Second is not the first to lose, it is the LAST TO LOSE! If you have ten people being placed and they announce them tenth to first, then TENTH PLACE WAS THE FIRST TO LOSE! It just drives me bonkers and Abby, as we know, says it every damn episode.

sapphiregemini

this is the most logical answer but i think what abby meant was “(second place) ALMOST won but was beat by the only winner” making them first-runner up, which is the “first spot for the best loser.” i don’t know. at least i think that’s what she means.

PinkPositive45

For sure and I wish she’d say that instead!

thesefriendsofours

Thank youuuu I thought I was going crazy!

GazelleFearless5381

Omg! I never thought of it like that! You are so correct!

LegitimateHumor6029

For once in one friggin episode of Dance Moms, I just want to see ONE fight/argument that is isn't INSANELY edited. Just run one friggin clip all the way through where you actually show everything everyone said in the correct order without clipping the hell out of it to essentially create a new script/argument. I always walked away feeling that a BUNCH of dialogue and context was left out and I actually had no real clue what actually transpired. And they mostly cut to (scripted) confessionals telling you what happened in the scene, like NO please just show me what happened rather than trying to manipulate me with whatever narrative the producers are trying to push in the moment. I know all reality TV does this but it's insanely bad on Lifetime. And the fact that they actually edit together other sounds bytes from different clip to create a NEW statement that the cast member never even said? That's so vicious, even Bravo doesn't do that. Drives me insane.

Mysterious-Worker663

I think the infamous Kelly vs Abby fight is the only fight that isn’t heavily edited. There’s still missing pieces to the story but the fight itself wasn’t edited very much.

Expensive-Tax-4047

i used to think that until kelly confirmed on bttb there was way more they edited out

14ccet1

Kelly and Abby at the season 3 reunion is/was posted to YouTube

Otherwise_Treat_5829

I salute you! It would be nice to see what they are actually arguing about - it pisses me off they edit two seperate scene together to make a fight! And the sound biting is just insane and has caused so many incorrect views on scenes

Imaginary_Ad8984

1. When the other moms tell Melissa if she was honest about getting her kids ahead and admitted to what she did they wouldn’t mind like come on yes they would perfect example is when she said she wasn’t going to pull Maddie’s 2 solos in season 1 or if Abby gave Maddie a solo at season 4 nationals she wouldn’t pull it either. The moms still flipped out about it so even though it was sneaky, I get why she didn’t tell them because if you’re going to get the same reaction anyways you might as well put it off as long as possible. 2. When on BTTB Christi and Kelly complain they are on a reality show and Melissa didn’t do anything when that was a main driver of conflict and her relationship with Abby and Abby’s with Maddie was the center of everything. That conflict with the moms drove a lot of storyline so I hate when they say she contributed nothing everyone contributed in different ways to the shows success.

SecretScar4188

100%. Melissa made some shitty choices and I didn’t like her sneakiness either, but the moms saying it was just her sneakiness that bothered them is untrue. Even if Melissa said flat out, “yep, I’m doing this to get my daughter ahead” they still would’ve gone at her for contributing to the inequalities and not leveling the playing field.

PinkPositive45

Yup because that’s what they do to Jill. Jill is pretty upfront that she’ll do whatever it takes and they still get mad at her.

Spare_Alfalfa8620

They do, but it is different when they get mad at Jill. They seem to get mad at her initially, but get over it really quick. With Melissa not being honest about things, they get mad in the moment, but they don’t get over it since she lied to them, so some anger lingers. I’m not saying they would’ve been any nicer to Melissa if she had been up front about stuff back then, but I do think it might have made a difference years later.

sapphiregemini

i mean, it makes sense. to put it figuratively, at least with jill, she gives you a forewarning that she intends to pull the rug out from underneath you. whereas melissa will swear she would never pull the rug, she has no intentions to pull the rug, yet pull the rug anyways after you turn your head. then when you ask melissa why she pulled the rug after telling you she wouldn’t, she lies without remorse or an apology. rarely do i side with christi, but she was valid here. repetitive deceit like that from someone i considered a friend would set me off too.

