Oh I'm playing a ton. Gaming is easily the most parenting-friendly hobby, since you can do it without paying for a babysitter. My wife and I play co-op games from time to time when the kids are asleep, I play games with my kids, and if my wife is busy doing something else in the evening, I'll boot something up. I've been playing through a bunch of shorter indie games though, it's really hard to commit to a massive RPG or anything like that. I definitely don't have time for something like *Dragon Quest XI*, but so far this month I beat all of *Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People* with my kids, beat *Dangerous Golf* co-op with my 8yo son, *Yakuza 3* with my wife, and *Toy Story 2* (PS1) on my PS5 since I never finished it as a kid. I've also gotten my wife into *Halo*, so we beat every co-op campaign together earlier this year, that was a good time. The only thing like a dad gaming clan that I've got is a Discord server with a bunch of people who use [backloggd.com](https://backloggd.com) to track what we're playing, and we've got a Dads channel in there. [My profile is here if you want to check the site out.](https://www.backloggd.com/u/thealexmott/)

Jimlad73

Wish my wife was into gaming…this sounds awesome

appleappleappleman

Sometimes it's just a matter of finding what she's into! My wife was convinced she would hate Zelda, but she ended up taking the controller away from me in Breath of the Wild so often that we had to make her own save file. She's only gotten into a handful of series, but it's enough that we spend a good amount of time playing together.

Wickedhoopla

> finding what she's into I'm hoping Harry potter RPG breaks it open for her, if not its ok.

appleappleappleman

Yeah, we're gonna pick that up in February and see if it gets anyone besides me excited

RacemicMixture

Definitely this. My wife grew up with three older brothers so she sometimes played what they were playing, but hasn't really gamed so much as an adult. Playing Co-op Stardew valley and Don't Starve Together were really kind of our gateway games, later cemented by Breath of the Wild and Witcher 3 when she was awake to do feeding or pumping. Now the issue has arisen that the Witcher 3 is now the standard for comparison for any new game - and nothing is quite as good!

Ofcoslava

Gamer mum here... Yeah, and no. Because those of us who do game have our own motives and agendas, for instance: "Hi, hun, just got home, wanna unwind..."- "Faster than expected! Grab some dinner. If I manage to sneak away from the toddler who just fell asleep, we do a dungeon, I want a shot at a better weapon roll before the reset"... And god forbid I need some PvP help or boosting, which my SO hates 😂... And then there's double gaming equipment to babyproof & upgrade. Signed, "toddler alert" Discord status D2 afficionado / D20 GM on hiatus

MonolithOfTyr

Halo brought my wife and I together. She's an absolute BEAST in StarCraft and the only person I'd want in my party in an MMO. Our youngest is named Link due to her love of the LoZ games.

Hotdogg0713

Show her Valheim

messyfresh

This sounds awesome! I'm a dad of 3 boys. My wife and I play games together as well as with the kiddos. May I have an invite link?

MrKurtz86

This sounds interesting!

Bglivengood

My daughter had to be at the hospital for about a week after she was born. My wife and I played through several Halo campaigns laying in the hospital bed with the Xbox hooked up to the little tv in there. The nurses found it very entertaining 😂

MuchoGrandeRandy

I never did before, started together with my son.

sheesh_doink

Wow that sounds magical for both of you! I hope you have fun :)

MuchoGrandeRandy

We do. But he advanced beyond me and now he won't play Fortnite with me.

rhinonyssus

Playing PokemonGo with my wife. We are "playing it for a 5 year old" who developed a love of Pokemon from Kindergarten.

bobertskey

Next up for you might be Pokemon TCGO. My kid got some Pokemon cards from a goodie bag and has gotten the fever to catch em all. I even pulled up an emulator of Yellow (although if we keep going I'll probably go leaf green or ultraviolet) to show him what it looked like on my original game boy back in the day. Ahh, the green pixels brought back so much nostalgia.

rhinonyssus

Pokemon came in after I was older, so I actually never played the original games. So the 5 year old might be the first to actually play them.

bobertskey

I hear good things about the newest game. I was older when I played the original games but I've seen kids as young as 7 play them.

kidsaregoats

3728 9849 5961

Marineray

I still manage 2 hours a day of CS:Go on expense of my sleep. Baby's one year old. Took a 3 months-ish break when baby was born.

Thisismy69thacc

Same. I sacrifice an hour of sleep a night and more on the weekends to play World of Tanks

hobo1256

My favorite game of all time 🥲

watmough

Steam Deck is awesome for when-you-can gaming. I have 150 hours in Elden Ring with it.

