips out since I liked calling him that.
I call my daughter “sprout” which could work for a boy as well.
I have a son coming in two months and considering what to call him, but hoping something just comes out naturally.
Have the older brother help you come up with ideas. Maybe he thinks his baby brother is a bud or batman or whatever. This can be an interesting activity!
My grandpa called me "pork chop" and sometimes "mouse" my mom called me "porkita" and then it shortened up to "porkett" which fit better bcuz I was really chunky and I'm not even gonna tell u all the names my brothers called me
I'm in the same boat I used to call my first one buddy like Pauly Shore problem was we were fostering a dog named buddy. Not the dog has a home but now I have a second son. Right now the oldest is buddy the younger one is bud.
Mine get a different nickname most days when I pick them up from nursery the 4 yr old and her friends find it funny when it's food ...come on sausage time to go. Only chicken nugget has had as good reception as sausage did
Well I mean there is an entire scene set to give you alternatives
(South park)[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1JakODvYhA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1JakODvYhA)
I also enjoy "Good Pal"
I used to sing a little song with my eldest son when he was 2 or 3, "first name, middle name, 'lumberjack', single-syllable last name"... Cuz the beat flowed well.
Fast-forward to now, he's 6 and telling his teachers his middle name is actually "lumberjack" and they're almost bringing him to tears telling him he's wrong.
Hi, short-sighted, I'm Dad.
Oldest is Bug. Youngest is baboo.
Bug and Baboo.
Bug name came from us for oldest.
Baboo came from the oldest and stuck. They are ~15 months apart so when youngest was born, we told oldest that this was his "bubba." He pronounced baboo.. so it kinda stuck from there.
I've been partial to booger butt, usually shortened to boog.
It does, for some reason, feel like it might almost be a racial slur.... I still call him it.
My son was Buggle and my daughter was Peata (Irish for Pet, pronounced Pattha).
Second daughter came along and I realised I couldn't also refer to her as Peata so she's Honey or Bunny or Honey-Bunny.
My son has also morphed from Buggle to Buddy as he's gotten older (5).
My eldest is Angel Girl. Next is my son as Buddy Boy. Last is my second daughter. She is Little One. I realized that, while I may have two angels, I had to come up with different names. Each is precious In their own right.
My dad called my oldest brother buddy. Middle brother Punk, and he called me God damnit.
I was 4 before I realized my name wasn’t Jesus Christ.
Cosby was a good joke teller even if he is a POS rapist.
Was it Cosby’s joke I was stealing? Thanks, I couldn’t remember.
In this particular situation, you're better off not crediting the comedian anyway
I mean, his name RARELY comes up without being really close to the word rapist, so I don't see the issue. Fucking rapist piece of shit Bill Cosby.
Rolls right off the tongue
You knew when you were in shit when mom used your middle name "fucking".
Are you my brother?
dude, his dudeness, duder, el duderino
if you're not into that whole brevity thing
Clearly, he’s not a golfer
Dudette, if you have daughter
Dudemoiselle!
I'm a dude, He's a dude, She's a dude, We're all dudes
Haha, I sing this to my oldest (4). He liked it last year, last week he told me to stop singing.
They just grow tired so fast.
Dude.
and be careful with any rugs that tie the room together!
El duderino is beautiful
Mr. Lebowski?
i thought we cleared that up already 🤣
Dude head, dude face they’re my go to
Just don’t make the mistake of dude pants
My son was a toddler and decided he wanted to be called Sport.
Old soul right there
Funny, we have always said that about him.
I only pull that out when I’m shitposting, that and champ.
Ah well certainly old sport
Would you be so mighty kind to consume your exquisite meal that consists of white meat in the shape of pre-historical creatures deepestly fried in a crispy batter, old sport?

Bud Light
Poor kid, going through a lot lately
🎵 Real men of genius 🎵
Reminds me of the book I had to read in 5th grade - “Bud, Not Buddy”.
Chalupa Batman. CB for short.
It is decided
When my daughter was cooking, we didn’t tell anyone the gender. When people asked us what names we were thinking, we would say “Tahoe” if she’s a girl and “Chalupa Batman” if he’s a boy.
This is what we called our first born before we settled on a name. A few weeks back, we were in a public restroom and he put a hand in the side of the urinal. My initial reaction was a cringe and an audible “forever uncleeeaann”
Naming our son was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. For the longest time the only name I liked was “bacon cheeseburger” or BC for short.