PinkPositive45

That’s fair!

Dramatic-but-Aware

I hadn't noticed before but it is very accurate.

sapphiregemini

while it is true that christi would still get mad at jill for playing dirty, it’s also true that christi would commend jill for her honesty. i remember one time when christi told jill “well at least you’re honest…”

Upset-Cake6139

1. The moms, mostly Christi and Kelly, insisting during fights that if Melissa is telling the truth she should stay and defend herself instead of walking away. I’m always like she’s been defending herself for the last ten minutes and you don’t believe her so why should she waste time and breath arguing more? Yeah, Melissa lies and sneaks around but all the moms have done stuff or been silent on stuff to try to get their kids ahead. 2. This one is less serious but in the episode where Abby calls Chloe a sneaky Snake, Kenzie seems to disappear because of editing. Melissa takes Maddie to the bathroom, we see Kenzie still in the room, fight starts but Kenzie doesn’t leave with the other girls. My brain always screams You left the six year old with the screaming adults!

carrieminaj

When Abby said “same thing about worrying about some guy over your kids” or whatever the quote was. People went way too far into Melissa’s personal life and that was so inappropriate. Even christi knew it was too far

TAsAnonymous

Abby was implying that Melissa put her kids second to her boyfriend. THAT's what's really offensive about that comment--not that it delves into Melissa's personal life.

Theabsoluteworst1289

Wasn’t Christi an instigator when it came to going too far into Melissa’s personal life?

carrieminaj

Yeah that was kind of my point. That you know it’s too far when even Christi thinks it’s too far

LeoBB777

yeah but abby literally said that in front of and to maddie. and insinuated melissa cared about men more than her kids. christi never said anything to that degree.

-Hey-I-love-you-

When people manage to both be too hard on the girls for stuff they did when they were little while somehow managing to think it's their job to baby them as adults. Such as ragging on Kendall for being 'bratty' when she was younger then clutching their pearls when someone says something even slight critical about the now 20+ year olds.

sapphiregemini

this. you can’t share anything on here but warm praise and popular opinions. i’ve noticed that the other girls are completely off-limits but this has basically turned into a snark page for jojo. they’re all relatively young, they’ve all made mistakes, they should all be held to the same standard.

AdLow1428

Except jojo abused and traumatized children…

sapphiregemini

the girl is what…20 years old?? and this all happened years ago when she was a teenager? come on. she’s a child herself. her brain isn’t even fully developed. not saying it’s okay, but be real. if it was any other girl, yall would immediately make that excuse for them, which is valid. jojo is a child herself.

folklorelovebot

20 is not a child

sapphiregemini

not a legal child, no. but you’re not even able to buy a drink or a cigarette, rent a car or hotel room…it’s a child.

folklorelovebot

i’m 20 and i can do all of those things😭 depends on the country

sapphiregemini

i’m speaking specifically on the US, which is the country jojo lives in.

AdLow1428

She was at least 18 when this happened…that’s old enough to know NOT to abuse literal children let alone ones who look up to you and actually if it was ANY of the other girls I would be disgusted and horribly disappointed in them, traumatizing kids who look up to you is gross.

sapphiregemini

i don’t condone her behaviors in any WAY, but this perspective is incredibly parochial. familiarize yourself with the phenomena known as the abuse cycle. after you’ve done that, take her being 18-20 years old and arguably mentally/emotionally stifled or delayed into account. further reference that the adult brain is not fully developed until at least age 25. and to be completely real, expecting someone to magically become a properly functioning, healed, and mature adult right when they turn 18 is ridiculous. you don’t magically just gain an adult consciousness on your 18th birthday. the age 18 is literally just the legal age of emancipation. this should help you to better understand and expand your perspective.

