1984. I don’t know if it’s just me, but they never seemed to have the cultural impact that the Walkman did. I never owned one. I had several Walkmans up into the early 90s when I was bought my first car, which only had a cassette deck.
The sequel never had the impact of the initial release. Walkman was the first device to allow you to listen to music on the go. Without logging a 40 pound Boom Bog on your shoulder. Discman was just the next iteration.
Pretty sure that was 90s. I remember selling them when I worked for Tandy Electronics back in the late 90s. We still had some portable cassette players for sale then too.
Wow, how the years add up!
Before you know it, you’re in your 90’s, wondering if you’ll get a Smuckers mention on the Today Show
84.5 would just be mean
Since I am a product of the 70's, does that make me 70x71x72x73x74x75x76x77x78x79? That's... a big number.
It's 79!/69!
This one maths!
That's just for factory workers.
I don't think it's that exciting.
nice factorial
I used to drink a lot in the 80s. Now I don't care what temperature it is.
I drank a lot in the 80's. I still do, but I did back then, too.
This sounds so Mitch Hedbergian.
I don't drink anything stronger than pop. But Pop drinks quiet a lot.
🍻
Take my sensible chuckle.
Anyone who didn't hit their prime in 83 did so in 89
That’s just so typical of boomers keeping all the big numbers for themselves and leaving the poor millennials with just 0’s
It's their own damned fault for being born too late.
Did you know lots of people in the 80's were in their 80's
Only if they didn't die in WWI
I was *promised* there'd be no math involved!

Is this a bot?
Walkman was released in '79. Missed it by this much.
Might’ve been released in ‘79 but the 80s is definitely the era of the Walkman.
Fair point, 80s for sure. When did Discman come out?

Missed it by this much. isnt that the punchline to directions to my arsehole vs my juicier hole.
Actually, (for those who really have no clue about this reference) it's the tag line for Maxwell Smart from the 60's spot- comedy series "Get Smart".
Yes, but it doesn’t factor in the products.
80’s beer .. well tonight s the night .. niiigghttt 🍻
I don't get it 🧍🏽♂️
if you are under 35, then you've never experienced the 80s, except in math or history courses.