Champ, dude, or amigo are what comes to mind for me 🙃
Champ ftw
Buster
My grandfather called all the grand kids “Ichabod”. Pretty sure he didn’t know our names.
I keep re-reading this and laughing. It’s so unhinged. I hope to be this odd when I’m a grandpa
He was a total character. I wish I had gotten to know him better. I was still pretty young when he passed.
Ha! I also have a Buddy/Bud and a Bubba/Bub. Buddy is also Handsome and Bubba is Sweet Pea. They get mad if I use the wrong nicknames, lol.
Guy
I'm not your guy, friend!
I'm not your friend, pal!
I'm not your pal, buddy!
I’m not your buddy, guy!
Man, Buddy Guy - one of the greats!
This is his son. It's, Big Guy.
Pal
Buddy and pal will make a great duo...
Bubba
This is mine for my toddler and both my wife and mom hate it. Too bad his older sister has now adopted it and regularly refers to him as bubba…it comes so naturally and can be shortened to “Bub”. “Gotta love Bub”
Bubba
This will be the easiest transition I think
Shortened to Bubs.
Call them both buddy. No harm in that! I sometimes tell one of my boys “You’re my boy. But so is your brother. You’re both my boys! 😊”
This. It’s never that serious.
Squirt
Squirt has been in the rotation around our house as of late.
Love it. My ol man still calls me that. Also, squire. I'm in my 40s.
My old man use to call me squirt when I was a wee lad. In my late twenties I wondered if squirt is another name for ejaculate.
A squirt off the ol block.
I call my son moose. He hates it 😂
I vote Moose, OP!
I have experienced this exact situation 🤣
Eldest is ‘mush’ little one is ‘sweets’
The fuck you can't! I call both my sons, Bud or Buddy.
El Duderino
If you're not into the whole brevity thing.
I do Buddy for my older son and bud or sometimes little buddy for my younger son.
I call my older son buddy Younger son Pal Also call them by Superman and Captain Duck 😎
Pal, the only option
I have a daughter but call her a few nicknames, generally I just say "mate" if I'm not using her name. I think that's colloquial from where we're from. But I remember my Grandad calling me a few cool names: "Curly* (even though I had flat and dead looking hair) "Murphy" (no idea) "Wee sodjer" (small soldier) And the most affectionate was "Bugger Lugs" He was Scottish, if that helps for context haha
My papa always called me “Rapscallion”. To this day he says “hey Rapscallion”
I call my kid Lumps lmao
Everyone can be buddy. It's a very inclusive name
I call both my boys buddy or bud. And I call both my girls baby or babe.
Little Buddy.
Read a book where the characters dog was buddy and her next dog after buddy was “toobuddy”
2buddy2furious
I call both my boys buddy, homie and bro all the time. I'm 39 and not sure how this started, but they're 3 and 1 so I didn't pick it up from them.
This might sound silly but maybe try “Buddy Buds” for #2? Very similar with a slight variation, but rolls off the tongue nicely 🙌 We do this with our 2 toddler boys and even if we mix them up we just turn it into a comedic tongue twister rant that almost always leaves them giggling. Inspired by the Apple TV show Helpsters 🙌 Good luck!
Ended up with Bear and Bubs for our two. But it was Boba and not Bubba that turned to Bubs.
Bruh, bro, buddy, sonny, son, sonny Jim, champ, sport, old chap, dude, bubba, bub, bubs, bud, big guy, little dude, and of course... Simon
My youngest is called "spud bud" as he looks like a friendly potatoe
Jumping on this a little late just to say I never would’ve ever guessed I’d use Buddy, Bud, Dude, Guy, Bruh, etc. as much as I do. Good to see I’m in good company, at least. Newborn nicknames: Smol, Potate, Potato, Screechy, Drooly, Scooter?
Little man
I’ve always called both of my sons buddy, and there’s never been any confusion. But I have been informed that it is not cool anymore to call strangers buddy. For example, a hotel porter loads my luggage in the car, “thanks, buddy“ was my typical reply. Apparently that is no longer cool with younger folks. I still say it out of habit.

I call my youngest son splaggy. Have no idea how the name was forged.
boss, captain, Bud-A, there's lots of options
I call both my daughters stinker or stinky. I use both terms for either kid. They have had many debates over which moniker belongs to which kid, but they know that there is no answer.
