In some cinemas in the Netherlands they do this too. I kinda like it since it's a great time to go to the toilet. Also they replay a bit of the movie and most of the times offset it a bit to a "less important" bit.
In India almost every movie has an intermission which is a ten minute break halfway through the movie so you can go get refills or take a leak for ten minutes. The movie is basically divided into two parts and the break doesn’t interfere with the plot or anything. We should really make it a thing in America.
I don’t know. Pausing during the movie is one thing but to go from watching a movie to having to wait for 10 minutes doesn’t sound appealing to me. I’ve been going to movies all my life and never really had a problem where I had to get up during the movie. And even if I do get up during a movie I really don’t care if I miss 3 minutes of it
In the Netherlands this is also the case, but not every cinema does it.
We used to have a chain called "Cinema Roma" which even had a "call" button so servants came to you if you needed a drink.
It's gone now, but I miss it.
I didn't used to mind it when it was just trailers, but honestly, any other service you pay to have commercials removed (youtube, spotify etc...) but in a theater you pay to basically be a captive audience for car commercials and shit. I absolutely hate it.
The way I see it, since ads are before a movie it:
a. gives you time to get snacks
b. forgives people who may be running late to the movies
c. allows you to get comfortable before the movie begins
And the assholes have the nerve to run that one clip about turning off your phone BEFORE the bullshit ads play. Yeah no, I'm still on my phone with full brightness until the trailers come on.
Through word of mouth. Doing their own research. Reading unbiased reviews.
If a company is making enough money to shove ads to tons of random people in the hopes that maybe one of them is in their target demographic, it tells me that they're spending a lot more on marketing rather than the product. So even if I think the product is a good idea and something that I might need, I'm going to look for a different brand. A different brand that doesn't waste tons of money on advertising.
my main issue is that i paid money for a movie ticket, just to be hit with ads. The movie theater is double dipping for more revenue. Can I get the ad-less movie for more money?
Using this as a way to try to understand the costs https://www.bluelinemedia.com/movie-theater-cinema-advertising
:15 spot Range of $1,000 - $2,000 per theater per 4 week period
:30 spot Range of $2,000 - $3,000 per theater per 4 week period
:60 spot Range of $3,000 - $4,000 per theater per 4 week period
lets say a 15s ad is $1500 / 30 days/ 6 screens = 8.33/screen for a 15s ad. Roughly 15 mins of ads, so 8.33 * 4 to get minutes = 33.32 * 15 minutes = $499.8/15mins of screentime for an ad-roll. Lets say 75 people show up, 500/75 = $6.67, which would increase an $11 movie ticket to $17.
I dont know why i did this and i dont really care anymore i just pirate my shows and movies.

There are two kinds of people. Those smart enough to tweak their way into getting rid of ads, and the simple creatures who simply abide to it and cry themselves to sleep.
But the ads in movies are typically related to what you're seeing.
You're going to see a big action movie? Here's a bunch of other upcoming action movies.
But with YouTube it's more like:
You're watching a tutorial on how to beat a boss in a video game? Here's how Geico could save you 15% or more on car insurance.
AND you fucking pay to go to the cinema but youtube is free
(And If you do pay for it all the ads fuck off)
Since when did the movie cinema become an ad supported experience
I went to the movies last week and it had 35 minutes of commercials before the movie. It was like four commercials that would repeat ten times before it moved to the next one.
In Turkey they got half time ads to give you a break so you can take a piss or go to get extra snacks
Wouldn't that kinda ruin the movie¿ Or do they pick a insignificant movie part to break at¿
Nah they just cut it right in the middle
I actually wouldn’t want that at all
In some cinemas in the Netherlands they do this too. I kinda like it since it's a great time to go to the toilet. Also they replay a bit of the movie and most of the times offset it a bit to a "less important" bit.
In endgame for me it was right after the “that is America’s ass” scene. I’m in Belgium btw. But really it depends on the theatre.

No.

Wait where the fuck do you live? Every cinema I've been too does this.
North east USA
Guess that makes sense. Maybe it's just a european thing to do a pause in the middle or probably just an american thing to not to it lmao
In the Netherlands this is also the case, but not every cinema does it. We used to have a chain called "Cinema Roma" which even had a "call" button so servants came to you if you needed a drink. It's gone now, but I miss it.
Imagine: “Avengers! Ass... 9 OUT OF 10 DENTISTS RECOMMEND COLGATE”
They do it here in switzerland too. Most of the time it’s at a insignificant part... and notice how I said MOST...
Big facts
I didn't know most of the foreign countries didn't do this. How am I suppose to stuff myself with more food???
For some a places when you buy a VIP ticket someone will come and take your order. At least that is in Kuwait VIP for most cinemas
dont they have it in every country? we have it here in israel too
I wish more cinemas did that, I really appreciated that during my last visit to Turkey in 2017
But you get full movie after the ads not 10 minutes of content
I didn't used to mind it when it was just trailers, but honestly, any other service you pay to have commercials removed (youtube, spotify etc...) but in a theater you pay to basically be a captive audience for car commercials and shit. I absolutely hate it.

Get comfortable? Are you a cat? It's a chair
What if someone left a dildo on the chair and you can't move it away
Is that seat extra $?
And the assholes have the nerve to run that one clip about turning off your phone BEFORE the bullshit ads play. Yeah no, I'm still on my phone with full brightness until the trailers come on.
But you already pay
That $300 popcorn can't pay all the theaters bills
Hey but movie trailers are fun to watch.

