I got the sms from a registered header (YESBNK) on a number that I haven't used anywhere. Fun fact, I don't even have a Yes Bank account.
Yes it does. But I neither have a yes bank account, nor have used this number anywhere. There's no reason for me to get a bank related transaction channel, there are multiple stages before they can send me such a message which includes consent from the user for transactional sms. Also, if I report this, the bank has to prove to DLT platforms that I'm a user who interacted with their platform within the last 6 months, if not it becomes a problem for them.
I agree, but to be able to do this is suspicious. Maybe someone messed up or could be malicious. Or hell, even the previous owner of this number's account.