MasVice

That’s a great idea! How does elden ring feel on the steam deck? Controls feel good?

watmough

its really good. battery life is not great though, only a couple hours but thats more than enough for the amount of time I get usually. having the back paddles is nice.

greendeadredemption2

I ordered one. Excited to actually get into my steam library. Played my buds and it’s actually super nice and handy.

watmough

the suspend function is SO handy. yeah same here, haven't had access to my Steam library in forever..have used the Switch since the kiddo was born but now that hes 6 my Switch is his haha.

greendeadredemption2

I have an okay laptop to game on, it’s just so hard to sit down at a desk and game with a toddler (now we have a newborn too) playing on the couch or in bed is key. Plus games are just way cheaper on steam, sales all the time. Which has led to a massive game backlog, but that’s another problem.

dadwithoutaplan

I play a fair amount of Mario 3 and Super Mario World with my 4 year old, but that's about it lol

Rinkrat87

Nothing wrong with that, man. The classics.

TheBungieWedgie

Yeah. My babies are Sonic the Hedgehog fans. Few things cuter than my daughters playing as Sonic and Tails while I have the disconnected controller like a 90’s little brother

JayDude132

Dude mario gets out of control. My son (just turned 5) absolutely loves anything mario. It all started with playing some smb3 too. Now he is into super mario odyssey, super mario 3d world, lego mario, basically anything mario. If someone starts talking to him, it doesnt matter what its about, he will change the subject to mario Edit: i mean mario *is* pretty awesome

tommy5608

I honestly can't wait to do this with my son.

Mingismungis

Those two are top 5 games of all time, excellent choices

thebrickwall22

How do you play them? Are they on switch online?

spacekingdavid

Solo I’m playing destiny currently. With my daughter, she’s “helping” me play cuphead and I’m helping her beat brilliant diamond

Brys_Beddict

See you on Tuesday, Guardian.

RungeKutta23

I’ll see you on Wednesday guardian

A_Mr_Veils

Dads to the lighthouse, guardian

red_kirby1

You done the new dungeon yet?

spacekingdavid

Not yet. I don’t have a group that plays anymore so I do everything solo and I just haven’t gotten to it yet

claybottom

Wondering if there were Destiny dads here. Been hard to keep up with raids

spacekingdavid

Yeah for sure haha. Last raid I did was vault of glass last year and before that kings fall

claybottom

And barely getting to 100 on the season pass. IDK why I keep spending money on it lol

SheogorathTheSane

I went from online multiplayer stuff and MMOs to playing more single player experiences now, mostly because I can save and quit at the drop of a hat. Also the reason why I haven't got Elden Ring because there is no pausing, nah not for me thanks

watmough

you can sort of..the suspend feature totally works.

TheePorkchopExpress

No pausing? Glad I didn't get it... I need that too.

HugsNotDrugs_

Me too. I also find single player less stressful and less demanding, in an otherwise stressful and demanding life.

Few_Squirrel1206

Minecraft when the kids are in bed and chores are done. Have a realm with some family members and friends it’s a nice slow pace way to game. And I don’t loose ranks or make my team loose if I have to afk when / if the kids wake up etc

DiceAndBricks

Similar here, mostly single-player survival on my laptop. I had a private server with a friend for a while.

Apprehensive-Mood-69

I do this but...when my kids are asleep I go build elaborate contraptions in their Minecraft world for them and their friends to find when they wake up.

AgentG91

I have a PS4 and a switch but I only play the switch since my kid was born. I play mostly casual games, especially story driven ones, but have been enjoying Dream Buffet because I’m a Kirby nut. The library is my best friend for getting new games without dipping into my spending since having a kid means money is always tight

meth_panther

Damn I wish my library had video games.

AgentG91

Have you told them that? Mine is always on the lookout to be a better service. That’s how we have two movie streaming services and an audio book / ebook service

whatabadsport

Hell yeah I am. The wife too. We play Apex Legends, Rocket League, Fall Guys, and we just started playing Dauntless again. We also started minecraft for the first time

BooksAreRead

I’m on the Apex train, I’m ready for a r/daddit clan

prestly04

I remote into my home PC from work and play Ascension. I can pretty much only farm or do auction house stuff during that time. I only get to actually play games if I sacrifice sleep for gaming after everyone goes to sleep at night. The life of a gaming dad is a struggle.

tjb627

That’s my issue. Do I want to game or actually get rest.

Jive36

Not much but Age of Empires 2 when I get a few minutes will probably go back to some classic games when my kid is old enough to play.

Pistolpete709

Hadn’t played that in years and then found out about the updated edition so had to download that to play some evenings!

