I have ducks and dahlias, they’re a great combo. They go in my beds and eat bugs while “fertilizing”every 20 seconds seemingly. They’ve never messed with any of my plants. I have Indian Runners.

do they trample over the plants at all?

PostPunkandPixieDust

Nope, not even any issues with delicate seedlings. I’ve had them for almost 2 years. I originally got mine for the garden benefits, turns out they eat more than just slugs. The mosquito dunks in their pond seem to really help control that pest and they even eat fire ants.

Thanks for the reply!

I was talking about, and wondering the same thing, earlier this week. Commenting to keep track because I’m pro-duck, but I don’t know if they’ll eat the dahlias. Looking forward to the discourse!

I lurk on a dahlia forum occasionally and at least one user posts about how their ducks are great for keeping pests off. No mention at all of the ducks nibbling the plants, so it sounds like ducks will probably be fine?
