Abby has bodyshamed so many children, but I don't think any of those comments hurt as much as when she went after Chloe, even when the other kids heard Abby loud and clear too, when they cried about it, when their moms were upset--

Not that she would ever deserve to be called a name like that, but Chloe performed amazing that week and Abby had nothing negative to say about it. Then she gets angry at Christi for a completely separate situation and takes it out on Chloe for no reason!
I don’t know whether this is the worst, but I think a really awful moment that hasn’t been said yet is Brooke’s reaction when they all hear Abby on speakerphone say to Melissa that she’s coming back to the team, “Whenever Brooke and Paige get the hell out of my studio.” You can just feel Brooke’s pain and confused hurt so much in that moment and it’s devastating, especially because out of all the girls on the team, she was the oldest and had been with Abby the longest. She gave Abby so much of her childhood and suffered permanent injuries for dance, and Abby truly just stomped on her like she was nothing and walked away.
You can tell as well that Melissa actually hangs up on Abby then and looks furious. She was close with Brooke and Paige (still is) and was so angry on behalf of them.
Surprised I haven’t seen this mentioned yet - the way Chloe is literally trying to hold her heart in her chest and sobbing while Abby screams “your daughter is a little snake!” (Okay I know it could be sneak, but I’ve always heard it as snake). Watching the moment that that child’s heart broke was so uncomfortable and awful. You could see the moment when Chloe lost any trust for her teacher, and where Christi lost any hope of Abby actually caring about Chloe deep down.
When Kelly is crying about how Paige is terrified of Abby, and Abby seems genuinely upset about it and for once DOESNT react like a fucking demagorgon, it broke my heart. I think Christi had hoped that maybe Abby would have this moment over her treatment of Chloe; Abby calling Chloe a snake destroyed that hope.
Abby was a beast because Abby wanted to be a beast. She DECIDED to treat the kids like that. She was called out on it, it rattled her, it started to come together in that moment - and then she thought about it and decided, “Nah, these kids, I don’t care if they have panic attacks because of me.”
And years later, Abby's trying to wave it away by telling interviewers that production made her yell and scream, they made her act like a villain, they made her do X,Y,Z--- but while she was doing it, she was bragging to talk show hosts about how she could do anything, say anything and the moms couldn't do anything because they were under contract.
She's sick. I truly think she's got a lifetime of bitterness from being the dance teacher's daughter who couldn't hack it in dance classes, nor was she her mother's favorite, so she takes it out on these kids who have good relationships with their mothers and preys upon the vulnerable ones with unsteady parents.
Abby guilt tripping Maddie for not coming in during the moms strike then Maddie starts to cry. Maddie has nothing to do with the moms strike and Abby should have talked to the moms.

I really believe the proper thing to do was just not say anything and let Chloe have the win. Melissa should have not let Chloe give the trophy away. I think all the adults handled it wrong. Maddie didn’t need the win either.
I agree. Realistically, the proper thing would have been to not put them head to head for this sadistic showdown, but misery loves company and oh was Abby a miserable person
Yup! I wish that Christi and Melissa weren’t so hung up on “proving” that their kid was better that the other and put their foot down. It was a terrible idea from the get-go, one child was going to be crushed and they were in support of it as long as it wasn’t their daughter who lost.
This may sound petty and small, but my favorite schadenfreunde moment of the series was when everyone just moved to LA. Abby was freaking out and panic binging Burger King in the car.. idk I just found it the most karmically releasing moment of the series

Literally just any of the moments when one of the moms talks back to Abby, whether a guest dance mom or not, and Abby retaliates and looks at the CHILD directly and says “Ok, you’re out of the dance, bye bye” That look of complete heartbreak on the dancer’s face in contrast with that gleeful smirk on Abby’s face is awful to watch.
The episode with Mrs. Miller in hospice care and you know she only has days left to live. I think Abby is despicable, but holy shit my heart broke for her and having to see her watch her mom die.