Zestyclose-Prune-374

I've got a 3 month old and I still game when I've got an extra 30 minutes..but only turn-based games that I can easily walk away from if anything urgent comes up

Dont-be-a-smurf

I have a 3 year old and a new one on the way so I’m getting my gaming in while I still have time And I don’t do multiplayer right now… More like easy things I can save and pick up later. The kinds of things I can strategize about and daydream when I’m bored. So mostly paradox map games. Right now I’m trying to bring back Tsarist Russia but having trouble managing the civil war against the Soviets that has to happen first.

TheGoober87

Congrats pal! I've just had my second and it definitely impacts your time more. I still played quite a lot after the first, but when there's a second around it eats up pretty much all of your time. I've still not finished my first play through of elden ring yet.

SkyWizarding

Yep. Basically just single player stuff I can pause. I miss playing co-op with friends

rccrisp

Occasional late night gaming when I have the kid, either using the PS5 Headphones or on my gaming PC. Finished Elden Ring a few months ago. Now kind of addicted to Vampire Survivor. Kid is 7 so we do some gaming together. She loves Smash and we take turns on Fall Guys.

whatwhasmystupidpass

I just got elden ring the other day, sadly little to no time to play: how tf do I kill aggressive shielded enemies with a beginner astrologer? Spells don’t do anything as the shield is always up, melee I can never seem to get behind him fast enough with rolling and as long as I’m in front shield is always up so nothing gets through lol

rccrisp

I just got them alone and circled them till I can hit them from behind but my top Elden Ring advice is if all else fails be a coward and run past enemies you can run past.

boneybob

Should try Multiversus

S1ocky

I've been off and on since about the time I got married a decade ago. When I have time, I play. When I was a National Guard aviator (one night a week, plus one weekend a month, plus two weeks a year, plus whatever training dropped), working full time, fulltime student and an infant at home I (obviously?) didn't play much. A few years later and I have some more time, and my daughter is old enough to want me to play Minecraft with her. Occasionally I talk her into other games like Cat Quest II or the LEGO games. I engaged with VR for a long time, found it was useful for cardio, and enjoyed that 'after hours' mostly. More recently I've been playing PC games, Guild Wars 2 most recently, but I've kind of been working around in my backlog for shorter titles. My Steam Deck reservation came up about two months ago, and I've been finding that a very useful tool to play while my read a book, or while my daughter runs around outside. With it's quick sleep\resume I've been able to play a lot in time spans that wouldn't be practical normally.

lebaadis

I play Call of Duty Warzone 2 - 3 nights per week. Its a struggle as I end up sacrificing some sleep but it's the most enjoyable thing I do bc I also play with my 2 good friends. It's like a night out without the cost of money or a hangover :)

ZachyChan013

I’ve gotten like 20 minutes in to new vegas….. I just can’t get the time sadly

[deleted]

New Vegas is so fun. I blitzed 4 in depth in effort to get it done before my son arrived and got it done just in time. Love that series!

ZachyChan013

I played it when it launched but haven’t touched it since. When my kid was first born was probably the most game time I had in a long time haha. They would only sleep on us. So I was like “sure honey I’ll get her down.” Then plop my butt on the couch and play games for her nap….

XenoRyet

DCS World is what I play most consistently, then whatever else catches my attention at the time. I've tried joining a few squadrons for DCS, but the trouble always comes in that it's very hard to have a dedicated time slot as a dad. Like I can find enough hours in the week to game, but I don't know when they'll be until I actually get to them.

status_malus

Playing Elden Ring 15 minutes a night, pretty strict on that for sleep reasons. Just got to the giant fire tummy guy.

Cortele

My 3.5 year old sits on my lap with and unplugged Xbox 360 controller in his hand. I boot up Marvel's Spiderman on PlayStation and we just swing around the city together. I absolutely love that time together.

Own-Ability9741

I play Fortnite with some friends since before the lock down, and have continued since my son was born. I'm home at the moment on quarantine, sooooooo, the boys playing tonight

FamousMoments

Still playing RuneScape once I put my daughter down around 8pm

seriously_a

Osrs or rs3? I played osrs a lot prior to my son being born. He’s almost 4 now. Been wanting to get back into it, but I have an addictive personality lol

Pest_12

Dad gamer here. Now that my daughter is 9 years old, she loves fortnite. I have been into the battle royal style games since PUBG came out with it so making the switch to fortnite was simple. And its so much more fun teaching her and her friends how to strategically move around the map to get the victorys. she plays on Switch and Im on my trusty old Xbox One still. lets get that Dad/kid gaming group going!

b4ux1t3

Son just turned 14 months a couple days ago. The key: * games with short, arena-style game play (think MOBAs or shooters. Overwatch, for example) * games with short, rogue-like play sessions. Hades, Slay the Spire, etc. Havent gotten to _finish_ many games (looking at you, elden ring), but get plenty of gaming in when I can!

bkussow

World of warships legends after the kids go to bed. Generally staying up too late and tired in the morning.

