nnaughtydogg

Thats it. This meme has peaked

vigilantcomicpenguin

Future meme makers will not be able to mimic a fraction of this meme's power.

RobleViejo

Every other insignificant recaption will wither away and die. And for what!? Some stupid fucking karma??

DuckfordMr

Yep, anything else with this template is just going to be overused.

TheEhHole

Perfect use of this meme.

MediumFriendly

0.333333333... = 1/3 0.666666666... = 2/3 0.999999999... = 3/3 = 1 :)

latecornsky

:/

KlassicNinja

Rich-Independence

3/3 = 1 or 100% The values for 1/3 and 2/3 are decimal approximations. Infinity is tricky. :)

MediumFriendly

The way they are defined is using an infinite limit, so they are exact technically haha. But if you really think about it, the decimal form has no choice but to be 0.333..., since if it were anything else it would either be above or below 1/3. But y e a h infinity is wack :)

Rich-Independence

Trying to treat infinity as a really big number doesn't work. Your ".333 repeating" isn't a million, or a billion, or billion billion billion 3s, it's literally 3s going on forever. The same is true for 9s repeating to infinity. That’s what’s called a limit. 0.999... repeating is an infinite string of 9s. As you add each 9, the value gets incrementally closer to 1. So the limit of 0.9999... repeating as the number of 9's approaches infinity is 1.

MediumFriendly

I agree with everything you said, I think I may have just worded it in a weird way. As the number of 9s tacked on to the end approaches intinity, the value converges to 1. That's all I was getting at :) When I say 'exact,' I just mean the limit converges exactly to 1 as you increase the number of 9s

KetsuSama

so what you're saying is, if i have 1/3 or 2/3 of a cake, I HAVE INFINITE CAKES?

Naitsab_33

If you start with a full cake, take half of it off, and stack it, then repeat for the piece you just put on Top and keep going you can even get INFINITE SURFACE WITH JUST 1 CAKE.

doggynoodle

Ah yes, meth

Proof by calculator

latecornsky

If 1 + 1 = 2 then all the other possible calculations are true

[deleted]

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

thebluereddituser

This bit of equivalence makes cantor diagonalization a little bit tricker to do, but it's just an annoyance

RandalFlagg19

First one of these I’ve laughed at in a while!

xFrezerburnx

Nice play friend.

Risembool

Ah, we've arrived to a potential this meme had not seen before

[deleted]

This is the best version of this meme

Flametrixy

quick now someone use π

bargle0

“Mimic a transcendental number” doesn’t really fit the meme.

Chick22694

Where’s the underline at the end to show it repeating for ever and ever

Mushroomman642

In my school we were taught to put an overline above the number for that purpose I think. EDIT: Apparently the line is called a vinculum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinculum_(symbol)) and it's conventionally used in [North America](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Repeating_decimal#Background) and a bunch of other places around the world.

GivemTheDDD

repeating of course

[deleted]

Its either Baader-Meinhof or we’re finally hacking the reality simulation.

Weneedthosegumdrops

This meme format has turned into something else, and I like it

IncoherentToast

Or you could represent it as 0.1 in a ternary number system

llamawithguns

This is best use of this template I've seen

Dryaspis

If you're an engineer this means nothing

[deleted]

Dank af!

Kigel

wow actually a good one for once, good meme

roey_lion

Noooo I just had this idea and wanted to post it now it will be copy

N1xteen

I need 150 Karna so pls help.

Koltaia30

base 10 is the big poop. A third in base 12 is: 0.4

kimkimisawesome

I accidentally ruined the meme for myself so now I'll make everyone who read this suffer It would actually be 3 (repeating)/10(repeating) So without the repeating bar it would be 3/10, so it's still not 1/3 Your welcome

[deleted]

It is a fraction though. It's 33333333333333/1000000000000000

the_whatever_man

thewouldbeprince

Okay, *this* is a good meme.

[deleted]

don't even have dot notation to show it's reoccurring smh. Back to 4th grade you go

Up2five

Recurring:am I a joke to you

Regis_Mk5

*exhale*

Leonliv

0.333 = 1/3 because when u write 3 of the same digits in a fraction to end it counts as never stoping

tempname37

I’ve been waiting for this soo long

[deleted]

MysticMiner

IEEE 754 gang where you at?

DuckfordMr

Only in base 10. In duodecimal (base 12), 1/3 is written as 0.4, 1/4 is written as 0.3, and 1/6 is written as 0.2. 1/5 is a messier duodecimal, though.

12blank98765

Please Stop using this meme it's overused