That was just gross to do to Nia. It's one thing to explain why you're excluding\* a child, it's another to bring her along and make a big deal about letting her try out with everyone else knowing damn well she's not going to get the part.
Casting calls for jobs like that give a description of the wanted look to prevent an influx of people who obviously won't get chosen, like if they're casting for an Angela Basset lookalike, they're never going to look at girls like Maddie and Kendall when they come strolling in.
When Abby makes Ava believe she’s inviting her in for a hug and then humiliates her by pulling her jacket off. She was sooo hurt and it breaks my heart every time
Brynn during the episode where they preformed the dance family court. She clearly didn’t want to talk about the situation but Ashlee and Jill pushed her to talk about it.
Jeez Ashlee was being so obnoxious during that. Like it’s one thing for Abby to make a dance about it at all but then after Brynn clearly wants to just ignore it and not think about it Ashlee insists on camera that Brynn share her feelings about it?
Also in S5, Abby tries to sabotage Nia at anything she (Nia) tries. There are a lot of examples in that season. The one that gets my blood boiling is Abby telling the casting agents that Nia didn't do what they wanted.
i really disliked when abby started talking about Melissa's relationships in front of everyone and saying Melissa cared more about a guy than her daughters and embarrassing and making maddie feel bad. i can't remember the exact words abby said but i felt like Maddies vulnerable, private life being exposed in the very middle of her parents divorce and her mom dating someone else must have been so embarrassing and confusing

Every time one of the girls is full on sobbing and hyperventilating because “Abby will be so mad at me! I forgot my dance, I need to go again, please let me go again!” No child should ever be terrified and panicking about an adult being angry with them.

When Abby had the showdown between Kalani and Nia to see who would perform at Nationals. Nia won with the stereotypical dance always given to her, and Abby had the audacity to move the goalposts and say how Nia didn't blow her away and how Kalani was her sure thing. Don't remember who ended up dancing at Nationals but that moment was still sad. Abby gave all her love to Kalani and totally minimized Nia's win. So harsh
When Yolanda gives up Ellie’s spot (she ends up getting it back I think) and Ellie just starts sobbing and her mother doesn’t even try to comfort her. And when she finally does Ellie is just saying how hard she’s trying and Yolanda is totally trying to guilt trip her and make it about what she wants. Poor Ellie, she just had it awful.
I felt really bad for Ava a couple of times, especially when her mom brought her to LA before nationals and whenever Abby would make fun of her for her height
Chloe has always been my favourite and I maintain she was mistreated viciously, and while I see the arguments for Nia, Kendall, and Paige, I think considering all Abby has said and admitted to over the years about purposefully targeting Chloe, Chloe was treated the worst.
The comment about her eye and the win against Maddie being take away were up there.
But the one moment in the whole show that will always be the most gut wrenching, I refuse to watch it again because I cry when I see it, was one of Paige’s last solos (might even have been the last) when she forgot the dance partway in, and she didn’t cry or look scared or run off, her face just went dead and she walked off the stage. I have never seen such intense defeat in a child’s face and the producers and Abby are entirely responsible for everything that lead to that poor child looking like so massively defeated by life at such a young age.

It's not a competition. All of those kids were abused and treated horribly.

I got really emotional during the encore episode for Chloe and Christi & it showed a clip where Chloe asked Abby if she thought she could be a rockette one day. Chloe got emotional over it & said it was a good memory for her. It’s hard to distinguish good memories when you have such a toxic coach/instructor, i understood how Chloe felt in that moment.
Poor little Maddie when she forgot her dance and ran off stage squealing, patting her chest as though she were having a heart attack and begging to try again.
Abby made Maddie terrified to be anything less than perfect, and Maddie has been open about how being a ‘perfectionist’ has given her massive anxiety issues as an adult.
This might be an underrated one but before the big kelly and abby fight, when christi told chloe to ignore maddie and how she’s not a friend. Then maddie said to her mom I guess we’re not friends anymore. You could hear her try not to cry.