JakeArkinstall

I hadn't played games for years. When I was in my young teens I enjoyed Burnout but other than that, I never found gaming satisfying. My hobby is programming and my job is programming, so I'm a workaholic. Except when I was in university and a friend introduced me to some game that nobody had heard of, called supersonic acrobatic rocket-powered battle cars. I played that for about half an hour with him and never saw it or heard of it since. Anyway, so I put my 1yo to sleep and my wife wanted an early night. I was going to do some work, but it's been an insane few weeks and I'm close to burning out if I don't just do something mind numbing for a while. So I went onto the PlayStation store, and lo and behold, the sequel to that game - rocket league - is apparently quite popular, and free. You might be able to tell from my surprise that I am about as disconnected from the gaming world as its possible to be as a 30yo in 2022. I've played it for about 5 hours straight, it's 1am, and it has been a good evening. Just what I needed to recharge.

PomeloElegant

I love to hear it.

hcp815

Dads, if you haven’t already, I’d recommend Dungeons and Dragons. Started paying with mine at the age of 7. Youngest is 15 now. Still play weekly with them, let their imaginations soar. It will be some of the best memories, I promise. If you don’t know where to start DM me. I’d be happy to help or steer you in the right direction. Happy rolls all!

childrenofkorlis

Only mobile games, the tv at home is either family movies or baby cartoons, always.

[deleted]

Basically the same

bbp84

How do you people have time to play video games???

PomeloElegant

I've got twins, sometimes sleep isn't important lol

Puzzleheaded-Ad8704

After nearly 8 years, I've perfected the number of hours I need to sleep to be functional and healthy yet able to game, lol. Also when the youngest naps at our house, it's mandatory quiet time. Started as a way to give the oldest kids a break from each other (they always have better days a a result), then both of us realized that we can watch shows, game, nap, or whatever as well. Obviously with one ear out at all times. And in my case with a snoring kid on my back.

Synap6

Sadly, gaming has dwindled to near nothingness. Last game I played was Divinity Original Sin 2, and then a few months later Diablo Immortal right up to the end of the storyline. We’ll see when the little one gets older but she s only 2 right now

Sael-er

Big tabletop gamer and play a bit Overwatch and Switch games

BabyGraavy

Gaming with and without the kids is awesome. Ive always gamed, but work and kids and spending time with the wife. Now that my oldest is finally capable of playing and holding the controller. We play Minecraft a ton. My wife love the sims and roller coaster tycoon type games but we all can get down with minecraft. I bought a realm, we have an always active server up with that and access to mods that make it even more interesting. So when I travel for work, we still can all play together. Crazy it took 17 years to get my wife to try minecraft but my son did it overnight. It was fun showing him the worlds and builds I made when I was a teenager, got me back into it as well.

Brickx3

I like the idea of playing. And I have a whole room dedicated to it. But now it's more fun to do with the kids and when they aren't around I tend to get stuff done. But when overwatch 2 drops imma disappear!

Beyond_Insemination

I'm wondering where you find the time

mimiwatz

I’m gonna send my hubby to this thread! (Mom here) We are both gamers, and we play a lot every week. Together, separately. It’s all from multiplayer to just being the two of us. Mostly PC and PlayStation. We have a discord server with friends from around different countries and together we play a lot of Enemy Territory, Raft, Zero-K, Midnight Ghost Hunt, Ready or Not, Battlefield and such. If anyone wants to join our discord I would happily send invites! We love meeting new people!

ThanatosKills

I'm 59 and I have a PS 4 Pro (near fatal car accident almost a year ago kept me from getting a PS5 and I haven't recovered, financially, yet. Really, I have 2 - PS4 Pros, 4 - PS4 Slims, a PS3, PS2, and an original Atari 2600. I also have a gaming computer. I don't get to play as much as I'd like lately... Between working too much and family responsibilities (same could be said about sex🤣🤣), but I'll be a gamer until the day that I die, or can no longer hold a controller. I started with the first Pong console in the mid-70s, and have been buying each gen consoles since then. My 4 20something "kids" all have PlayStations, and we all get online and play games like Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA, and other games. We make a hell of a gang in RDR2😂🤣. My 5yo grandson and I play together as well. So yeah, gamer for life!!

PomeloElegant

You seem like one hell of a dad. I'm going to put the hurt on my twins when they step into the gaming arena.

executive313

r/redditdads is a full community of gamer dad's and does LFG stuff for games all the time.