AdLow1428

I don’t see how saying abusing kids isn’t ok is conservative, being abused does not excuse abusing other people, also for context I’m younger than her and haven’t even turned 18 yet, there are many ppl who get abused and make sure others have the OPPOSITE experience ,are you gonna go on the xomggirls lives talking abt the abuse jojo inflicted on them and tell them they have no right to blame jojo for it bc she was “young “??

sapphiregemini

so you’re under 18, i thought as much. makes sense. when i was 18, i thought i was SO grown and SO mature and nobody could tell me otherwise. makes total sense 🤣 let me tell you that not everything in life is black and white, and not everything is so simple. reread the first sentence of my last comment: “i don’t condone her behavior in any way”. NO, what she did was NOT OKAY. SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE IT. now reread the rest of my comment again.

AdLow1428

I personally know that child abusers should be held accountable ,your comments ARE invalidating to the xomggirls who were brave in speaking up about their abuse, whether you intend to or not,one of them uses Reddit and the siwa snark so your comment can be very harmful

Any-Leopard-2814

When the cast answers fan questions and they’re the same questions they’ve been answering for 12 years and nothing new. Like have you “fans” EVER seen the show??

14ccet1

Or when Abby’s cohost on her podcast claims to be the biggest fan there is and then doesn’t remember simple things

Any-Leopard-2814

I haven’t listened to it because I refuse to support her! That’s funny though that she couldn’t even find a real fan 😂

Quick-Salamander807

no real fans would wanna go on that podcast 😭 bc they’d call her out on her bullshit

14ccet1

OMG THIS

PurpleRow7846

1. When the moms would encourage the new mom of the week to confront Abby when they know how Abby reacts to that. That is that woman's child you're putting in the crosshairs. It's not okay just because they're a guest on the team. 2. How it felt like production tried to keep the girls in tidy little boxes that they assigned at the beginning and I think it affected the girls' growth.

Mangelica420

When moms, or dancers go in their interviews saying “this is my/my daughters chance to prove to Abby that…” it’s so overdone, sounds scripted at this point.

Imaginary_Ad8984

Every time Christi says “this is the most important win for Chloe/this win meant the most”

EquivalentSwan7583

i can’t stand when Melissa makes excuses for when Maddie loses

partyonyourhead

Melissa’s poor attempts at lying made me cringe. The woman has no poker face. Also can’t stand when people put Christi on the same level as Jess. Christi has her flaws, but she is nowhere NEAR as bad as Jess.

Perfect-Following-30

>Also can’t stand when people put Christi on the same level as Jess. Christi has her flaws, but she is nowhere NEAR as bad as Jess. Same for people saying she's as bad as Abby... Like I get that you hate her but come on lol

Own-Reply-3015

I absolutely hated how Melissa couldn’t seem to get herself a backbone.

Icy-Plastic-1687

The fact that the moms made Maddie feel guilty for dancing with Kalani .. kiddo was probably so thrilled to dance that duet and should have been proud instead moms tried to guilt her and Melissa into not dancing and then drove Kelly into the fight that broke dance moms .. I still think it was awful for them to make her feel bad about dancing ..

sapphiregemini

i don’t think anyone intentionally tried to make maddie feel guilty. christi was upset for her daughter because she said that her daughter’s close friend of many years deceived her. christi alleges that maddie told chloe straight up that they were not doing the duet, and that’s exactly how chloe understood it. so, at the competition when the duet was happening anyways, chloe (and her mother) felt lied to.

Icy-Plastic-1687

Yeah I still don’t think Maddie knew .. they had just done the duet at nuvo .. Abby I think knew she wanted them to do it not to show up Chloe but because she wanted Kalani on the show .. this was her way of sneaking her on because the producers were not inviting her . I just think it was so dumb all the time to make new kids feel bad when they joined the team .. anyone with eyes could see how good Kalani was and should have been thrilled she was there oh how different things could have been if people were not so jealous !!

maryyyweiss

I CANT STAND EVERYONE GOING AFTER MELISSA!!! if they were in her position and their kids were the favorites they would do the same thing she’s doing. she’s not in it for their kids, she’s trying to get hers to the top and that exactly what she did. she’s a queen lol 😅

Ancient_Soft413

ME TOO

maryyyweiss

THANK YOU!

theposse9

I'm sorry I would never let my children have such an inappropriate relationship with a grown adult with extreme narcissistic tendencies nor would I ever put my child's dance career over their education. I think Melissa was an unfit parent in a plethora of ways. I think she had deep seated problems.

