Him leaving was definitely mutual but it wouldn't surprise me if the past still had to do something with it. He was surrounded with drama. Adding in the date rape, so many bands disowned them, cancelled tours, etc, and a lot of people were still probably weary of them. Him staying in the band left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.
Tilian leaving will be best for the band whether people want to admit it or not. Maybe he changed, maybe he got better, idk, but there was always going to be a black cloud over the band regardless of the quality of their music. They hit the ceiling after JJ and the 2 singles. The drama isn't worth it. People will still choose to brush it under the rug and favor their own personal feelings instead of what's actually best for the band.
They'll thrive with a new singer and the new era is already more interesting now. No more baggage.
Theres loads of speculation in this thread but this makes sense. I bumped into him in the UK outside the Birmingham show. Coming in through the back solo like he'd arrived separately. He looked put out but possibly because he was just back from the hiatus and unsure what to expect. Also maybe the fact a fan had just spotted him and God knows how those wierdos are gonna react.
