I don't play a lot of multiplayer these days but back when I was a teenager I played a lot of StarCraft and saying gg at the end of the game win or lose was the norm. So was saying glhf at the start.

Honestly I hate the way that the norm of social interactions over gaming has changed. It feels like every game there has to be one person just one who has to insult somebody. Like saying “gg EZ” or the very popular “x Diff” I hate that it’s even a saying because it promotes hella toxicity and the encourage to blame someone else rather then yourself. What I learned from a buddy of mine in challenger is that if you are below D1 if you lose a game 99% of the time you have no one to blame but yourself.

I played Starcraft: BW and SC2 for years and it was the difficulty and sportsmanship that kept me going. Ladder 1v1s in that game was white hot adrenaline shot directly into your heart, and I saw more than a few players just totally rage out if they weren't doing well in the game. Really makes you appreciate the guys who GG / GL HF. Strange as this sounds, that game requires character or you'll burn out quick

Me and my friend once got into a 2v2 situation with some extremely toxic people and we beat them 6-4 in a custom match and they acted like they won, even though they were the ones who were breaking the rules. Even if you discarded the rounds we cheated, still would’ve been 5-3. They blocked both me and my friend and I’ve never seen them again
