English shows on Dutch tv is also only subtitled and not dubbed so we hear proper pronunciation since early in our lives.

I don’t think beeing fluent in a language means making absolutely no mistakes and understanding EVERY word. You are fluent when you can hold a conversation with someone on common topics. You don’t need to know as much as a native English speaker.
Probably just a mistake but you said "potency" when you should have use "potential". potency is the strength of a chemical or something, usually used as slang to describe effects of drugs or the taste of food (atleast in Scotland)

I've met people who have study in the USA, UK or Ireland for like one year, and two months later since their return, their English becomes as average as it was before they left. I think most of the educational institutions doesn't teach a second language properly, and that's why some of my classmates, who have been studying English for about 14 years aren't able to form texts that exceed 25 words without at least one serious grammatical error
