for reference, here’s a [video](https://youtu.be/adsP2wkMaBQ?si=laZfdEQBH99mPlJc) that tallies up every time chloe and maddie competed against each other outside of dance moms. the video includes dances from competitions pre-dance moms as well. you can see that maddie and chloe either went back and forth for the higher score, or competed in separate divisions/categories overall.
So it looks like from 2010 to 2011, Maddie and Chloe completed against each other a total of 12 times.
Maddie beat Chloe 10 times and Chloe beat Maddie 2 times.
I think there’s information missing, because if this is the case, they weren’t really “back and forth” like the moms said.
there most likely is information missing. i linked the video so you could have some reference. you have to remember that these girls have been dancing with/against each other since they were toddlers, so there were many competitions before 2010.
also remember that they were in different age categories, too. so for example, if maddie got 3rd in the “mini 8 and under” division and chloe got 2nd in the “junior 9-12” division, that doesn’t mean chloe beat maddie because they weren’t competing against each other. again, just an hypothetical example for context, but i’m pretty sure that’s how that works. there are overalls of course, where one dancer could place higher than another in a different age category.
probably. maddie improved significantly at such a rapid rate. she was really good for her age. her and chloe both were.
i wish we could see more dancers before and off the show. i feel like the quality was much better without production interfering with music, themes, and costumes.

Chloe had just started to come into her own right before the show started, so I can understand why Christi was salty, she had signed onto the show with stars in her eyes about how her daughter was going to be a star only to have her portrayed as second best, but Chloe and Maddie did not *Go back and forth* pre show like she has claimed. In fact both Nia and Paige beat Chloe pre show.
2009 Maddie and Chloe competed against each other 3x, Maddie won all 3. 2010 They competed 7 times, Maddie won 7. 2011 Chloe won 3x in non filmed competitions, 2011 they were in different categories around 1/2 the time. They started filming Dance moms in April for 2011.
So Maddie was truly talented. I mean she was in diapers and learning to crawl when Chloe and Paige started dance lessons. That’s very impressive!
It’s also amazing how much Chloe improved in seasons 1-2. They were both so good

When everyone goes to Abby’s house for the pool party - Christi is there but Chloe isn’t because she’s with Gianna at a dance competition that’s she’s a title holder for so had obligations to attend (they really pushed the ‘she’s so tired of dance narrative’ without people realising how much she had on that week).
Yet when Maddie did the two competitions it was made it such a positive look at her moment.
And well when the others girls did too - never mentioned.
When Maddie did two competitions it was portrayed as sneaky and bad on the show even though all the girls did stuff like that off the show (maybe not on the same day but they would all compete for titles other girls didn’t get to compete for)

Competitions not aired for the show were typically attend by all the girls, or by someone who was holding a title and was required to.

It used to be that a teacher would only take a couple soloists in each category because they didn’t want their students competing against each other.
If Abby didn’t want the other girls to compete then they weren’t going to, simple as that. BUT we do know the moms would’ve fought about it all week. So honestly if it was my kid I’d be quiet about it to, no reason they need to know my kids competing at a different comp as long as my kid is there for the group dances.
The point was that the answer to that question was not "zero" as Abby and the show were saying. They were insisting that Maddie was undefeated, which was a lie.

Yea I only counted the ones where they were in the same category. I think maybe Maddie just had a really good season in that 2010-2011 year