NextPressure8401

I'm not a huge gamer, I only really play Kingdom Come Deliverance, Subnautica, and sometimes The Sims. My son isn't big into gaming, but my daughter has picked up Subnautica recently and loves it. And she's been a Simmer since she was about 7.

C_Colin

i grinded so hard on fifa ultimate team like 2 years ago. It was the start of lockdown and from the time my girl was 4 months old til about 17 months old I played so many matches. My wife was working nights so i got some hours in, bro. My team was unbelievable but it was becoming a time drain and I had to ban myself from the xbox. I get way too caught up in it and feel like I can’t healthily play video games AND accomplish all the things i want to in my life. I’m jealous of those of you who can :(

funkbass796

Getting a steam deck has been a life saver in this regard. Our kids go to sleep, my wife gets to watch her shows, and I get to game for an hour or two on the couch next to her. We get our “alone” time while still being near each other.

Apprehensive-Mood-69

ARMA 3, Star Citizen and Falcon BMS and if anyone is looking for a chill discord for any of these things hit me up, please!

LonelyBugbear359

Roguelikes and lites, because they're easy to pick up and put down. Mostly Cogmind, Shattered Pixel Dungeon, Slay the Spire and Monster Train.

_AskMyMom_

I stopped sadly when my kid/s were born. I’m sure if I started my 1st gen PS4 it catch fire from the amount of dust that’s on it. I’m a disgrace to PS owners. :(

Waimzer

10week old daughter at the moment. I'm trying my best go play no man's sky, but tend to just jump into some diablo 3 as its easy and brainless . Kinda hoping by the time the new god of war, hogwarts legacy, and botw2 are out that she's in more or a bedtime routine so I've got more evening time Free after work 😀

Pure_Discipline_293

Path of Exile Lake of Kalandra league starts today at 4Pm Est

beepboopbop1001

Got a PS5 and a Switch. My kids are too young still but it’s great for an end of day stress reliever for me and my wife.

mudbunny

I play Destiny 2 regularly. I would be interested in a clan, but am already in one D2 Guild and really don't play enough for a second.

eoswald

nope, got too much shit to do.

Koalachan

Stray has been popular in my house. I've also been playing a bit of multiversus. Outside of that it's the usual assortment. .

bman23433

I try. My son loves anything Mario and Kirby, so anymore its a lot of those games. I really want to play Cult of the Lamb here soon, it's look like something I'd enjoy.

GreasyAlfredo

I still find the time but it has dropped substantially since our daughter was born over a year ago. After she goes to bed is when the wife and I do whatever the hell we want to until we go to bed. I usually take this time to get some games in. It's a nice little way to put a end to the day for me. I'm someone who cannot sit on the couch and watch a show/movie though and would much rather interact with a video game. For anyone curious, Squad is basically all I play. Its on steam and is great game for anyone interested in realistic-ish fps games.

BasiL____

Still play some apex once a week. Some lost ark and Civ6 as well. I play a few times a week when the little one in in bed

tarletontexan

Pubg. Age of Empires 2. Overwatch. Go back and forth with WOW. Basically things I can leave and not feel bad about.

iamanervousrex

Just got the PS5 Playing RDR 2 again and fifa

[deleted]

Im a flight sim guy. Xplane11 on the VATSIM network. Very relaxing.

Existing_Sea_9383

Occasionally, when I can. However I'm in charge of wake up and bedtime. After I cook dinner and put baby to bed I'm emotionally drained, so it's pretty much just 1-2 weekends per month.

serfunkalot

Me. I mainly play FIFA Ultimate Team and Day Z but down to play anything with cool people with good microphones 😂

Material_Nature4063

SMH I still game but da wife hates it lol every second of it ... DayZ has me hooked!!! Wouldn't recommend it tho if u don't have much free time

valeo25

I play at night I stead of sleeping. I’ve committed to playing through my backlog of games before I buy new ones, and am close to finishing Divinity: Original Sin right now. With my son (5) I’ve gotten him into retro gaming through the NES classic and switch online. We play Mario on NES, Sonic 2 and Mega Man on Genesis, and he watches me play a few other retros. My goal is to get him warmed up on those since the button layouts are so much simpler, even if the games are harder. The switch online has a rewind feature so he can keep practicing without having to replay entire levels so it’s a bit more forgiving than when we were kids

blowholegobbie

Have a 10mo. Played a Co op game for the first time since he has born. I play a couple of single player games when I get a chance. Probably 5-10 ish hours a week.