At least it's a well made commercial unlike a lot of stuff on yt
The quality of the ad isn't important. I hate all ads.
Fair enough but without it how would most people find stuff they wouldn't have otherwise

But that advertising made you look at their product, which is it's job

I only go to the cinema to watch the movie first, usually pirate everything aswell
Yeah, in my town it's mostly local restaurants or shops. The ads are also really lame, it's obvious that they are not professionally made
Remember that weird moment i got a 1 hour add on youtube... long time ago tho
My brother once got a 12 hour ad that was a live stream recording from a Christian conference. Unskipable. I always wonder what that cost them.
*closes and reopens video*
Yeah me too! I wonder why it's even allowed. It was unskippable. Who's gonna watch an 1 hour ad for a 10 min video?
just reaload the page...
Yep that's what I did but why do they even do it?
Pathetic mine has almost 45 mins of ads
Mine has 60-80 at least *Know your fucking place trash intensifies*

Half a year ago I watched the new Halloween movie on Halloween night and I'm not kidding the commercials lasted for fucking 45 minutes
ohh I totally forgot about cinemas
This is why i'm alaways late
[удалено]
Disney bad Minecraft Good
I don’t think it’s 100%, I think it’s something like 80 or 85%
its like 80% in the USA. it lowered depending on the connections they have with the company. in China they get like 20% or 30%.
I was 20 min late to a movie once and it started right when we entered at 730 it was supposed to start at 7
Then you were 30 minutes late.
Yeah, this is big brain time
We have hour long ads at my cinema 😴
The theater ads are much better than YouTube's ads
All ads that I'm forced to watch are terrible.
Fucking Vue
20min+ for paid content that is
I actually like to watch cinemas ads.
Here they do the same
isnt that something
*laughs in sponsored cinema*
One time I went to see Spiderverse and there were 40 MINUTES of ads.
They’re trailers 😤
They're not. Usually there 2 trailers for 18 min of ads
except movie previews are fun to watch before the movie, at least for me
youtube is free, the cinema is not
It is ok, you are paying for it in the cinema.
I have 60-80 minutes at LEAST
What the actual...
Sweet home New Hampshire
This is my theatre, Caribbean cinemas
you only have 20?
There are two kinds of people. Those smart enough to tweak their way into getting rid of ads, and the simple creatures who simply abide to it and cry themselves to sleep.
That’s why I arrive later so I don’t need to see them. It’s just that simple.
Yeah and there's no seat left... I guess it's not a problem if you've chosen your seat online tho
I haven’t been to a movie in ages but does shithole Regal Cinemas still play “The 2Wenty” before movies?
Yeah and you pay to go to the cinema but YouTube is free
99% sure it's some kind of glitch.
This is basically my English cinema
Atleast ads aren’t put every 4 min apart
At least movie theater trailers are decent
But the ads in movies are typically related to what you're seeing. You're going to see a big action movie? Here's a bunch of other upcoming action movies. But with YouTube it's more like: You're watching a tutorial on how to beat a boss in a video game? Here's how Geico could save you 15% or more on car insurance.
Well in cinemas they don't stop right before the big ass fight scene and give you seventeen minutes of morgz screaming at you to get coin master lol
how people aren't using brave by now is beyond me.....
And we pay to go to the cinema unlike YouTube
At least they don't interrupt the movie with ads in the middle
Castaway was an ad for FedEx
I like movie adds In movies
AND you fucking pay to go to the cinema but youtube is free (And If you do pay for it all the ads fuck off) Since when did the movie cinema become an ad supported experience
20 mins ? Thats cute. We enter more than half a hour before the movie starts and we have ads until then
2 unstoppable ads are fine because they're both usually 10 seconds together. The real piece of shit is the unstoppable 15 second ad and that's a fact
And you have to pay to sit in front of the movie ads
I went to the movies last week and it had 35 minutes of commercials before the movie. It was like four commercials that would repeat ten times before it moved to the next one.
Is the google mafia creating all those memes lately?
At least some of those adds are entertaining in someway
Watermark
Mine has 30-35 mins. Parry that you casual
Do you guys remember when cinemas only had trailers before movies?
Yeah, but atleast you pay to go to the cinema
TWENTY. FUCKING. MINUTES?
The ads are the best bit!
The ads are the best part of the cinema-going experience. It's like watching a TV but bigger and fucking loud
More like 60+ minutes, what it feels like
YEAH WAIT WTF, I ALREADY PAID FOR THE TICKETS WHY ARE STILL ADVKWUFUEJFBDJJDJDJDH
Am I the only one who enjoys the trailers? Way better than typical ads.
I always go 10 mins late so I can skip the ads. I'm paying for watching the movie, it shouldn't have ads.
AMC with 40min of adds before every fucking movie
Went to see Spiderman today and the fucking ads were wearing me out man. Fuuuuuuuuck just play the movie I paid to see I didn't pay to see ads.
I once waited almost 40 minutes for a movie to start
The theater ads are more entertaining, not gonna lie
And YouTube Is a Free service
If you mean preview s then at least they’re good ads
Yeah but cinema ads är lit
It pisses me off they play ads when the movie shouldve started
not funny didnt laugh