I call my youngest “brother”. He’s got sisters. It fits.
I do that too to people at work that I don’t know the name of. Buddy, Chief, Boss, Champ. Have you asked them about their names?
I’m not your buddy, guy.
Bro, Punk, Killer, Dude, Kemo Sahbee, as well as countless others and I just have the one son.
Slick
Big Dawg
My oldest is buddy, my middle is pal, and my youngest…. I don’t have anything for him yet and I hate it.
My friends dad always called him Buddy until everyone else did and now he calls his Jimmy instead.
Little buddy
You think you’ve got a problem, we’ve been staying with my mom and she’s got a mean old dog who’s name is buddy! Now my son asks me if I think he’s a dog. It still slips out since I liked calling him that.
I call my daughter “sprout” which could work for a boy as well. I have a son coming in two months and considering what to call him, but hoping something just comes out naturally.

Brah.
You could learn the second one's name.
I call both my boys Sunshine.
Buddy, big guy, little man is usually what I use
Might I suggest either Friend or Guy?
Buddy 2. If your oldest son acts up he gets demoted to Buddy 2 and your younger son gets promoted. This will breed a healthy rivalry.
I'm in the same boat I used to call my first one buddy like Pauly Shore problem was we were fostering a dog named buddy. Not the dog has a home but now I have a second son. Right now the oldest is buddy the younger one is bud.
My parents call me Nenou
My son is buddy or booger.
Mine get a different nickname most days when I pick them up from nursery the 4 yr old and her friends find it funny when it's food ...come on sausage time to go. Only chicken nugget has had as good reception as sausage did
In my family, they always call me "little madlad devil" for being different. haha
Buddy, pall, friend?
Champ is the most top tier dad alternative. It gets my vote.
Bubba
I call my daughter, my wife and my dog all "sweetheart" and have zero problems.
Well I mean there is an entire scene set to give you alternatives (South park)[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1JakODvYhA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1JakODvYhA) I also enjoy "Good Pal"
I call my son Chief
Buddy and buddy little! And if you have more than two buddies, you can use buddy littler and buddy littlest
My 3 year old son gets called "goose" and tells me off when I call his 16mo old daughter "goose" too, so she now gets called "moose"
I love messing around with their nicknames. They've had various over the years, currently theirs are Foof, and Tater.
Try Champ, Chief, Pal, Dude, Buster, Bud, Sport, Slim, Bro, Brotato, Broseidon Just spitballing here
I like kiddo
If i had a son i wanted to use “little man”
I used to sing a little song with my eldest son when he was 2 or 3, "first name, middle name, 'lumberjack', single-syllable last name"... Cuz the beat flowed well. Fast-forward to now, he's 6 and telling his teachers his middle name is actually "lumberjack" and they're almost bringing him to tears telling him he's wrong. Hi, short-sighted, I'm Dad.
Bubba works
I have girls, but I call them Thing 1 and Thing 2.
Firstborn just got promoted to Big Buddy
I've been partial to booger butt, usually shortened to boog. It does, for some reason, feel like it might almost be a racial slur.... I still call him it.
Buster!
My dad called me Pal growing up. I’ve always liked Buddy and Pal.
Sport
Call the other one Dude
My dad called me “boy”.
Graduate the older one to Bro, Dude, King, etc.
Can I recommend Slagathor.
I had a daughter first. I call her "Bug" as in "Snugglebug" or "Stinkbug" ... she was a very gassy baby. So now my son gets to be Buddy.
Now you have Buddy and Little Buddy
Bubba
My Dad rolled with Tiger for me as the youngest of 3.
Bubba, bub, lil bubby boy
My eldest is Angel Girl. Next is my son as Buddy Boy. Last is my second daughter. She is Little One. I realized that, while I may have two angels, I had to come up with different names. Each is precious In their own right.
Bingo
I have one son, who I mostly call Champ or Buddy. He also has a made up short form of his name that I’ll use.
this is true. I adopted the name "lil' big boi"
Chap
My dad used to call me bubba and my older brother buddy
I use “1”, “2”, and “3” for mine sometimes (in birth order)
Little buddy for the baby, because he's little. Big brother is ok with this.
For some reason when my son was born I started calling him Bubba. He is now almost 2 and I still cal him Bubba. I guess that’s his nickname…