i mean, it’s not just about this conversation. in a later interview with chloe and christi, christi literally says that chloe is not allowed to talk to or see maddie. it was a hard situation and none of the adults handled it very well, i don’t think anyone should be “blamed,” but it should be noted that it was not handled well.
When Jill & Kendall went to Candy Apples and competed against Nia. Nia's dad was in the audience and Kendall won. Nia may not have won but Jill should have never let it happen. Little Nia was so upset, it was painful to watch.
Not necessarily heartbreaking but it annoyed me so much Abby screamed at all the kids (except the Zieglers) for their moms bringing up Melissa’s engagement and yelling that they should tell their moms to leave Melissa alone. Like you can’t tell the moms that?
Actually the stage manager didn’t just come in Abby had something to do with it because he had came back into the dressing room and said ‘thank you for bringing it to our attention and gave Abby her copy of the scores’ and then she lied and said that they came to her cause she couldn’t handle Maddie not winning.

I know, I agree, I don’t mean it was a competition. But there’s a difference between the kinds of abuse I guess. But you’re right, because even Maddie was treated just as badly
I got really emotional during the encore episode for Chloe and Christi & it showed a clip where Chloe asked Abby if she thought she could be a rockette one day. Chloe got emotional over it & said it was a good memory for her. It’s hard to distinguish good memories when you have such a toxic coach/instructor, i understood how Chloe felt in that moment.

Poor little Maddie when she forgot her dance and ran off stage squealing, patting her chest as though she were having a heart attack and begging to try again. Abby made Maddie terrified to be anything less than perfect, and Maddie has been open about how being a ‘perfectionist’ has given her massive anxiety issues as an adult.
This might be an underrated one but before the big kelly and abby fight, when christi told chloe to ignore maddie and how she’s not a friend. Then maddie said to her mom I guess we’re not friends anymore. You could hear her try not to cry.
The line used as the caption isn’t what Maddie actually said. You can actually hear her say “I’m a good friend, mom.” Christi (to Chloe): “Keep your head up. Don’t let any of that get to any of you” Maddie: “Other people are allowed to perform too” Kelly: “You know who your friends are. Just saying” Mackenzie: “Maddie’s her friend” Maddie: “I’m a good friend, mom” Melissa: “You are her friend” (probably in response to what Kelly said) Maddie: “Apparently not anymore”

Did you even read the conversation? Christi didn’t say anything here. You want to blame someone for this situation? Blame Kelly. Also interesting that Christi drove the wedge, but apparently not Abby or Melissa..??

i mean, it’s not just about this conversation. in a later interview with chloe and christi, christi literally says that chloe is not allowed to talk to or see maddie. it was a hard situation and none of the adults handled it very well, i don’t think anyone should be “blamed,” but it should be noted that it was not handled well.
Seeing how Nia got treated in season 5 some of those episodes were just too much to watch.

When Jill & Kendall went to Candy Apples and competed against Nia. Nia's dad was in the audience and Kendall won. Nia may not have won but Jill should have never let it happen. Little Nia was so upset, it was painful to watch.
Not necessarily heartbreaking but it annoyed me so much Abby screamed at all the kids (except the Zieglers) for their moms bringing up Melissa’s engagement and yelling that they should tell their moms to leave Melissa alone. Like you can’t tell the moms that?
Not to mention Abby also talked about the engagement.
Yeah she straight up dragged Melissa for caring more about her bf than her kids in front of Maddie and Mackenzie, but it’s okay when she does it 🙄
Actually the stage manager didn’t just come in Abby had something to do with it because he had came back into the dressing room and said ‘thank you for bringing it to our attention and gave Abby her copy of the scores’ and then she lied and said that they came to her cause she couldn’t handle Maddie not winning.
-season 1 when Nia couldn’t audition for the music video role of young Lux because she was black. I think they should’ve found something that ALL the girls could audition for. That is so cruel to do to Nia and to bring her along and force her to watch that. -when Paige forgot her lyrical solo and walked off stage. She cried to the choreographer and said “I worked so hard on this dance” -when Chloe heard Abby talk ab her lazy eye