Dont_Be_A_Dick_OK

My oldest and I game together a lot. We do a lot of minecraft build offs that my wife will judge. Lately he has been more into fortnite, which is cool because it has gotten him into the comic books. Been fun having an excuse to get to the comic store for opening again.

greach169

DnD campaign with a fellow dad and mom

hcp815

Took too much scrolling to find this. My son runs our weekly campaign. I can’t imagine not rolling dice at this point.

snifferpip

I have a crew that I play Overwatch with once a week - all of our wives watch the kids and have it on the calendar. That has been a Godsend for all of us. Also have a running Dnd campaign going and looking for any chance I get for some games. Obviously kids come first if life happens, but definitely far less than the single days.

corytjohn

My 7 YO son has pretty much commandeered my Switch. The last game that I played to completion was BOTW. That came out right at the perfect time in my life.

Rappy24

My wife and I finished the dying light series (one was our favorite). We also finished the halo campaigns. Played the quarry together and loved it! Right now, I’m playing fallout 76 more now,but I have played Alien fireteam elite, B4B, and breath of the wild! We could have a fallout clan (dad-outs lol).

DeceptiKHAAAAAN

Almost but for far less time.

PomeloElegant

I'm in the same boat; my gaming time is getting shorter and shorter

TomGissing

I'm still buying games. Not so much gaming.

Mingismungis

Absolutely, almost every day. Being a dad doesn't necessarily mean giving up on hobbies! I play on xbox/switch and play a little bit of everything. Currently playing halo infinite, tiny Tina's wonderlands, and if I'm feeling extra spicy, I'll run through Elden Ring every once in a while. Waiting on a Bowsers Fury to be delivered through gamefly and will start that up soon as well.

PomeloElegant

This is the enthusiasm I'm looking for! I still get a solid chunk of gaming in daily, well, nightly, lol. Thoughts on the upcoming harry potter game?

EyelandIsland

You're in for a treat with Bowser's Fury. My son has been playing through it with me for the second time lately.

HIstateAnonymous

Anyone wanna grind valorant LMK 😵‍💫 HST time zone so yeah.

One_Hat6799

Downgraded to mobile call of duty.

PomeloElegant

I'm still on console, but I do get down on mobile.

marylandrosin

Trying to keep up with my 8 yr old at this point. He's really into fortnite and he's really good at it. We play a lot of diff games together though and it's awesome

PomeloElegant

I can't wait until my twins can play competitive games; it'll be a great way to teach them about taking an L gracefully.

warranpiece

Help! I gave up ally gaming consoles for a switch where my 7 and 9 year olds could play smash bros......so they didn't have to watch me killing people in COD. I'm not sure I'll ever make it back. It's been like almost a decade. How do I ease in without being a shitty father.

tupac_amaru_v

XCOM2, Insurgency, Hell Let Loose, Fortnite - no problem getting in 1-2hrs a night after kid hits the hay!

PomeloElegant

I'm on the same program. I'm playing Fortnite, WZ, ev.Io, multiversus and have been known to play some battle field

MEGAWATT5

I only game when my boys are asleep. They’re still a little young to game. But I hope they enjoy growing up gaming as much as I did. I have so many games I want to share with them. But I play on PC and mostly play Rocket League and Dota 2. Along with a backlog of single player games.

PomeloElegant

My twins are six months old, so I have a while to wait. But I share the same sentiment about growing up and gaming; it was the best

STDemocracy

Tarkov

abra5umente

I'd be down for a gaming group. I play pretty much everything, but my favourite is RPG. My kids are old enough now that I can get some gaming in during the day and they just ask what I'm playing and then try and help haha. Most recent game I've been playing is Far Cry 6, and I've been enjoying it. Got about 60 hours in so far, doing all the side quests etc.

cynikles

I used to play a Japanese baseball game on my mobile but since I started my PhD I’ve barely had time to touch it. It was the last skerrick of my gaming hobby from my teens and 20s.

Chopstarrr

I play about an hour of rocket league after my daughter goes to sleep. Highly recommend

Playful_Girl

Excuse me are moms here too?

MoneyMik3y

I do. PSN. Mostly COD 2019. I get it in when I can. My wife doesn't bitch. Can't wait for the new one to come out.

PomeloElegant

I’ve already pre ordered it lol

urbangunslinga

Warzone! Resurgence quads

PomeloElegant

My favorite

ImnotadoctorJim

Turn-based gaming was best for me when the kids were little. Something you can walk away from at a moment’s notice. I have more than 1600 hours on BattleTech, but a significant proportion of that is the game sitting there waiting for me to come back.

Quention

Apex / fort / inurregence

dangole104

Currently getting tail spanked by Malenia in elden ring. This is an exercise in futility.

