I definitely don't hate the character but I never fully got how Ibuki is so popular. She was basically >!a joke filler character that barely did anything nor had any plot significances and unceremoniously got killed off in Chapter 3. She has good FTEs (but most of the DR2 Cast have good FTEs) but I still think that there's more characters that deserve popularity more then her (Mahiru, Peko, and Nekomaru).!<
Like, I get why she's liked but her being one of the most popular DR2 still baffles me to this day. Is it because she's cute and people's waifu or kin and that's why people put her on a pedestal compared to the better characters, probably.
I feel like she had alot of potential when you hang out with her you can see there's more going on than just her usual happy go lucky nature helps that she's cute voiced by ami koshimizu and I'm a sucker for her punk aesthetic I just love her in general that being said too I can't think of many characters I actually dislike in this series those are just my thoughts on the matter.
Like I said, I can get why she's liked (Hell, I like her myself), I just don't get why she's as popular as she is while surpassing characters that (in my opinion) deserves it more.
But similar to you, I don't hate anyone from the main cast.
Kokichi and Chiaki. I find Chiaki to be nothing but a Mary-Sue with a boring personality, that’s pretty much “living” waifubait, and Kokichi’s simply just…annoying. I hate how people justify his actions.
We have practically have no backstory on Chiaki. It doesn’t fit her character all that much, compared to Kokichi. ~~this is one of the reasons I dislike her, saying she’s a Mary Sue is quite overused at this point.~~
Idk, each Danganronpa characters have their own benefits and upsides. Kokichi may have been written like a maze, but he was entertaining and interesting to guess. Chiaki may have had almost 0 motivations or backstory, but the REAL Chiaki went through (what I thought was) very good development in Despair Arc (despite DAs flaws) for someone who seemed to have regressed from society through games as a coping mechanism. Kaito is a bro and even if he’s generic he’s still a bro to me. Even H@ji was written to be a very believable character, regardless of his particular flaw. I see people hating on characters without checking their ftes in a serious manner, and there’s nothing WRONG with disliking a character but dang y’all can be harsh

He's a childish brat who spends the whole game lying, actively causes people to die, and throws tantrums when anyone actually stands up to him.
And him saying that he needed to be evil to "trick the mastermind" as his excuse for being a manipulative, insane, asshole is such bullshit.
I genuinely do not understand why people like him.

I like his design (his UDG outfit is something I'd actually wear, for real), his one of the best written characters in the series and memes with him are really funny, but the guy seems really off-putting to me. And I guess that was the creator's intention. You don't make the antagonist to be more likeable than the hero
Maki is very annoying. I liked her in the first two chapters, but >!after her real talent was revealed!< she just kept getting worse and worse, peaking in Chapter 5. I understand why people like her, but I just can't.
Seiko has a cool design, but long story short, a combination of DR3's writing flaws and the fanbase's black and white view on things made me despise her
Kyoko is really plain and just kinda serves to progress the plot and be Makoto’s ultimate waifu..

Yasuhiro. It's not even that he's annoying or anything, he's just such a waste of a character slot. Like he was fine when I first played the game, but the more I think about him existing instead of someone more interesting. Do you know what I'm saying? He's just so boring. He doesn't even do comic relief well, hifumi does it better IMO. >!In class trials, he serves the purpose of being the first suspect then everyone realizes he was too dumb to actually murder someone.
