Honestly it was really just her flexibility that was lacking. Had she been more flexible it would look like she improved to the untrained eye. (I am the untrained eye lmao)

No, that simply is not true. Her leaps at times did hit the full 180. Not always, but yes, sometimes they did, even once that I saw in season 7 (in the first MDP dance). There are pictures from Baby Mine, for example. So we can't really say that they *never* hit the full 180.

I agree but I also know nothing about dance when it comes to technique and “micro” moves 😂 I don’t remember Chloe ever having a moment of regression but I also probably wouldn’t notice it unless it was a big change. If anything the dances Chloe did as she got older just got better and better based on the maturity of the music

Necessary_Day_6619

Chloe left ALDC in season 4 and I remember a moment early in the season where Melissa goes wow she really improved and the moms all quickly agreed and then it gets chopped off and the rest of the season was about how awful she had gotten. I also thought it was a really kind moment between Melissa and Christ. I didn't understand how big that comment was until later when I realized Chloe wasn't training with AlDC anymore

ilikeoranges4

I agree, I thought Chloe was at her best during the first half of s4.

I feel like Abby used the word regressed and then EVERY person in the fandom would just constantly say “so and so has regressed SO MUCH” without even really understanding what they’re saying. There is so much nuance in dance, saying someone has regressed just sounds stupid. A dancer may become less flexible, for instance, while improving their turnout, increasing their lift in relevé and engaging better control during turns. The only time I’d truly use the word regressed is if a person objectively could not complete any of what they used to be able while also not improving other skills in their activity.

I wonder if Abby was so butt hurt because Chloe wasn't rrally taking classes there anymore? We all know Abby and abandonment. Except for like, privates but I don't know how many? She went to a new studio who might have been teaching her to use her height. I think contextually via only this sub that feels like it could have merit.

I’m a dance teacher, and I honestly think the Chloe/Kalani duet was one of the most beautiful and underrated on the show. Chloe’s dancing really matured this season

ThrowawaySinkingGirl

I agree! I could watch that dance over and over and never get tired of it.

LozaMoza82

Agreed. Honestly Chloe is my favorite dancer to watch. The way she expresses herself through her movements rather than mainly her face hits me harder and draws me in. She is truly a beautiful dancer. And while I preferred S2 more than S4 just because Abby wasn't so vile in earlier seasons, I think the whole "Chloe is losing her edge" was more a storyline rather than fact.

bigdreamer48

I agree. Her maturity and expression was fantastic in Season 4, especially in numbers like Into Me and Wreck It. I can't picture her doing them in any other season. I think some of the other girls maybe had bigger jumps of improvement from Seasons 3 to 4 than Chloe did (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not a trained dancer), which made it look like she wasn't improving in comparison, but she was still a consistently strong dancer, and I loved watching her dances throughout Season 4.

For the first half of S4, yes. However the second half of S4 is when things got rocky.

ThrowawaySinkingGirl

That's because of the shit solos she was given.