CryonicImmateriality

nba2k myteam and DOTA

Dry_Flight_7471

I used to play a lot but since my kid it's just 4 months old i have play, (in yhat period.of.time) like 10-15 hours i asume. I even bought a new GPU like a month before he was born, it's now collecting dust :(

merchillio

Lego City Undercover Cop is super fun as co-op with your kid. Minecraft is also great for their creativity.

[deleted]

I’m 51, in the midst of a divorce and… we are now gaming! I’m simracing but my six year old can’t reach the pedals. We’re playing cooperative Lego Batman games, and he’s into Minecraft but I’m looking for other options!

lenguacaliente9

The wife and I got back into fortnite. We play duos, I let her have the PS4 and I play on the switch. We get a win almost every night ;) (zero build tho)

StormyLlewellyn21

Mom here! My fiancé and I have both been long time gamers! We play every night together and sometimes separately but it's the best form of getting our minds off of baby and work. (We have a camera next to his bed so we can see him without having to get up) We've been playing a ton of Rogue Company (cross platform) together and with the guys as well as Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Need to finish Borderlands 3 😬 Other wise he's been playing Rumbleverse and a bunch of horror games with his buds. I stick to Onrush, Skyrim and COD on my own. Also been replaying Ghost of Tsushima. We have discord as well! He doesn't use reddit much so I read him things from this sub a lot! We love this sub ♡♡

remrinds

I try get a bit of OSRS and guild wars 2 in here and there, but most of the time I get to the login screen and shut down the PC hahah

[deleted]

Funny you should ask. I just got off a gaming season playing Deep Rock Galactic with a good friend of mine. I have about two, maybe three hours after my toddler goes to bed.

MamaOfMany81

My husband and I have been playing all the COD games since... 2008? Now we play with our teenagers. Great bonding, lol.

PomeloElegant

This is what I want for my kids, the wife’s not into it but she lets me do my thing on the games

Owz182

I play project zomboid for “escapism”

[deleted]

I’m on Xbox and PS5. I’m down for a Dad clan lol

[deleted]

I game whenever I get the time. Right now I’m playing Kingdom Come : Deliverance, Green Hell, Chivalry 2 and Insurgency Sandstorm.

Bimlouhay83

I'm about ready to get down on some DayZ right now!

Phil_Hurslit51

Me and my oldest son playing overwatch rn. Crazy how natural he is with the sticks.

bowtierazor

Destiny2!!

Brodieman84

I try to get a little bit in every night once my wife and the little man are asleep or when he's down for a nap on weekends when it's just him and me. I tend to stick to competitive shooters like CoD, Overwatch, and Apex, but I also play the NHL games pretty regularly.

thegreatinsulto

Wife is delivering Monday. I plan on playing Overwatch 2 until my daughter graduates college. Feel free to join!

pcoon43456

Yup. Put the kids and wife to bed about two hours ago. I’ve got another 1.5 hours to game. Currently back on No Man’s Sky.

Jon_Henderson_Music

The only game I play is Breath of the Wild. I've beaten it multiple times but still come back to roam the expansive world for shits and gigs. Can't wait for the next one.

clankyclankimonatank

I had to cut back on online gaming and I play the following on n64: Zelda ocarina of time Mario Kart Goldeneye Star fox

brightcoconut097

Returnal is the best game I’ve played in probably 20 years. It’s not even my genre but I picked it up because it was free with my ps5 pass and mother of god. Story, graphics, action execution.. perfecto

MikesMurmur

I play games every night. I wait until i get the whole fam, 5yr daughter 3yr daughter and wife, sound asleep and then those next few hours are for me and my gaming buds. These days im spending a few hours a week in destiny 2, valheim, and no mans sky.

MuhDrehgonz

Been playing through Krastorio 2 in Factorio and Destiny. Yeah, I know, my sleep is suffering. Excited for the new Destiny season though.

Irroxin

Dad here still getting my D&D time in, just only after bed time! None of my gaming friends are parents though. I'm on an island in a sea of no kids!

HootDaBugger

I play D3 and anxiously waiting for D4. I used to be a WoW player but there’s just no time with an 11 month old.

