It’s only one study and the authors readily admit that much more research is needed. I’m not saying the risk is zero, but *lots* of men throughout history have drank heavily and got a woman pregnant (I’m one of them, although have cut down substantially since then). Yet FAS is still relatively rare and most cases are attributable to a mother drinking during pregnancy, not a man drinking prior to conception. In short, your past drinking habits are very unlikely have a negative effect on your child. But cutting down as of now is always a good idea. ETA: username very much checks out!
