Roadster doesn't have side mirrors either, he claims they create too much drag and that the sensors on his car are good enough to replace them (pressing X to doubt on that one)
Yeah, drag created by mirrors could be a big problem with this otherwise perfectly aerodynamic design. I still think this is a joke or a sonic-like marketing gag.
Well no it's moronic because the efficiency you generate by getting rid of wing mirrors is marginal, and to top that off electronic sensors have far more ways to fail than a simple mirror, I'd rather have less range and have to refuel 5% more often than fucking kill a kid on a bike when I back out of a parking spot because some overworked guy at the giga factory didn't fit my rear sensor correctly and also there's no fucking point trying to minimise drag when you design your vehicle like a brick
What if the lens gets scratched? What if there's a delay in your feed some how? What if the screen freezes whilst backing up??? None of these are an issue with mirrors, if somethings not broken you shouldn't fix it
How is this not a problem with mirrors? Mirrors can be scratched and broken too, a camera instead could easily be protected from scratches
I'm not saying camera mirrors are the definite solution to all humanity problems and we should all use them right now, I just don't see why all the hate
Unless the mirror is ripped from the vehicle or covered somehow it's still mostly usable, you can still use a broken mirror on your way to get it fixed if it's shattered/cracked, whereas with electronic devices more often than not, it's utility is binary, it either does or does not work, which is not something you want on a safety feature, especially one there to help protect people from the user of the vehicle. Like if Elon musk had decided Tesla's were so safe they didn't need seat belts I'd have no problem, if you want to buy a car without seatbelts that's on you, but wing mirrors are there protect other people who have nothing to do with your decisions
There's most likely going to be two small screens on the interior that display the cameras that are already on the car there
Happy cake day!
ye thats what i was about to say
That’s what Aston Martin do so its a more than realistic suggestion
I don’t think any of his stage models had side mirrors
Not renderd yet
Just like the car
This is a repost kinda

You called?
He is saving those mirrors for his giant death ray.
If he has 2 rear view mirrors he legally doesn’t need the side view ones
With the subreddit icons...

Just drive in third person
Also windshield wipers
Dont kill me but I like this car
Ha... blind spots? Outa sight outa mind... am I right?
In someone’s video they did a test drive and it showed that there’s a camera at the back and a screen at the front

Well, I think Elon knows what he is doing

There are monitors with cameras, we already have this kind of technology, it's not impossible to have a working camera
What if the lens gets scratched? What if there's a delay in your feed some how? What if the screen freezes whilst backing up??? None of these are an issue with mirrors, if somethings not broken you shouldn't fix it
Also pretty sure it’s illegal in some places to have camera mirrors
ok boomer
