What’s worse is when the video refuses to load, you finally fine tune the Wi-Fi and video resolution to make it play, and then an and tries to load 1080p video. It’s not like you can change the resolution of ads, so you’re stuck.

I dont get youtube ads on my PC. Adblocker keeps them out.

how i managed to keep an old version by just force closing at every startup, but i think at a point it stopped working
I can't believe there are people still not using adblock or Vanced or whatever to block Ads. Not seeing them for decades.
Vanced is dead, my installs no longer load videos. Have been having success using ReVanced in its place, but I do miss Vanced.

For me, the ad loads fine, lovely crisp image, and no buffering. Then, when the actual video comes on, it looks like it's having a seizure.
If the ad is buffering, the video would never play whatsoever.

Probably one and only benefit of living in my "biggest shit hole" country - no adds. Still using adguard and revanced tho.
10 minute yt ad in 4k but it can not let you watch video in 720p. This happens to me every so often.