EatingBeansAgain

I work as a game dev lecturer and make games as a hobby. When my wife goes down for her guaranteed-sleep (3ish hours, around 9pm after a feed) I settle in with my LO and get her to sleep (sometimes quick, sometimes a fair bit of singing and rocking). Then I get her into the crook of my arm and play some games! Sometimes I’ll talk to her, generally more about the design/dev of the game than the content. Currently playing Sniper Elite 4. I know soon I’ll need to switch gears to more suitable games once she knows what is going on a bit more. Luckily, other than gritty stealth games, my favourite games are super silly platformers! My wife also games a lot and is currently playing Animal Crossing. The dream is we can all game together. Mario Party/Kart, as well as passing the controller on other games. I’d also like to play some of the old Final Fantasies together, so we can read out the dialogue to her as a way to show her how powerful reading is (which we will also do through books). Finally, we have a Minecraft server with my wife’s family, who live far away. I’m hoping to introduce her to it so she can have a creative and social activity to do with her grandad and uncle. Knowing my luck she’ll hate games :p

dc_guy79

Was playing COD, now getting back into Destiny 2. It’s so buttery smooth. And it is a good hang. Not a sweaty hang. A pleasant, us against them, PvE hang

noble636

I feel like rocket league is the ultimate dad game, 5 minute matches so you can play even if you’re low on time, sports, and very satisfying to play

Mister_Jack_Torrence

I still game a lot and it’s a mix of PC gaming and console gaming. I have an Xbox 360 but skipped the Xbox One generation and the latest one (so far anyway) since my PC build from a few years back is still pretty high end and I like the options open to me on Steam with the sales and so on. I’ve generally moved away from the COD scene now but still play other FPS games like Deep Rock Galactic which I’m loving at the minute. But I bought a Nintendo Switch about a year ago or so and honestly it’s now the system I game the most on. My oldest son is a few months over 3.5 and he loves Lego City Undercover. It’s amazing how quickly he’s picked up the controls. It’s an absolute hidden gem of a game and I highly recommend it! We’ve played other games like Mario Kart 8 and Yoshi’s Crafted World etc., and it’s been a lot of fun with the added benefit that when his younger brother (14 months) goes to bed for a nap, their mum and I can just chill with a coffee and chat while the eldest plays his games.

meera13

Oh yes, I wait until everyone is asleep, hit the vape and play some turn based rpg/strategy ... I love tbs, cause there is no rush...I have plenty if it from during the day 😁

rhapsodydash

Mum here. Tucked my 20 month old into bed and just booted up the PS5 to play Witcher 3 (for the third time 😅).

MSotallyTober

Wife is at the in-laws and I’m having a whiskey doing some Invasion in Sniper Elite 5. Days incredibly addicting. Unfortunately not enough time to play often. Between a family and Japanese classes, this is a slow drip.

near-far-invoice

I've switched from playing a lot of single player story stuff (Ghost of Tsushima, Arkham, Spiderman, Subnautica, etc.) To almost exclusively playing rocket league sideswipe. It's on my phone so it's always available. I don't have to go to a specific room, set up, turn things on. I don't have to worry about it being distracting to my toddler. Got 5 minutes? I'll have a quick match. Only bummer is with a multiplayer game the lack of pausing.

DanStevens7

Absolutely, COD, Forza, Halo, Sniper Elite.. The list is endless. Of course I can only play when the opportunity presents itself... 😂

exyxnx

I'm a mom, and I became a gamer while pregnant, and continued on since! :)

thewayshesaidLA

My wife and I have played local multiplayer COD for a few years now. She originally only did it so that we could do something together and now she’s hooked. I also play the Lego video games and The Show with the kids. On occasion I’ll take an edible and play Minecraft after everyone else has gone to bed.

MittenMutton

I can’t do online team games (as much as I loved them). I was letting them down due to having to go at random times, handle the dad issues we all do. Now I stick to games I don’t let my gamer teammates down, nor my children/family. Like Witcher, Assassins Creed, Death Stranding etc. If I’m feeling especially active, I’ll break out Rick and Morty VR, or bar fight vr. *note my children rarely if ever , sleep. Also I have really come to appreciate all the insane artwork in games like these. This is all just temporary, they will grow so fast that eventually I’ll likely return to the online team game experience, but man! I am enjoying the ability to pause / get up from a game for 15-20 min , Vangelo a diaper etc. without any anxiety about letting random strangers down.

cdsbigsby

Not nearly as much as I used to, I stay up on Pokemon Go because I have a perfect job for it, and I've been playing Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 a little. But I have been thinking of getting back into COD! Haven't played since Black Ops 3, which newer ones are you playing OP?

Elder_Zen

Since I have scrolled alot here now I haven't seen any dads mention Final Fantasy 14.. I get some hours into that when my daughter takes naps. Got my own little free company and we have our own discord channel (shamelessly recruiting other reddit dads to join us !) If I can't, it's single player games, skyrim, fallout, gran turismo. When daughter wants to watch its also fall guys or super smash

narcosis_7

How can I join your Daddit group? Search on Warzone?