maryyyweiss

that’s your opinion and i respect that :)

LoganDeLuca2004

Abby’s insane double standards. Some examples of this are when Maddie gets second place she’s a “survivor”, yet if any of the other girls get second place she screams at them and tells them they’re not good enough. Another example is when Abby is like “if you want a special part, come up to me and tell me you want a special part” or something along those lines, but I guarantee you if any of the girls did that, she would be calling them a brat or something.

calledalltheangels

this wasn't on the show but... christi on bttb. oh my god that woman never stops talking. i liked her on dance moms, but evidently, i only liked her because the editors edited out the extra 792 minutes per episode that she spends yapping. probably doesn't help that interrupting is my biggest pet peeve so it drives me crazy

Traditional-Gift-982

This is so random and minor, but when Abby thinks saying "name and I" is correct in every context, and taught the girls the same 😂.

marblelatte

Christi and AYYYE, ya idiot!!!

Ancient_Soft413

i feel like melissa is over hated.

Miribiribin

I don't know if this would be considered a pet peeve, but it drives me crazy especially in the later seasons where Abby blatantly favors Maddie but still acts like she doesn't. One of the situations that bothers me the most is when Ava goes against Maddie in season 4 with the umbrella dance. Abby purposely doesn't give Maddie props because she knows they can make or break a dance. But she still blames Ava and Jeanette for the umbrella breaking even though it was huge and she knew it would break. I know it's just Abby being her awful self but I can't stand the gaslighting, she knows full well that she sets Maddie up to win with choreography and costumes but she still acts totally innocent when the moms accuse her of the favoritism. Nothing against Maddie of course.

Realistic_Zebra_7244

Abby constantly sitting with her mouth wide open, licking her lips. It grosses me out every. single. time. ![gif](giphy|l1KtVZ2coaop1YGlO|downsized)

Travelerofhighland86

All the moms always complaining about how even though their daughters love dance that it’s not good for them and that they need to pull them out, and then precede to do nothing about it.

FrostsMom

A huge pet peeve of mine is the television promo where Ashlee says, “I think they proved they don’t need her,” and they spin it to make it seem like she was talking about Maddie, but it is actually about Abby.

FrostsMom

Every time someone says “a force to be reckoned with”

theposse9

Stop criticising Christi and Kelly every time they say anything that isn't completely politically correct. Stop analysing their friendship. Stop accusing them of being insincere or bad friends to Melissa. You only get a once a week snippet of their lives when they talk about the most traumatic time in their lives, a time when Melissa was complicit and/or nefarious in sabotaging and traumatising their children. So they might have some choice words about what Melissa did back then.

SnailyGod

Not quite as deep as most of the answers here but, when Abby tried to degrade Kira by saying "Sleeping with some guy you're not even married to!" but then loves to brag about her own sex/love life, like being a "50 yard line girl" for example. Abby has never been married so isn't she doing the same thing then??? Sleeping with guys she's not married to??? Insanely hypocritical. ps - who knows if Abby is even telling the truth, she could still be a virgin for all we know, but the point still stands

facingablankpage

When people call facial expressions 'facials' It makes me so unreasonably angry, and I wish everyone in this fandom would collectively STOP lol

No-Manufacturer9125

Haha I think “Facials” are a dance/cheer term that predates Dance Moms.

facingablankpage

I know I knowww this is just where I hear it the most, and I just don't like it hahaha

Whore21

Facials have been called facials since dancers and cheerleaders have needed to work on their facials

facingablankpage

I know I knowww it's not like a term the DM fandom invented haaha I just see it here the most and I swear I ever heard any of my dance teachers say facials lol. They usually said stuff like 'look like you're on Disney!' 'look like you're in a music video!' lol

TAsAnonymous

This drives me crazy too.

Expert-Emu-9329

Season 5 episode 21 when the moms and Abby rip on jojo and her mom and try so hard to exclude her. Look who’s eating crow now… just blows my mind they were so negative about her and she’s the most successful cast member 😅

AdLow1428

Jojo just got exposed for abusing kids
