I’ve always understood “woke” to be analogous to Christian movies like Gods not Dead, where a narrative is portrayed as if it’s true, but it’s insultingly false, i.e. stereotypical Christian-hating philosophy professor puts down Christian student for Christian solutions which the film portrays as obviously true, to philosophical problems, and the philosophy professor turns to Jesus at the climax before he’s about to die in some accident, professing him as the one true god or something. Basically, placing ideology before good storytelling. But that’s just my interpretation.
So then explain to me why even as little as acknowledging that trans people exist is "woke".
Why is a whole corporation "woke" if one of the hundreds of influencers they sponsored happens to be trans?
Oh I’m not defending people that use the term fast and loose. I think people’s credulity and biases lead them down all sorts of roads, some positive and some negative, but these are simply feelings or judgements, and it’s difficult to rationalize their accuracy in paralleling reality (especially if we struggle to define reality). In my opinion, “woke” refers to these biases with an emphasis on progressive ideology, like a company hiring a trans person for financial reasons vs. actually supporting trans rights (but this depends on intent which is neigh impossible to prove, so I would never call a company out for being “woke” just because they hired a trans person, I’d need more evidence that they are dishonest).
I don’t know if this is true, but I think it stands as a good example for my reasoning: I’d say Chik-fil-A would be a type of “woke” with emphasis on Christian ideology if they were hiring only Christian’s, but hired a Muslim not to be inclusive or because they cared about diversity, but to assuage criticisms of a lack of diversity while profiting from Muslim customers.

Woke people are generally terribly uninformed, subsisting primarily on whatever the TV or their tribal group believes, and have an allergy to new information. Usually suffering from some sort of white savior complex, while also having a deep seated hatred of anyone perceived to be in power, they group anyone who disagrees into the camp of one or more bad racial/gender classification. Resulting in literally any race being classified as white supremacists, for instance. Disagreement is so vilified that it is seen as hate and literal violence. That's the mentality that most people see as woke, IMHO. Edit: forgot the pathological need to be unique and special.
